Give it a watch, it might be worth your time.

I’m all about the high speed chase when it comes to romance dramas I don’t usually do slow burns, so I passed on this drama once or twice before. Until one day I was on YouTube casually browsing when I fell victim to those outrageously titled C-Drama clips and decided to give “My Dear Guardian” a try despite the bad reviews. I’m so glad I decided to watch it.

Although MDG is 40 episodes, I’m not mad at it at all. I think Xia Chu and Mu Ze had a lot to work on in terms of their professional careers and healing from their past. The pacing made sense to me. I was on the edge of my seat every episode while watching their love quietly blossom.

On Xia Chu’s personality: She’s incredibly smart, bubbly and energetic. I would liken her personality/tone to that of the cute characters that Esther Yu, Zhao Lusi, or Dilraba Dilmurat played in their past work. If those type of characters are not your favorite then you might not like Xia Chu but I still say give it a try.

As with any dramas there was a little bit of propaganda here and there but none that had me wanting to stop watching. After all this is a medical/military drama so I expected no less.

The OST is top tier, there are so many good songs to add to your playlist. Overall this was the perfect adult romance to watch when you want a break from the craziness the drama world has to offer.

P.S. iykyk I hope those figurines of Mu Ze and Xia Chu are on sale I need them ASAP.
