When other shows you just beg to end, this one I would have loved to continue!!! Ah my heart my poor heart!
I would love a spin-off series that documents the curious cases they encounter, their writing (a collab writing effort would be nice) etc. I would love to see the pair doing the stuff they love—because that is where they shine.
The story plot-wise is nothing new (chaebol-contracted fake relationship to keep meddling older relatives off their backs), but the characters are refreshing—the women here especially. I love the sismance between Ha-ri and Young-seo.
Lol, Grandpa and his drama alarm. Hahaha. xD
Now if only Ha-ri's mum can tone down the shouting. My poor ears.
@Heyanita As pissed and disappointed as I am with the ending of episode 28 your comment made me LOL
We poor starved souls didn't even get to see a proper bloody kiss! 😭
I love Mamá Liang to bits, but damn not this day. Not when we haven't even have that one proper kiss and we can all smell the angst fart fest coming our way.
oh please nooooooo I was hoping we were getting to the good part. Doesit start from episode 28?
You can hear a few hearts breaking as early as 27, then they somehow give us these sweet moments (to lull us into complacency perhaps), then crack again at episode 28...
WTH, before it was laughter all around, now here, free heartbreak for you, heartbreak for you and you and you. Everyone gets a heartbreak. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Episodes 25 and 26 oh my good Lord. My jaw hurts from laughing. xD
I am wondering if Noble Consort Guo seriously bought all the BS that they played out. I hope she doesn't realise she's been duped if only to save the necks of our characters.
I feel Song Jin's pain. Song Jin is literally me every single time when being dragged to go shopping. Ha.
On a more serious note.
As funny as the charade though, I still got the niggling feeling that Qin Xuan is a victim in all this. I dunno. He was willing to go through all that, but in this messy love square, at least QM was able to get what she wants, and doesn't seem to have any regrets. On the other hand, QX couldn't get what he wants and is burdened by regret (that he shouldn't have in the first place). I still think that QX deserves someone else—either the 3rd or 1st cousin would have probably been better for him lol.
Don't get me wrong. What happened to QM was despicable, and I find that really sad, because no one deserves that—her holier-than-thou attitude grates on my nerves big time, especially since their family's downfall, but that does not warrant what befell her. But I feel really ambivalent towards her actions later, especially when she had no qualms whatsoever about planting the blame on QX. I think if she plotted to have that fatty Wang Shun gutted and killed in the most horrible way and made it look like an accident, or somebody else did it, I would probably admire her. I dunno.
This drama is killing me in more ways than I imagine. xD
One of those moments where I badly wish my Chinese was already at a level where I can power through dramas. LOL. Eng subs are just killing me.
The food porn is literally making me hungry (my stomach is grumbling the whole time cooking scenes are shown). Actually taking note of the food, and researching them. Ha!
It will get better, then it will get kind of worse, then it will get better again towards the end. :) Haha. Sorry,…
Yeah, agree with you on that front. Disappointed about that redemption arc, because I think there was a huge potential there which they kinda just blew off (I haven't read the novel so this is entirely based on the drama).
It will get better, then it will get kind of worse, then it will get better again towards the end. :) Haha. Sorry,…
Sorry for the late reply, this will be quite lengthy (because some of the details got mixed up already lols).
At this stage, cousin family life is a mess: everybody dead, she's the only one alive, and she's married to Yan Shifan as Sima Chang'an. And yep, she blames Jinxia for it. Nothing new there.
Lu Yi takes her to some remote temple outside of Hangzhou, and we conveniently forget that she still exists. JX and LY make some investigations again, but at the end of one where they had to save Aunty Lin (because she was kidnapped by Yan Shifan), JX gets semi-injured (not invalid but she's not 100%).
I'm going to skip some of the details, but the gist is this: LY, Canal Gang (including Xie Xiao + Shangguan Xi) + Shaolin Monks, Yang Shifu + Uncle Beggar + Aunty Lin, and Da Yang all head off to war to battle the pirates. Before setting off to war, Cousin makes an appearance (she's back in the radar again) because LY asks for help (she donates all her fam's assets to help the war effort) BUT she asks to be taken to the capital. She does so because she was told by Yan Shifan (who else) that she has a mission (kill JX). LY leaves her at the Hangzhou Inn where all of them are staying including the semi-injured JX. The rest then go to war.
Yan Shifan wants LY to get distracted by JX's death so the war effort will be lost. But JX is one smart tough cookie despite being injured and was able to fight off the only attempt that Cousin makes at her life. She basically tells her that she's being played and that if you try to see the bigger picture, the person who told you this is trying to harm LY the one person in this world who actually still cares for you. Cousin kind of conveniently disappears again after this one stabbing attempt.
She appears again during the fight at Hangzhou where the Madame Qi + JX + Da Yang help lead the defence effort. (Da Yang + Yang Shifu had to return because Shifu was injured on the way to war). Cousin gets inspired by the speech delivered by JX and Mme Qi and decides to turn a new leaf + help in the little way she can. JX goes to her and gives her a Captain America shield.
During the fighting cousin gets stabbed but JX helps her and she's sent off to get medical attention. And we don't hear/see her again after the defence of Hangzhou was concluded. . . . . . . . . . . . Next time we see her she's on her deathbed. She says she's envious of JX and Mme Qi who both could take their lives into their own hands.
At this stage, if you're curious whether Dong Qisheng still lives, yes, the cockroach still lives, but now in jail.
And yes, Cousin dies after a blink-or-you'll-miss-it redemption arc.
At ep 37 and I'm going to have to put this on hold. I initially liked where this drama was going even though the…
It will get better, then it will get kind of worse, then it will get better again towards the end. :) Haha. Sorry, that's how I can describe its trajectory (it's like a sinusoidal wave lols). The next few episodes will turn the cousin arc into something a wee bit better.
I'm really wondering what the secret of the second family is that is causing the fourth madam not to be kicked…
Yeah me too. When it seems they are the most decent family in the whole household, and the 2nd Master seems to be the head of the household rather than the 1st Master.
I would love a spin-off series that documents the curious cases they encounter, their writing (a collab writing effort would be nice) etc. I would love to see the pair doing the stuff they love—because that is where they shine.
PS: I actually liked the ending? Is that weird?

I apologise for venting out here.

And the wait for the episodes is just pure agony.
At any rate, glad to be of help. :)
