What's weird for me is I don't like ANY of the drama's main characters. Didn't like them in the first two seasons…
Somehow, I like this kind of acting by YXW and YZG. I don’t know much about theater, but they both (all of them) made the acting look so much fun and lively.

@PeachBlossomGoddess Fighting beasts (especially CGIs) can be tricky. However, that's the charm in STOTD. They were not just fighting people but also the supernatural beings and mythical beasts. Right from the start, I knew that every fight scene in the series gonna be a treat for me. In S1, they fought a variety of wild animals, and in S2, the writer got creative and used the monsters from the Classic of Mountains and Seas, which I find fascinating. The fight scenes with the beasts in S2 totally blew my mind away, with what in Mara’s Defeat case and Mo’s Inn case topping my favorite list. With that said, for obvious reasons, it’s one of many things that I look forward to in S3 😊.

Additional note: LuLu’s solo fight scenes were exceptional. So glad that the production team brought back the 3-sword fight scene from S1 into S3 episode 5, apparently, it’s one of the fan-favorites. But personally, I love LuLu fighting with his spear more. It’s rare in drama and I think it's way more cooler than just using a sword. Props to Actor YXW, who’s working hard, executing every sequence and movement without looking awkward, and making it natural and believable. Bravo! 👏

Yes, super reminiscent of the Inn case. Tbh all cases so far have been really lack luster but this one especially…
Let's see how the series picks up its pace after Case 3. Still have a long way to go till the 40th 😊.

To each their own. I really enjoyed the Case 3 fight scenes. They were a bit cruel but the use of the claw was…
Agreed, everyone has their own preference. I think the last fighting scene with the beast Ao Tian was the saving grace for me. The rest fighting scenes in this Case 3 were a bit redundant.

The writer, Wei Feng Hua, wrote quite a long post on his weibo before the show aired on 8. I used google translate…
Yep. I think I read it somewhere, somehow. The writer is quite active in interacting with the viewers and fans. It commendable.

Regardless of my sentiment about Case 3, I still have high hopes for S3. The series has just started, not even reached half of the list of episodes. I believe there is still a lot to offer. Praying it to be as good as the predecessors. Or exceed them better. Series like STOTD is a unicorn; it should be protected at all costs 😊.

(So we can have S4, S5, S6, till infinity. I talked out of greed, my bad 😁 )

As for Case 3, it was errrr.. 🤔 luckluster for me. Most of the time, the hunting team members were bickering in a nonconstructive way. And the director put nearly 50% episode 13 with fighting scenes. When they were about to fight in Episode 14, I was like… huh? Again? All these fighting scenes, dare I say, are useless and not entertaining. Another thing, as they arrived at the tavern/temple, it was giving the Mo’s Inn case in S2 vibe or even the Gantang Outpost case in S1, but not quite alike. It fell short. Hmmm… I'm gonna put a blind trust in the writer and director for Case 3, and see how it goes. And please, don’t suck.

I know it's in history, but this palace court's schemes and the political shenanigans start to weary me. And every time the Grand Princess tries to compete with her nephew infuriates me. Does she ever think that her schemes might gonna get his son killed? I'm starting to doubt she is even on LuLu and SWM’s side, with the way she forsaken her commander carelessly to the bird because of her ego. Sigh... Maybe I’m not cut this kind of drama. I like solving murder mysteries more 😭.

My beloved gang of misfits is back. So far has been good. Case 1 with a running theme of kindness and forgiveness. I’m glad that the writer used the whole event of the golden peach envoy with an actual investigation case. Not as an intro or filler for the sake of S3 continuation. It successfully maintained the momentum that was left from S2 because it made me think that I just watched the last episode of S2.

Case 2 is all about love. Motherly love, love of a daughter, maniacal love, love of wealth and money, budding new love, and obsession in love. It nearly became a tragic love of Wu Yang and Ah Mu. I got a feeling that we’ll see their story again in the future, with Chi Yang hounding her daughter to Hanzhou. Plus, considering that Ma Meng was listed in the additional cast and his minor participation in the early promo when they announced S3, as far as I remember. But I could be wrong. Hehe..

It seems that they changed the synopsis recently, first, it was Su Wu Ming the shopkeeper then now, it’s Master…
Yup, I know Douban. However, I prefer not to hang around there much because the comments/discussions can be a little bit…. ‘unkind’, if you know what I mean. Weibo and here it is good enough for me, hehe.

I know the production team is really attentive to the fans’ opinions, but I didn’t know about SWM’s fans’ grievances. Maybe I read past that on the WB drama thread. However, what they suggested makes sense.

Yup, kinda agreed with you. It’s a lot of dynamic and fun if they all move together since the format was introduced in S2. Or maybe they keep the good stuff aside, to keep the mystery alive. You never know.

Nonetheless, thanks for the insights 😊. Now, I gonna wait patiently for S3 to come.

It seems that they changed the synopsis recently, first, it was Su Wu Ming the shopkeeper then now, it’s Master Fei. I thought before this that the writer mentioned that Pei Xi Jun going to open a shop. Hmm… It’s keep changing. 🤷

It true they changed the director. This time, Director Bai Shan as one of the producer and Director Ju Xing Mao, with among his previous works consisting of Dog Stick, Ferryman 1,2,3, and Braveheart 1,2. I am also a bit apprehensive about the changes, but mostly c-fans comments have been positive. I gonna be optimistic and hope for the best. 🤞
