Very nice review . Yes she created Lin Yusen to be the exact opposite of Zhuang Xu. I am glad someone got the…
I guess I read the books (especially book 1) too many times so I'm able to catch on the details haha
Lin Yusen is definitely the complete opposite of Zhuang Xu. He is mature and calm-headed, and he is not afraid of being with Xiguang no matter what people said. He change Xiguang as well, to make her be more confident and love herself more. And I'm happy to see Xiguang change over the time and be happier with what she's aiming to be.
Xiguang's college life is terrible though. Like I can't believe she can stand those people for so long. But then again, there are people who truly love and support her, so I guess it's not all that bad
After all that you said here - you gave it only 7.5?
The highest rating I gave to a drama is 9/10, and that's for Nirvana in Fire. It's only once I gave such high rating because I enjoy all aspect of it, and it made me emotional
I mostly watch chinese short dramas nowadays, and there are a lot of reborn-revenge type. You can search them and I believe someone will have playlist Though a lot of them got TD (take down) but most of them stays.
It's been a long time since I commented here, but that's because I focus myself to short dramas nowadays, as it's easier to follow with shorter span and low commitment. But this is the long drama that I finally watched because it's based on Blazing Sunlight, which is the book I love and read back when Gu Man first published only the book 1 (imagine the anxiety waiting for book 2 that said it will be more focused on Zhuang Xu, thankfully it's not)
What I love in this drama is that we have 2 male leads, Lin Yusen and Zhuang Xu, as the complete opposite and comparison when they're with Xiguang. With Zhuang Xu, it feels like Xiguang lost her personality more and more. The deeper her feeling for Zhuang Xu, the more she is lost in this hell pit of relationship that's unhealthy. But with Lin Yusen, Xiguang found stability and her own personality back after what could be considered as heartbreaking moment of her youth.
All the book fans love Lin Yusen (some might pity or like Zhuang Xu, but I think it's 2 or 3 for every 10 people like Lin Yusen). The reason why I love Lin Yusen for Xiguang is because he didn't just go and be a coward. He also had his own past, terrible family situation and relationship, and when he thought that Xiguang is the one who betrayed him and making him unable to be surgeon again (though it's not the case), Lin Yusen bravely took that one step to be with Xiguang despite everything else. Zhuang Xu meanwhile, always pitying himself first and thinking of himself first before he even think of Xiguang. It's not Xiguang's fault her family is rich. It's not her fault that the female beside him (yes, I'm looking at you Ye Rong) is such a green tea and he's blinded by her. Zhuang Xu will blame everything before he even take that step to be with Xiguang, and it's his own fault he miss her.
I'm glad that the drama use the full book 1 and book 2 story to create one complete show. While Song Weilong is not my first choice for Lin Yusen, but after some time, I believe that he is Lin Yusen. Gu Man always make her male lead so desirable, and I love Lin Yusen for who he is. Lin Yusen is like the combination of Feng Teng (for all his strictness towards Xiguang), Xiao Nai (for his somewhat vague flirtiness), and Yu Tu (for his devotion towards medical), and maybe that's why I love him so much.
Story is the usual Gu Man. Those who like Gu Man's previous work, will definitely love this one as well. Overall 7.5/10
can someone recommend me another drama similar to this one?
It's not Korean, but you can find reborn revenge theme short drama in Youtube. There are tons of them, and some better than the others. It's short, compact, easy to watch, and offer more satisfying revenge plot.
For example: the newest drama called "Professor Zhou was the one who fell in love first" 《是周教授先动心》Shen Haonan & Jin Zixuan Short summary: Heiress got tricked and stabbed in the back by the man who is supposed to be in love with her, and found out that her ex-husband is the one who loves her the most. She reborn to the 4 years before the time of her demise, and she exacting revenge to the people responsible for her death. It's one satisfying plot with quick-witted heroine. Having the knowledge of the past, she's able to get her revenge through careful step-by-step plan, which is satisfying to watch
Maybe I watched too many short dramas with Reborn-revenge theme, which is more satisfying than this 12-eps drama, because unfortunately, I can't get through the drama or rave about it like others.
The premise of the drama is the heroine being reborn 1 year before her death, in which she supposed to have knowledge on what's going to come and what's going to happen. And yet 6 eps later, I feel like she didn't do any "revenge" at all. You have 1 year knowledge ahead of everyone, but what did you do? Most of the time she's being overpowered again and again, despite knowing what would happen. Case in point, the painting. She knew that she will be blamed for the fake painting, and yet she did nothing to trap the stepmother about it. Instead, she just passively waiting until the stepmother take the first step and she encounter it. Another case point, the ex-fiance. She know about his relationship with her sister, and yet did nothing to expose it. She didn't even take that advantage and use it to gain more power. Instead, she's just waiting passively and let the sister trample on her over and over again.
