Haven't started this coz i plan to binge watch it, but i’m curious given ML’s profession as an architect and the setup seemingly in a historical-looking area, were there many architectural design-related stuff introduced here? Like the spaces, history or how ML design his work? I love when drama with leads that have non business-related job include a bit of knowledge about their expertise.

Its somehow funny to see YT goes from overbearing, personal space invading trespasser to super respectul and propriety aware male lead lol I kinda expect he’ll be princess-carrying NJL up the stairs to the clinic and roughly tear her clothes, like the typical ‘its emergency so no need to be shy’ moments. He carefully guided her up and she insisted doing things on her own shows that he fell for her super hard, and she’s a total independent badass warrior

Almost 30eps in and still not a moment of boredom.. this gotta be a personal record for me since I usually lose interest halfway when live-watch new dramas lol
But question for novel readers, are the things happened to FSG in eps 30 trailer also happened the same way in novel? The amount of story arcs this drama had so far would usually translate to 300++ chapters and the original novel only half that much so I’m guessing some things maybe changed or added in the drama
Though I hated his questionable motives and actions, hats off to the emperor’s actor to deliver such performance and layered character. This is one by far the best emperor-going-downhill moments I’ve watched. And even though it is hard to understand why he’d go this far and treated his son the way he did, it also quite made sense since he’s a founding emperor and he fought hard for this legacy and knew how thorny the future path could be, hence the usual tough love plot (which usually ended up for worst than for the best).

Yeah I even tried to compare the young vs old emperor but somehow they both looked like different person? The prime minister and the marquis both look similar to their younger version just minus the grey hair, so I dunno whats wrong with the emperor 🤔
They should add a new category for drama awards this year: best portrayal of female general and Li Qin should win it. FYX way of thinking, fighting and talking really made it easy to believe that she was once groomed to be an assassin (and probably a seducer too since she’s definitely more forward than FSG) who ended up being an army’s female general. She’s smart, tough, independent and efficient on her moves. But what made her character more amazing is that she knew who earns her trust n loyalty n just cut off those who didnt deserve it n never look back. I bet thats what made FSG respect her so much. Reminded me of the ML from A Journey To Love where he also had mad respect for the FL. They are truly power couple who fought hard n love harder lol

The only ‘bad’ thing about this drama is the overuse of that particular OST every 5mins or so, I think I remember the lyrics more than I knew what the dialogue was 🙄 I wished they’d switch to just BGMs for some scenes that arent necessarily need to be over-dramatized
It seems like the amount of trust both leads have on each other after (probably) a month or so, far exceeded the 10+ years of relationships she had with the other three ‘brothers’. I love the fact that they both stay true to their supposed General traits, knowing that they can take care of themselves but still available to help each other when the time is right. There’s just too much dramas depicting female general but ended up being the ML always babysitting the FL and being overbearing male figure 🤦♀️

I was questioning this too yesterday.. my thought was, even when in private or when he knew she’s not listening, he never called her Xiao Jin Yu, always Lu Zhao even though he knew she is XJY and LZ is dead (soul-wise). So it feels like he’s glad that the woman in front of her is always XJY but he probably already merged her image with LZ, thus always used LZ name. This also kinda eased her image for us viewers coz at least for me, I totally forgot bout their fauxcest and I saw LZ as a separate entity than XJY. I’m also still questioning how they become twins (instead of the usual adopted brother sister) and if the father they mentioned is a biological father of one of them. Maybe the rest of the episode will mention it later.
Glad the writer able to turn the novel’s story into smth original that is very enjoyable to watch.
