This is definitely setting up to get a season 2. The drama is called Durian's affair and there is little to no screentime between durian and the ml, also no progress of relationship betweem seo jeo and her ml, not to mention need more scenes between mil and durian as well as more info on what happened in the past that made mil the villain also their dynamic now. Tbh i really like mil as well as the first son, they don't seem like annoying characters (compared to ayla and second dil)

I love your points, I think people are just trying to find every reason they can to hate on this drama, they forget that there are so many dramas that are in the same genre who do the same things and they like those dramas. The FL is not some idol actress so I can see why not everyone is on board, also people tend to escape through dramas, so when they find characters that are actually how they would act, they tend to judge harshly. Personally, the female character is very realistic, I see myself in her shoes, people might think she is annoying or cold, but I would react the same way if someone maxed out my credit card, kissed me without my consent, decided to free board at my house and said ridiculous things like they are a vampire, let's be honest, how many of us would find the ML's character to be creepy or called the cops on them. If anything, this FL is actually very nice and gives the ML many chances and even defends him when he is wrongfully accused of things. She is also not afraid of him (but then again, FL said it best, "I am more scared of humans who suck other humans dry rather than vampires"). She had a tough childhood and still made the best of her situation, and she is a temp school nurse who cares about her students (which is why she doesn't want a vampire to work near kids who might be bleeding, also given how ML literally kissed her because he couldn't control his urge). I have not seen her make a single unreasonable decision yet. I might be slightly biased because FL is INSANELY beautiful and I love her husky sexy voice haha but I will defend her because people in MDL tend to forgive creepy, stalkerish and toxic traits of MLs just because they are their favorite idol actors, however, they are so quick to judge FLs over stupid shit. Also in response to the drama's plot itself, sure, there are some silly tropes (which personally makes it a campy watch, and helps me to shut off my brain because it's not stressful), but we as viewers still have questions that keep us going, for example, who is the second male lead's character (is he a vampire hunter? and if so how will he act as the villain?), what about the doppelganger of ML's past lover (although many people are saying that she just looks like her and not the actual past lover's reincarnation, we can't be sure yet), how will the show end (will ML end up becoming human and if so how will he become human?). I am pretty sure this will have a happy ending but for shows like this it's about HOW we get to that point and the character/romance development which keeps the audience watching. I am glad that you are defending the show and also enjoying it, because I am.

FL is super realistic lol I would be yelling at the ML if he maxed out my card too. Also her survival mentality makes sense since she had to fend for herself while growing up.

Absolutely loved the 4th episode, especially the chemistry between San Young and Professor Hae Sang. It's not romantic but they work so well with each other and there is just something there, like mutual understanding and respect. I love the subtle and quiet dynamic they share.

As for the story itself, it has me totally hooked, now this is what I call a good classic Korean folk horror. The story seamlessly incorporates elements of folklore that has me intrigued, so I did a little research, although I couldn't find a lot of information online in English. Mostly used the namu wiki in Korean to learn more about yeommae (魘魅) that was mentioned in this episode.

Yi Ik was a Joseon Dynasty politician, economist and neoconfucian philosopher who wrote about yeommae in his book, Seonghosaseol (星湖僿說, 1723). Yeommae (厭魅) is a type of magic from the East, considered one of the most evil of Eastern witchcraft. In Japan, it was also regarded as the worst witchcraft along with 고독 which literally translates to loneliness, aka feeding off of isolation of individuals. There are shamans who steal children from other people's houses and deliberately starve them, barely enough to keep them from dying. Occasionally, only small portions of delicious food are fed, and the child loses weight and dries up to the point of almost dying (in the drama they starved the girl for 17 days I think?). After making this, put a good side dish in a bamboo tube and entice the child to enter the tube. The child sees the good side dish and tries to break through the bamboo tube while struggling to get full. At this time, shaman stabs the child with a sharp knife as fast as lightning and kills her. So, after the child's spirit jumps into the bamboo tube, the bamboo tube is tightly closed to prevent the soul from escaping. Then, with the bamboo tube, the shaman visits wealthy houses, attracting the spirits of children with good food and making many people sick. This is thought to be have caused illnesses like small pox and other diseases. As the ghost of this child invades, everyone suffers. After all those sick people ask to be healed, the shaman lures the child's ghost to heal them and the money made from healing them is what gives the shaman fortune and wealth. 새타니 (Saetani) is the spirit of a child who died in childhood (juvenile ghost), and what gives shaman the supernatural power. It is the spirit of a child who died of illness or starvation due to smallpox , etc.

So according to the episode, San Young's mom is the descendent of the family of the girl who was starved, so my question is who is the shaman (my assumption is that the Professor's ancestor might be the original shaman - according to the folk legend, the shaman gains wealth/fortune, also could explain why Professor can see ghosts? Just some thoughts.

I thought the past lover will make a reappearance as another character in the present world so I am still holding on hope that the FL is not a reincarnation that would be so lame

That confession scene to me made kdrama history LOL I love how serious it was and totally turned the trope upside down, like NOBODY would have seen that coming, its so makjang and over the top and then the reaction of the family was HILARIOUS. Im going to rewatch that whole scene its just so good. I hope this drama keeps on GIVING in terms of over the top crazy situations lol oh also those two ladies from joseon legit look like ghosts woth their long hair the whole set up was done so well

I love that this drama doesn't take itself too seriously, it's just running with the concept of vampires without being overly serious. I like dramas that are self aware, its a comedy kdrama and thats what it delivered to us in the first episode with some beautiful costume and set design to give us nostalgia for historical/1930s vibe dramas.
Also kudos for avoiding tropes (i hate reincarnation "you only love one person" bs in dramas soooo much, i think its totally unrealistic and stupid so I am glad the FL is just a regular 21st century girl and not some past flame blah blah). And the last scene of episode 1 was hilarious, I loved it! This is going to be a cute fantasy rom com to fill my mondays and tuesdays yay

Lol they're not really actors but beauty pageant queens so it's not really expected that they would be as good as professional actors. So i applaud them for trying and doing fanservice by actually participating in this drama 😂

oh boyyyy i have such a mad crush on meena/engfa, you can tell meena is basically engfa haha, also engfa gives major bi girl energy, is she actually bi irl, i heard that somewhere but need confirmation. i'm still warming up to charlotte's acting, but i think she is getting better at portraying inner gay panic in the latest episodes and both are getting braver ;) can't wait for next episode

They really squeezed so much in the last 30 minutes of this drama so I feel like it all just ended....abruptly. typical daily drama. Overall this was a good watch, Park Ha Na and Kang Ji Sub have such great chemistry, was mostly watching for them, I hope they get to work together in another project and with more romance. The revenge in this drama was lame but I loved the characters and their shenanigans.