Her being reborn feels like a foolish setup. Might as well not do it. Even worst of the worst short drama with Reborn-revenge story feels much more compelling than this one. She said she wanted revenge, but did almost nothing to execute that revenge.
The bonus point for me is the hero is also reborn. We found out at the end that it's because of his desperate plea to save the girl he love that he could be reborn. And he did much more to achieve his goal, being careful and able to execute what he needed to do.
Too bad, the reborn aspect is not utilised and therefore making the story longer for no reason other than it needs to be longer.
Story/plot: 5/10 Acting: 8/10 Song: 10/10 (really love the song) Rewatch value: 1/10
I really dislike it when something like this happen. I won't blame the translator, as it's their rights to upload…
It's still their rights though. They take the time to translate, sub, and upload it because they wanted to share it. And someone use it for bad things instead. So they can take the action that they think is good for them.
So apparently my favorite translator deleted all episodes :') they were uploaded on the polish site... anyone…
I really dislike it when something like this happen. I won't blame the translator, as it's their rights to upload or delete it. But yeah, I guess I have to be back reading the Japanese text instead.
Guys, so who is the one controlling the cases from behind the scenes? Can someone give some spoilers pls
It's Fan Shiyan in the novel, not sure about his name in the drama since it's changed.
Fan Shiyan is the professor of where the first killer in the first arc based from. He is the one who pulled the string and trying to uncover the entire corruption within the police.
I did not know this was one of those AI series and was connected to Anti Reset. but honestly Anti Reset did the…
If you like Anti Reset, you might want to continue with this drama. I'm loving it so far because I can see my fave couple from Anti Reset being cute and adorable with each other. I love that they didn't forget about Anti Reset.
I want to say I agree on Arthit and Daotok. They are my fave couple for many reasons. My second couple is Tonfah…
Yeah, Arthit and Daotok is really such a power couple. I think I have a lot of fun reading their novel and opening pages after pages make me really happy. So far, the whole casts for Fourever You seems very solid to me. Even their weakest link is better than some of the Thai BL I watched for the past few years (of course there are exceptions, but most of the time, Thai actors in BL or non-BL tend to have very low acting capability).
I can totally see though why people like Johan-North. I guess it's just too common of a trope and cliche for me. The actors are delightful and I love them to bits, and their story is good. I guess the trope itself is too common for me. I read too many BLs for the past 20 years, and their trope is the most common that I see in many BLs, from light novels to manga.
Plot: 7/10 While I'm generally tired and sick with university BL coming from Thailand, as it's the most common, but surprisingly, I really love this one. Maybe it's the way the story was told, or maybe because of the very strong cast throughout the entire story, which kept me engaged during the 16 eps.
The reason why I like this story is due to the setting itself. I love that it feels mundane but easy enough to imagine it would happen in real life. The 2 couples, Hill-Easter and Johan-North, presented the fun of chasing the person you love, having relationship with them, and overcoming obstacles (though not so much for Johan-North since they basically just get together with almost zero problems, except for the first few parts when North was still hung up on his ex, but that didn't even last that long).
Throughout the series, I have so much fun exploring and navigating the university life with all our characters. The story steering away from the cliche setup, though it's still being used here and there, but not too much to ruin the enjoyment. Even the first meeting between Johan-North was not even a coincidence, but a carefully orchestrated situation by Hill.
I can't wait for the next part to come out soon because my 2 most fave couples, Arthit-Daotok and Tonfah-Phoon coming soon. I love these 2 couples so much out of the 4, so I hope I could see them soon.
Acting: 7.5/10 I see some criticism towards the acting, but I feel like the entire cast did their job properly. They convince me they're in their university year, especially Earth being Easter, which makes it easier for me to fall in love with the word setting presented.
Music: 9/10 You can't go wrong with the ost. It's just too good. I love the singer.
Rewatch value: 7/10 I feel that rewatch value is still high, especiallly if you like the couples and wanted to revisit their scenes.
I read all the main novels and this is my rating when it comes to paring:1. Arthit and Daotok 👻🚬😣🐱🥰🔥2.…
I want to say I agree on Arthit and Daotok. They are my fave couple for many reasons. My second couple is Tonfah and Typhoon. Their story is too heartbreaking for me to not feel something about it.
Surprisingly, my least fave is Johan-North. Not because they're least interesting, but out of 4, I feel like their love story is the most common. While Hill-Easter seems very vanilla, but it has quite the family issue that they need to face, the poor judgement they make when they were young, and so on.
I've read Tiger-Nao, but I feel like it's too cliche of a setup. Maybe I just read too many novels so their story kinda felt bland to me. I feel like Tiger has more personality during Fah-Phoon story. But then again, it's about personal opinion.

I didn't realize that my rating can be deceiving. But 7.5 is already high enough for a romance drama
Though a lot of them got TD (take down) but most of them stays.
