The ending wasn't exactly what I hoped for but it still ended on a happy positive note :). This movie was overall heartwarming, it made me cry when all her peers including the teacher helped to pave her way to find Gao Xiang but alas.. Anyhow, the male second lead was so damn cute! Which isn't he listed in the cast? He was so good-looking and I was low key rooting for him haha~
EDIT : the actor that plays the male second lead is called Li Hong Yi (李宏毅), he's born in 26 June 1998. For some reason he really reminds me of Yang Yang.. will be keeping an eye out for him in the future!
This is darker than I expected ahhh, but things are starting to look slightly better! I just hope they would pick up the pace a bit more but then again, this is supposed to span over 20eps him hmmm
if anyone wants to read english translated version of the novel of the movie: https://hui3r.wordpress.com/category/books/you-are-still-here/page/7/
Thanks for sharing the link! Just finished reading the novel - it was an absolute emotional rollercoaster filled with heartwrench LOL. The emotions intensified by tenfold when I envisioned Cheng Zhen as Yi Fan, especially after watching all the teasers/trailers!
This movie didn't have a high production value and some parts of the movie was rather rushed/didn't make sense (since when did Yuki become such good friends with Haru to the point that he had an out-of-body experience to give her some patronising pep talk? LOL idk I found that random and amusing). Nevertheless, it was still a very enjoyable movie. Kou was super duper cute! His visuals and character personality brought world peace hahahah. The only thing that irked me was how easily forgiving Yuki was to (the ever so bitchy insecure inferior complex) Yuka!? Like, WHAT? She literally forgave her after ALL that?! And they became best friends as if nothing ever happened? As if Yuka never sent a bunch of gangsters to intimidate Yuki and beat the hell out of Kou???? Insane logic.
When I first watched Reply 1997, I was so absorbed and amazed by her incredible acting skills, I completely forgot it was her first acting role! Her acting was so naturally convincing and believable~ she is gifted with a wonderful set of all-rounded talents.
The narration was perfect, especially towards the end! There was a slight bittersweet aftertaste when it finished but it was utterly and completely beyond perfect.
