A for effort
I was very excited to watch this season,so much so that i finished this in one sitting. Doing so,i developed a lot of opinions about the show,so i have a lot to say about many things.Acting: Brilliant performances by each and every actor,Park Jihoon has always been my favourite but Bae Nara swooshed me away with his acting,he was stoic most of the time, but he still portrayed so much. Acting Wise this deserves more than 10 stars.
Plot:The Plot itself had a lot of potential, and for a significant part it reached the standards the first season had set, however that was not always the case. I'd say mostly it was the pace of storytelling which became an obstacle but it could've been much better.
Pacing: Fast paced, but it was not always a plus point for the show. because of how fast the story was progressing,at times it felt like there was no space for us to connect each thing to what's happening in the story. It was very obvious something happened between Baekjin and Humin, but that end was never really tied. Why was the whole school afraid of Humin? No answer. These questions should've been answered in the show.
I was pleasantly surprised with Beomseok's appearance,it was a good decision to show him as the subconcious or Guilt of Sieun pulling him back to sleep.
But i believe this Season didn't explore the feelings of the characters as good as the first season did. Juntae was honestly a lost opportunity on this. I found him and Sieun of 1st season to be very similar, and that angle could've been explored more.
Suho waking up from the coma was a good thing to watch too, there should've been a few more minutes of him and Sieun.
Seongjae was a complete psychopath ngl,but i liked his character,i knew he was upto no good when he suddenly decide to help sieun,so it was a good decision to have a character so unpredictable. however i didn't like how he just disappeared in the middle, the promotion of the show made it feel like he was much more of an important character than he played here, but i guess he will be the main antagonist of season 3 if there ever is one.
In conclusion,i liked the show, I'd even say it was worth the wait. but it didn't quite reach the standards i had in mind for the sequel of a show this great.

An....Effort
Honestly I don't know what went wrong with this. the premise was good, the plot could've been executed very well but it just wasn't. Let's talk about the positives first. The Acting. As usual, Gun is amazing. All the other actors did really well too which includes Film, Nani, Jane and Dew, kudos to the actor who played Prasath, guy was so creepy he gave me chills every time he was on screen. Chimon played Pennhueng exceptionally well that i wanted to protect him as well, Love also played a pathological liar very well. Amazing acting.
Now i think that was the only best part of the series. While i must say the series maintained it's suspense element, but there were so many things that ruined it.
For once, why was no other Gen 4 student shown, like ever? Why did the series start with Run running away and getting caught, but no idea what actually made him take the final step of running away? (or maybe i missed it, but I'm sure i didn't.)
Next, Jingjai and Hugo were shown leaving for another city when they went back home, why didn't they leave? actually how was even the police involved with the Home School administration to bring them back when they first tried running away?
Another question is, how does hypnosis even work? At one point we're shown Master Amin is hypnotized to the point his views change, and the students also get hypnotized that they turn into potential killers. but then we see that students like Jingjai stop themselves moments before killing them, without any intervention like Fuji and Biw had. I get that "love" made others stop, but even then they had to be reminded of it, why did Jingjai stop? So many questions which never get answered.
Now we come to the characterization.I think Dew and Nani were not seperate characters of their own and I'll stand by this. They were very superficial, only existing for the female leads (which i saw for the very first time, usually it's the other way around, #.malesinfemaledominatedfields lol). Even Maki didn't feel...real till her backstory was revealed, which still didn't help much. the only characters i could comnect with was Love and Chimon's, who actually showed development and felt like real characters. even jingjai and fuji had better development than dew's and nani's character.
This could've been a power show if it wasn't for the plotholes and odd characterization, with a great cast(which i didn't understand the reason of half of it disappearing in the second half). Maybe even reducing the number of episodes would've helped, made it bit more coherent.
Wish to see better stories with similar vibes with these actors again, they deserve the chance. Just will regret the lost potential of this series.

Promising Plot and start, didn't maintain it.
I had high hopes for this drama since i like both the main leads. I have watched a few of their dramas and none were as confusing (and mediocre) as this one. When i first read the synopsis,it was promising, and there was a great chance to execute the story well. But that unfortunately didn't happen.
The Start of the show was good,it was fun and made me continue watching, but it all fell off after that. Maybe it was around the time the second ML was introduced? but since then it was very hard to continue this show because of different reasons.
1-The characters (especially the main leads) stopped being what they initially were shown us to be. I'm not sure how to describe it properly, but they just felt flat after they kissed for the first time.
2-There were many plot holes.
3-Many characters didn't have a reason to be there. They felt like props to make the show look grander than it was.
4- There was never enough explanation given.
a) Why were the Second FL and ML even engaged in the first place for business when she's so clearly in love with him? But she also doesn't want to marry him?? Very confusing.
b)what even was the purpose for the umbrella? Also, I don't think giving up on emotional support items you've kept with you for years is as easy as it's shown in the show.
c)I still don't know what was the purpose of the Sister and her boyfriend's plot? Was it just to show the FL finally "bursting or breaking down"? Because if it was,it was very anticlimatic, especially considering they never treated her wrong.
The comedy of the show fell flat and was too over the top(considering I've laughed to way too many "bad" and "cringy" dramas according to people). The characters were shallow in my opinion. The actors didn't have much to work with,so i didn't even feel the chemistry between them. Overall a miss for me.

The story is amazing, not sure about the characters
As someone who's a big fan of the thriller genre but not so of the political genre,i still enjoyed this drama. The plot was good, the acting was also great. It has it's own moments of thrill. But i hated how some characters were so one dimensional. The lead's family didn't feel like fully developed characters, instead to me they felt like plot devices,to help enhance the Lead's likeability. Also the Secretary's character also felt very flat. The characters make bad decisions and somehow they end up being right,it was kinda annoying to watch. but I'm still very satisfied with the drama, sven though the revelation of the Mastermind felt very anticlimatic. Was this review helpful to you?
