Going so so well, until ep 15... the rhythm went out of synch... admist all the rencontres, Su Wuming speech pattern…
Yeah… most of us felt the same. It felt like LuLu was OOC for that particular tidbit. It erupted quite a stir not just on here, but C-fans as well. Thankfully, it died down with a positive note.

The poet fanatic is quite an amicable guy, the things he done for his idol poet🤩.
I knew I could trust him. To me, he was giving a most lovable vibe for a good guy.

For Case 5, I was worried seeing the writer recycle the same theme (man/woman love element) back-to-back from Case 4. However, the ending was nicely done and recovered from a monotonous progression of the play. I like Ruan Daxiong from the start. He has a big heart and a love for poetry. Even the other two poets kinda looked down on him, but he kept his head down and stayed grounded. In which, later, his actions and good deeds earned him respect from the two poets, and acknowledged his good nature and character. May I add to the mix, SWM too.

So, the gang unofficially became ‘secret agents’ to the Secret Agents of the Yongzhou Office. Everybody played their part superbly. But seriously, I’d like to point out that Lady Pei became the primary benefactor to the whole organization; technically, she funded the whole operation. Is this gonna start the legacy of Pei Clan of Hedong funding the cledenstine unit in Yongzhou Prefecture? That’s gonna spark so many controversies and create a conflict of interest, especially later, after Xijun marries LuLu, while he still holds his post as Judicial Officer there. Not to mention, her sworn brother, SWM is the chief of that particular office too.

One thing bugs me about this case is did Xijun purposely conspired with the rest of the poets to let the newlyweds escape? I have to watch back the episode and read her expression to see any hint if she was in it with the poets. LuLu was caught in a judgment call again; maybe she wanted to lighten LuLu’s burden of responsibility for prosecuting his friend, Leng Ji. Or maybe Xijun purely wanted to help Leng Ji. Xijun’s involvement was quite significant during the case in Nanzhou during S1, and same as LuLu, she built a friendship with Leng Ji. The same goes for Master Fei, whilst I don’t think Yingtao was in it because she was not there. Xijun and Master Fei are both civilians; they did not uphold any responsibility for catching criminals. So….

🤔 I don’t know, maybe I'm thinking too much. Nonetheless, great case.

Yep. I did notice it too, referring to my last comment for Case 4 🤭.
What in Case 4 as a whole, Meng Buyi/HongYao, etc.. May I add what in Case 2, also. Maybe the writer was in love when he was writing SToTD 3. He did mention and I quoted, “…At any given moment, you can only write what you can write at that moment, and you can't surpass that moment….” 😏

Yes, I searched!"The story of the "fake musician" in ancient China refers to a man named Mr. Nanguo,…
I noticed it too. I thought it was a part of the acting, only to find it was not when Xijun mentioned it to LuLu.

Guess Mr. Nanguo is a literal definition of a ‘con artist’. You've done me a good deed. Thank you for sharing.

They did an undercover sting and we got a brief of Lu Wuming and Su Lingfeng! I don’t know much about poetry but I do enjoy the sword dance, especially when Yingtao joins with the plate dance.

I don’t get it about the fake musician? Maybe somebody can enlighten me. Are there any mentions in ancient Chinese history?

If I try to imagine them in bed I can only see two wooden trunks lying next to each other. XJ may be brave enough…
What you pointed out makes sense. Plus, they both come from noble and well-respected families; surely that kind of arrangement provokes corrupted perceptions and gossip from the rest of the populace. It’s indeed quite odd.

No 😳😁 please don’t put that kind of image in my head.

On the other hand, I get what you’re saying, and I think that all LuLu has been doing in the past two seasons. LOL. Although we get to see the changing pace in S3. It’s refreshing.

Xijun ais always taking the initiative so I wouldn't be surprised if she is the one initiating a kiss 🤭 a forehead…
A forehead kiss by the female counterpart? That should be interesting and rare in C-drama. I’d like to see that too.

I think the writer of SToTD is a romantic person. We get these doses of heartfelt love stories in every season. And I'm not complaining ❤️.

As LuLu and Xijun, can they just kiss already? Lulu kisses the tipsy Xijun or drunken Xijun ‘accidentally’ kisses Lulu.

Sorry, my head is foggy with all the love talk in Case 4😁. Not in a million years, Lulu is going to kiss Xijun while she's drunk. He's not gonna take advantage of Xijun because he cares for her too much. Same goes to Xijun, she’s too noble and courteous, no way in hell she's gonna act like an uncouth commoner. I can only dream 😂.

When I see you calling him LuLu I can't help but imagine his reaction to being called like that🤣😭
卢卢 LuLu is the nickname given by the C-fans of SToTD to LLF. Even the production team acknowledged it. There’s a claim that C-fans call him LuLu and they love it when he’s angry. He tends to huff and puff and the C-fans think he's cute; he’s like a pufferfish.

As far as I remember, we here at MDL, some of us (including me) have been using the nickname since S2. Because it's cute. Now, during an interview, the rest of the cast jokingly keep calling him Li Ling Feng, probably because of his royal blood from his mother 😁.

Not sure if you've seen this but here is a behind the scene of how YXW trained for the 3 sword fighthttps://weibo.com/tv/show/1034:5230680255430678
Yep , seen it. And the one from the STOTD Weibo thread. https://weibo.com/tv/show/1034:5230573568851973?from=old_pc_videoshow

A lot of hard work and first-class discipline. Practice in training clothes was already outstanding, but doing it all over again in armor suits was beyond impressive. Imagine how hot in that armor suit. Not to mention the limited movements that YXW had to accommodate just to have on-point execution of the fighting sequences. So unreal. And I know it's not real armor, but seriously, they built the suit, hand-stitched and metallic scales. Not some prop that came out of a resin or plastic mold. So… it must be heavy.

I know fighting mythical beasts is a big feature of this genre and they are very well executed in this series.…
True, true. I’ve seen some of the fight scenes with people in other C-dramas; they looked like they were dancing. Thankfully, not in here.

I love the spear too. In dramas, it can only be seen on the battlefield and not as a weapon that can be carried…
Yep, Master Fei is plain genius. Fei knows LuLu is gonna need that weapon everywhere he goes. So, that's how his sly plan came to life. Chop them first, tell LuLu later. LOL. And that spear became the victim of Fei's crafty brain, first got cut in threes in S1, then got forfeited in a gambling loss due to his drunk ass in S2. LOL..
