i don't get why they had to kill deng yi off when it would've been so much more interesting to see chu zhao break his spirit the way she did in the novel đ damn if that final conversation between them didn't break my heart though... the way deng yi thanked her as a send-off (cries)
rewatching the beginning of EP23... i love dudu's bearing as chu zhao, grand princess/the daughter of a general exacting revenge with her own two hands. there's nothing fragile about her đ (also doesn't hurt that she actually has the height to pull off wearing armour heh)

i feel you so bad lol i've re-read the novel three times now and i still haven't read anything else that quite compares!! i've made my peace with the drama being different from the novel (i really never trusted this production team to deliver a faithful adaptation) + when we get to the second half, i think chen duling's portrayal of chu zhao at least gets to shine much better. so many of the novel's storylines are packed in the later half and while the drama doesn't spend much time on it due to the 24-ep limit, i'm just happy we even get to see it unfold on screen
