Such a beautiful, poignant, and surprisingly understated movie. Not nearly as explicit as I had been led to believe. It may not be for everyone but it definitely deserves a higher rating.

I keep checking back with this page to see if there are any casting updates (specifically if Chishiya will be returning, 'cause if he's not I really don't care if there's a new season), but I keep being disappointed. Sigh.

I just watched the final episode, and when I called himself the "demon", I was like, really? How so? I know very little about the real man, but in this drama he didn't seem better or worse than anyone else "demon"-wise.

It's kind of surreal to be watching episode 11 of this while also watching Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning and realize you're watching two very different depictions of the same historical incident (Ikeyada).

This was so refreshing! An ex who wasn't evil, a love rival who wasn't toxic—just a group of flawed but basically good people. Really enjoyed this one.

I didn't realize that! It definitely explains the similarities. (I still wish the shows themselves would call out the toxicity for what it is, but My Stand-In didn't and I don't expect this one to either. At least now I know what I'm getting!)

I've watched through episode 9 and am about 13 minutes into 10 and I gotta say, Huai'en is giving Ming from My Stand-In a real run for his money in terms of toxicity and self-centeredness. At least Xiaobao doesn't buy his crap and stands up for himself. (Still love the show, though.)

I hope he's a really nice guy in real life, because I've seen him play two characters so far and I've LOATHED them both.

This is perhaps the best review I've ever read and absolutely hilarious and also dead-on accurate. For the entire series I was yelling at Joe to wake up and see how toxic and abusive Ming was, but by the end I was just like, You know what? Whatever. Go back to him. I don't even care anymore.

Seriously! I'm trying to watch now and it is SO ANNOYING! 😡

If Joe ends up with Ming at the very end of this I am going to be REALLY pissed. There is no coming back from the things he's done even if he does a complete 180 on his toxic, narcissistic personality, and so far he is still the exact same person who cost Joe everything the first time. Up is an amazing actor and I love watching him play Ming (especially his emotion in this episode), but as far as I'm concerned Ming the character is wholly unredeemable.
