just leaving this tweet right herehttps://twitter.com/seonho_vie/status/1508074237042434050?s=20&t=uoRv2MWpUoc9wtPdCBcvQQ
great tweet. I feel like its a bit sad they haven't put more screen time into YJ and his family. It feels like they kind of just made him the "adult" that isn't really an adult while focusing on the other kid's growth - well mainly HeeDo and YuRim. To me it just feels a bit like his character is "misunderstood" cause of slightly poorer development. I'd personally much rather see him grow as a character and make good decisions after overcoming things instead of seeing him pressured by his circumstances into bad choices and then feel sorry for him. I guess to a large degree that's the role HD plays in his life tho.

I don't agree that the mom's decision was stupid because it's really not easy for a woman to stay in that kind…
I agree. Stupid probably isn't the right word. I think the mom's decisions and Yi Jins decision are very human. Not bad decisions per se, but calling them the right decision would be a hella stretch. I kinda don't like how there's this idea that growing up means compromising yourself and making decisions that hurt people. Not that there isn't an element of compromise in growing up and the world being complex means you can't always have a happy ending (or that one person's happy ending is another person's sad ending). But idk. It just doesn't sit well with me. On the other hand I really like how the HD of right now feels like she's grown into her best self while losing the oblivious naivety of the earlier episodes. The conversation she had with the girl who beat her in episode 13 and the way she's handled YJ has been SO refreshing to me.

About the ending of this episode. I agree with you 100%. Felt like I gargled toilet water lmao. Still hopeful like you that something works out. The "It's late but" part of his wedding congrats was low key a blow. Really curious as to how they'll finish this well.

YJ has devolved for me in the last 2 episodes. Not that his worries aren't understandable but I'm finding his decisions cowardly and immature. I get there's the whole growing pains and entering the real world theme but isolating himself, not talking about anything with the people that matter most and that pointed af conversation with HD just ain't it. Even with the mom I liked her being presented as a flawed human and their whole mother-daughter redemption arc but the not going to the dad's funeral cause she's "professional" and has a point to prove thing seemed entirely unnecessary to me. Like at the very least it wasn't a good decision. Do I get it? yes. Do I still think it's stupid? big yes.

It also feels like a disservice to YJ's character to make him a watered down version of the mom just because "that's what happens when a reporter and a subject get too close" and "this is what being a true reporter is all about". Like the reasons don't match the emotional intensity and weight YJ and HD have shown before this. Idk it just doesn't sit well with me. Wouldn't want this to be the beginning of the end. Feels like his emotional intelligence has been growing in reverse. That being said, him breaking down and HD showing up at the graffiti was a beautiful moment and kinda redeemed him for me a bit.

Still very hopeful about the ending. Feel like this could still swing both ways. Half excited and half terrified. Even though the ending scene today had me cursing through my teeth the writing has been *chef's kiss* throughout. I know they've teased a "sad" ending from the beginning but after 14 full episodes of mind-blowing character and relationship building to throw it all away in less than 2 for a commentary on "the fleeting nature of relationships" and how "even the most beautiful things must come to an end"?!? Can't say I wouldn't be disappointed. But maybe that's just me.. Either way this has been an amazing ride. Not asking for much, just that they finish strong!

If this drama is going to be a commentary on relationships being fleeting but still important I think it should…
Exactly DAmn. They've obviously tried to keep us guessing but it feels kind of forced at this point. Like they've left it too late to give us a solid hint and now there's too much at stake

Find it funny that HD is the "kid" but in a lot of ways I feel like she's more mature than YJ. She's silly and naive but the way she thinks and communicates in the important moments is 10/10. Easily the most refreshing character I've ever watched! Poor YJ is a semi-adult being whacked about by bitter and jaded older people. I hope he figures himself out so he can really come into himself by the end. The YJ we saw glimpses of in earlier episodes is due a comeback. At this point I'm convinced they have to end up together haha

Exactly, but for the writer not to reveal Min-Chae's father till now. It would only make sense if it's Yijin.
Have you finished ep. 12 yet? I was pretty surprised honestly. Just hoping it doesn't mean the last 4 episodes are a train wreck.

It's almost been too good to be true so far hasn't it?!? I want so bad for this to end as strong as it started...

I know right?? I feel like they need to somehow make the future plot add some kind of value to the drama. Introducing some rando as the father after 16 episodes of probably the most solid character development I've ever seen seems kinda half assed. Like a cheap cop out.

Okay, I think Kdrama writers need to watch 2521 to understand character development before writing scripts, because…
SAME. It would suck if they suddenly swerved away from the vibe they've got going. It's too good to botch

Afraid to say but it slowed down for me. The last 3-To 4 episodes were nothing that huge STORY WISE. 4 more episodes…
I think I see where you're coming from.. I'm kinda torn ngl. I feel like if they didn't have the whole mysterious future plot thing going on it would feel like it was moving pretty organically. The past parts really suck you in but when an unknown future is looming ahead it almost diminishes the "importance" of the past bits at times - at least subtly. Really curious to see how it wraps up. I hope it's good cause there's so much to like about this show.

This is too good!! I feel like at this point the previews are 90% edited to be misleading. I hope JH Oppa is just an obligatory real life fencer cameo. Can't even guess how this will end at this point. Aaaahhh scared as hell to be disappointed haha

Might be a lost in translation thing. I think she meant it as a super deadpan dig at JW. Like "I love music but that boi sacrilegious". SW is a savage and I'm totally there for it lmao.

looks like tomorrow's episode gets us to 2000 and probably the start of some angst
You're probably right. I'm all for some drama but please lord I hope they don't go all in on the angst my heart won't take it haha. Still I kinda wouldn't put it past the writer to subvert our expectations a bit. I've really liked how healthy and pure the leads relationship has been so far. Hope they don't wreck it considering how uncharacteristically open and mature (relative to most on screen relationships) they've been with each other to this point.

Trying to self-hypnotize to keep hoping for a good ending. I get that the writer is trying to keep things mysterious and string us all along with tiny pieces of vague info here and there - which I've been enjoying so far - but I hope they give us something solid to go off of soon. The past timeline parts are SO good that the constant speculation about the future almost pulls you out of it - at least it's getting pretty close to that point for me. It's been sooo solid so far, I really hope they don't overdo the future part OR at least make it relevant enough to care about - like otherwise what was even the point of including that timeline. Fingers and toes crossed they do HD and YJ justice. I think their relationship and chemistry is really unique and not something that's in many other dramas... Would be a shame to have this one end on a sour or bittersweet note in my opinion so I seriously hope they don't try to pull off some overly complex or philosophical crap at the end when everything works so well already.
