no body, no death? hahaha... you can just imagine his story continues the way it did in the novel (he becomes a "living ghost" and works his way back up from the bottom again)

hell yeah i've been watching snippets on xhs to tide me over for the time being hahaha

life got in the way and i still haven't found the time to start EP23... 🤠 guess i get to have chu zhao for a few more days

i really like how in a later ep we see how much more confident she is after she got back from her wangcheng victory, entering the court in plainer clothes (the blue outfit) 😌 she didn't need to be all dressed up to enforce her power

you should! chu zhao is even more audacious and i really love how her story unfolds!!!

that would've really derailed the plot LOL plus in the novel a yu actually does learn to be less co-dependent on her (that's why she can even step down as empress in the first place). that kind of obsessive a yu only exists in fics 😂

the patience thing is so funny to me because i see complaints about the 24-ep count being too short and i'm just like ? you guys can't even sit through a few of them before complaining about the slow pacing 😂 i really don't get it

i'm ngl even in the novel chu zhao's relationships with the other 3 were much more stronger/compelling. but idk it also might just be the screenwriter's fault trying to change xie yanlai's character design

yeah looking back i can't believe how many stupid hot searches were tied to this show during its first days of airing 💀

^^^ eternal sky lantern explained it well haha i haven't watched the last ep either but i assume now that after she successfully stabilized the nation she stepped away from court since she no longer had to help a yu rule. so the oath doesn't really count anymore

yeah it gets so much more fun once they start moving out of the capital in EP7

wdym LOL what's there to explain 😆

🤝 (triangles are the best... (joke))

absolutely loved the glory but i am just ??????? with his work on ATC 😬 he excels at family storylines but the cp scenes were just so... inexplicable...

i would loveee to see them in a modern romcom

they saved the best for last HAHA

seriouslyyy death was too easy of a way out for them

don't forget to spoiler your comment haha they're zhaojiu's kids

ohmygod... (falls to my knees) EP22 is truly a five-course chufang meal... we got scenes of him putting on chu zhao's shoe for her, the family of three sharing dinner, then the jealousy at her favoring XYL, pretty much begging her to stay put!!! and!! he couldn't bear to kill her!!!!!! i'll forgive the screenwriter for adapting their relationship this way because they at least captured all the delicious parts of the dynamic

the short ep count really doesn't do justice to the og story (sad)
