I sincerely hope we will watch Aum lead a really good lakorn again. A epic with history, fightings and romance. I really miss him leading a good lakorn.

It is becoming more common find producers using popular leads to support new actors. Maybe Aum is very expensive to engage for full drama. Or Aum himself is on semi retirement. He wants to support new lakorns and new actors but he does not want to lead. He rather have less scenes. Thus we see more second pairing. In CDrama. this is becoming a recent practise too. Using big names to raise rating but they dont have as much screentime. We are watching less and less of Aum on screen theses days. So sad.

China needs to move on from this RPG style drama, a group of hero on a quest.... seriously >_< every year there…
China create such theme drama based on interest that Chinese like. Chinese games are based on similar style. And as a international viewer, if you enjoy it. You watch it. Otherwise, skip it. But Chinese productions will continue creating this style that China viewers enjoy. Your opinion will not mean a thing to them. Unless you are Chinese, lives in China and has huge following that will protest it. Otherwise, you should stick to dramas you enjoy. Or you produce your own productions. That is also a solution.
The cast of the 2009 production was very strong. Old Master is legendary Kungfu actor, Shaolin Gaochun is well cast, Deng Chao as Wuji was spot on. Ady An was great as Zhao Min too. Along with other young actress. I am most impressed with the middle aged cast as we are seeing more young new rookies taking on older characters. And with budget limitations, the cast of new dramas are not age appropriate. Definitely the best cast in many series to come. Of course those viewers that just love pretty boys acting in drama will not enjoy this casting.
I also love how they filmed the WuDang on the real Wudang Mountain itself. That was a beautiful historical site. We no longer see much filming done that due to it age and they cannot use the site too much for filming.
