They are not fillers. It's a revenge Drama against step mother, ex husband and princess, ex mother and sister…
yes, agreed! i don't think any of the episodes have been fillers at all. the screenwriter clearly knows what they're doing by tweaking the novel plot points to fit within the constraints of a 40-episode drama
honestly i think "fillers"* are important for the overall narrative too. i've been enjoying this drama because of the rich cast of characters
not to mention that i've seen comments asking why JSR is so hellbent on getting rid of JL — this episode shows us why! plus now XFF is more informed and has gained another motivation to redress the injustice both JL's mom and aunt hu has suffered
(*i put this in quotes bc actual filler episodes don't have any relevance to the main content of the drama. today's ep is not a filler; it's clearly intended to be significant exposition to help XFF build her case against JSR 🫡 it ultimately keeps the plot moving forward)
JSR saying "i'm not vicious enough" girl what!!!! yes she's probably just perpetuating her family's cycle of abuse but she chose to harm an innocent child and then ordered her maid to throw the body into the water to cover up her crime like... that's real villain shit. she's a top scorer in the vicious department
The difference is that in Royal Feast, a'li was her childhood nickname that only those closest to her (family…
yes!!! i really enjoyed the depth of her character in Royal Feast ^_^ i also feel that her nickname in RF has deeper ties with her backstory. i just found it cute how it suits her in both dramas (and now i'm thinking about how she's gotten into identity shenanigans twice now haha)
I guess the story of that maid will be addressed when dealing with the Princess, cause XFF is suspecting her maid…
YES agreed. there's a part of me that hopes the ex-husband somehow has a hand in her death lol i want her to realise that if he can kill his wife then of course he can kill her too. and then we don't have to see both of them anymore god bless
I guess the story of that maid will be addressed when dealing with the Princess, cause XFF is suspecting her maid…
ahh right! i guess the maid became a loose end that the shen family/princess wanning had to deal with. now i wonder if she's either dead or trapped in her torture chamber
there's one plot point i still wonder about in the back of my mind — will we find out what happened to XFF's previous maid :O (XFF did ask bai xue about her whereabouts in ep 6, but i don't think they've brought it up again since then...)
The way they call each other Xiao Heng and A Li sometimes...
truly there is nothing more intimate than two people finally calling each other's personal names when previously they've only addressed each other by their proper titles... (sighing dreamily) kudos to the leads for giving me major brainrot. i haven't been this invested in a cp in a long while
the last few minutes of today's ep felt so domestic 🥺 high-tension drama is always fun but i also love that they balance it out with quieter moments between the two leads
