yeah i think cao xiaotian (the screenwriter) was who made it great. idk what happened to yang long's camera work here lmao (there are some good moments, but the editing weakens his efforts. the production team is probably to blame)

it happened differently in the novel so i guess the drama altered it so ML would have a backstory hahaha XYF sent XYL there as a punishment

aw i just saw a comment that said chu zhao represents the hope of ending the war between great chu and the northern desert :") her parents really loved each other even if they couldn't stay together

hahaha sure! i think that's just the fate of most IP adaptations... it's hard to remain faithful to it (which can turn out for the good or bad)

one thing i liked about how the novel handled today's emotional conflict re: CZ's relationship with her dad → very early on, when XYL meets chu ling, chu ling tells him how he doesn't want chu zhao to come back to yunzhong bc the capital is better for her future bla bla and a jiu basically tells him that his thinking comes from his perspective as a parent, but for the child it can be heartbreaking. chu ling thinks hiding the truth from her is the best thing to do, but a jiu couldn't stand that BS reasoning lolol (probably because of how his mom died)

the screenwriter messed things up by going for a convoluted plotline to drive misunderstandings sigh both CZ and XYL felt kinda OOC. also this just me wanting more people to check out the novel hahahahaha

yeah i think they're both smart enough to be aware that there's someone (XYF...) playing them from the shadows. but emotions are running high!!!! chu zhao's basically losing both her parents T_T

LOL the novel and drama have already diverged in a lot of aspects so i can't even say for sure... but it most likely will, considering we're already at the drama's halfway point

i get where everyone in this episode is coming from and it's a whole lot of hurt 😭 please make up soon
