After watching 4 episodes, I still didn't care one bit about a single character in the drama, much less the lead, so I decided to drop it. Only a few scenes had me laughing. There are a few possible reasons as to why I didn't love/enjoy it. 1) It gets better later (but I don't have the patience or resilience to force myself through it since while I like some of the actors, I'm not really a huge fan of any of them. 2) I'm not in the right mood for it. 3) All the positive comments and reviews made me have extremely high expectations. 4) It seems to have more of a slapstick type of comedy ( a la Welcome to Waikiki) which I'm not generally into. 5) It's simply not my cup of tea (shrugs).
I'm a fan of PSJ and I like his character here. BUT... I genuinely feel that the drama lights up and becomes ten times more interesting when Kim Da Mi (as Jo Yi Seo) shows up. I feel like she lights up the screen whenever she's in the scene. My interest was peaked with her scenes at the beginning of the ep 1, then I got really bored by the first 2 ep. and almost dropped the drama until she showed up again at the end of ep. 2. Now I'm fully invested in the drama. For whatever reason, she reminded me of Bae Doona like she gave off her general type of aura. And I love her character. I don't think I've seen a character quite like her in a drama before.
I guess drop all of them? I've watched or attempted to watch all of them (with the exception of Player and Blossom in Heart). Some of them I loved but don't think they are what you're looking for (One More Happy Ending, Bad Guys, The Crowned Clown), and some I really hated or felt that they were meh.
If you're looking for comedy I'd suggest:
- Avengers Social Club (no romance, female-centric) - Prison Playbook (laugh till you cry moments, but also cry your eyes out moments) - Jealousy Incarnate (avoid if you dislike love triangles) - Coffee Prince (a beloved classic, one of my favorite dramas ever, great chemistry between the leads Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye, some angst in the second half) - Oh My Venus (as light and fluffy as cotton candy, some angst towards the end) - Put Your Head on My Shoulder (fluffy and cute, no evil characters) - Le Coup De Foudre (Not really a laugh out loud comedy but heart-warming drama with a great group of characters, no majorly annoying/hateful characters) - Eulachacha Waikiki (slapstick comedy if that's your thing. I personally dropped it since I'm not really into slapstick but it had its really funny moments and it's highly rated)
Hope at least one of these helps with your show hole. I'm having one now and am overcoming it by rewatching Le Coup de Foudre.

I get obsessed when I love a song that plays in the background in a drama (that isn't in the ost) but can't track it. If it's in English I can replay the scene multiple times and strain my ears to catch the lyrics but get completely lost when it's in Korean. So thank you so much for tracking it for me!!! You're an angel :)
Does anyone know the name of the song and artist of the song that plays in the long trailer? It starts around 3:23 and the lyrics are "our days have just begun/ new pages to be drawn/ I remember all the years that came before/ I first saw you at night"
Are you talking about the song where he says he doesn't want to work ?
No it's not that one. It's actually at 26:27 and I edited it in the original post. The lyric starts with "let's go and see the sea, I'm falling into the sound of the waves..."
I like the type of characters Ha Ji Won chooses but I just hate her as an actor. For some reason, her intonation…
I'm glad to know that I'm not alone too XD I baaaarely finished K2H early in my drama watching years and that was mainly because I adored the second couple. I watched maybe 7 or 8 ep of Empress Ki but it was mainly because of my new obsession with Ji Chang Wook after live-watching Healer. But not JCW, nor the interesting story, nor the great female character could carry me to finish a long drama with her as the main character.
Oh wow Ming Lan has Zanilia in it!! How have I not heard of this before?! THANKYOU I have to confess I have been…
I know what you mean. I really doubt any would measure up to this drama. I'm planning to watch Battle by Changsha by the same author since I think most of Ming Lan's strength as a drama comes from how well it is written, but I'm kinda pushing watching it since I'm worried it won't match up to Ming Lan.

It's slow and measured in pace but it's such a great character drama. It's realistic (no CGI and flying fights), it's a smart drama, the relationship between the leads is as solid as steel with almost no unnecessary and overly dramatic misunderstandings (although their romance doesn't start until the second half of the drama), the relationships between many of the characters are so precious (especially Ming Lan and her grandma. And that's just half of it. I really can't say enough great hings about this drama!

For some reason she just gets on my nerves in all the dramas I've seen her in and the way she speaks always stand out to me in a bad way but maybe that's not the only reason. In terms of extra, NO ONE is as extra in crying and screaming and pretty much everything like Hwang Jung Eum (another one I dislike) xD Everyone pales in comparison to her xD
