I feel like this is one of the few dramas where the second guy (Un) outshines the main guy (Baek Dong Soo) I'm…
given that the one being betrayed was Un, i actually think "Un, the assassin" suits this drama better. the most heroic act of all was his ultimate sacrifice.
to everyone planning to watch this drama. please avoid the last 18 minutes of final episode and you'll be okay (or at least not too frustrated)!
or, just skip the whole ep.29 and the last part of ep.28 and you'll be okay, period!
what a deep and touching drama.
if only not for that freaking ending-according-to-fate cliche and those last happy-go-lucky minutes, i'd give this drama 100 on 10.
i hate to complain about endings. specially beautiful ones. but just can't consider such story perfect. i usually don't get involved in drama plots, and honestly love it when they kill off a main character. but am sure i'm not the only one pissed off by [not the ending but ] seeing Cho Rip appearing happy, safe and sound in the end. and the only one actually missing Yeo Woon [for a while] was Dong Soo. i was like "classy! they killed their best friend completely needlessly and lived happily ever after!" .
not to mention killing (ok, trying, even deciding to kill ) him completely voided Dong Soo's word that he'll never give up on his friend. i don't think that's how you portrait your drama's protagonist. intentionally or most probably unintentionally, they actually made us feel like Woon was the hero there. and that's not good for a drama named "Warrior Baek Dong Soo"!
except for that fact, and the performance of a certain actress, everything else was amazing.
wow, i usually don't like old dramas (barely bear new ones) but this one's daebak! Now i understand why they say this drama started hallyu wave. it's a complete melodrama desk reference! talk about fixing every single misunderstanding! every obstacle that could get in a couple's way (that i can think of, without making it action) is there. but still, calling it cliche is distasteful, 'cause there's a sense of originality to all its cliches to make it desirable for a rewatch. it's been a while since a romantic story made me think this long. and i'm not even a melodrama fan!
it's good to see a historical drama with as little cliche as possible. it wasn't predictable. and man, that plot twist of ep18!
the ending wasn't as magnificent as i hoped. but it wasn't hanging imo. it got resolved in a way that it made the love triangles resolve too. the problem is, the whole drama was so good that it made the ending look somehow not exciting.
the only thing i regret is that the characters' potentials were very high. they could show so much more of the king and guardians. but that's precisely the reason i'd never, ever miss on such an awesome drama and characters. such rare deep and distinctive personalities. i'm glad i watched it. and i know i'll be re-watching for a while.^___^
It isn't available for the United States :'( why I want to See these dramas :(
This is the first time i hear something's not available in US. o.o
no offense, but usually things are unavailable in other countries "due to US policy" :/
Like the story but had to drop it I've found some scenes unnecessary.
how can someone actually "drop" a movie? you decide to go to cinema or not, if you go, you watch it (at least for your money's sake) and head back home. the whole process probably takes less than 3 hours. o.O
Wow! I first saw Ryu Deok Hwan in Faith and had no idea he could act so flawless: his performance in those last 3 episodes, nailed it! i'll have to marathon through the remaining two seasons; this is getting better every season^___^
Another boring drama that people kept recommending to me. at first i thought it'll be good because of those two smart first episodes and cast and fantasy. but i was wrong. God, the dragging, the costumes, the whole bunch of fools running the palace and country!
I've been watching many dramas now, and i've never taken them too seriously. but this point is when i should start to take them seriously!
i'm hoping for a second season that's not going to ruin the unique taste this one left in my mouth.^^
the plot started to go on a little slow from episode 16 or so. and the melodrama always annoys me. but deep, dimensional characters and Lee Minho acting awesome in a historical drama surprised me. i totally hated his performance in modern ones like BOF and "personal taste" so I wasn't going to even watch this one (kind of an anti fan lol). but This Drama completely changed my opinion of him. i'm looking forward to historical dramas he'll hopefully get in future.
and that musical piece, "I'm a warrior": OH MY GOD. it became my no.1 favorite drama OST piece (and i'm saying that with songs from the kinds of "Beethoven virus" and "my Girl" in mind!).
or, just skip the whole ep.29 and the last part of ep.28 and you'll be okay, period!
