Book scene, Magistrate Xue was actually a very high positioned official before but couldnt stand the corruption so he went to a smaller town and changed names. Someone in the high court recognized him and testified that he is an honest person.
Here comes the Ye second generation kids (Jiang Li's cousins) Theyre all smart and mature unlike the spoiled aristocrats. Watch them work together to protect their family and wealth.
He doesn't like XFF, she was a mindless beauty for him, because in the novel XFF was hiding her true talents because…
TV is fot dramatics, in the novel there is atteaction there but like I said he is cold and calculative and isnt the type to be emotional and smitten thats why their tension is oozing in the book because everytime he saves her he also himself gets amused he is saving her.
Like the hidden behind dont get yourself killed your life belong to me is like yandere vibes already hehe,
Maternal family has brains both Jiang Li and Ye Shi Jie figured it out and acted smartly. Well done. 👍
The Li family eant the Ye family under their control because theyre mega rich...thats why Ye shije wants to enter the official dom so he could protect their family because while theyre rich, theyre still merchants
Feel a bit sorry for the the cousin who's now disfigured because as she said she's taught to be inferior to others…
In the novel she doesnt really super hate Jiangli its just she sides with Rourou so she would at least be elevated. She is a daughter of a concubine born son so basically socially she is already low. She took the risk of stealing the fiance thinking, being concubine of a Marquis is the highest she can get and earnestly believe that in time he would learn to love her as long as she just gives her best shot.
Soooo from her perspective, she did take a shot...if she wasnt disfigured even she just becomes a concubine thats fine with her...sooo in a way she also just took the chance.
