Wow, I can’t believe it’s finished so soon. Their chemistry was perfect in this and it made me feel like I was watching a real couple on screen most of the time. I hope the both of them get casted in another drama together after this one, I’m not over it yet.

While I agree with you about many of the other male leads profession. In Gu Wei' case , the clues given in the…
Ah, I feel like I wasn’t clear enough in my comment but what I was referring to was Gu Wei’s personality as a “doctor.” Your point makes sense for sure. He’s busy, and I get that he was raised in that type of environment, but I don’t think that constitutes all the little mannerisms he has. The being clean part makes sense, going to a hotpot place and explaining all the organs to your date, and confessing that your heart rate is at 110 bpm despite being healthy just…doesn’t seem that realistic to me? My parents and most of my family are in the medical field and they talk about work from time to time, but it’s not to this extent where they would relate everything back to that.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Gu Wei (and I mean it in a “men are forever ruined for me” kind of way), but I’m tired of cdramas over exaggerating the ML’s profession. No person is that obsessed with their job, even if they’re passionate about it. I don’t know why cdramas always make ML’s geniuses in their profession and act like they don’t/didn’t have a life outside of that profession until the FL comes in. Aside from Gu Wei, I’ve seen this trope played out with Gu Weiyi (PYHOMS), Zhang Si Nian (Perfect and Casual), Wen Shao Qing (My Little Happiness) etc. etc. There are times where it isn’t over done, and I appreciate that, but it just seems like the norm for most dramas.

I think one of the things that the drama didn’t highlight so much as compared to the novel is that Gu Wei fell in love with LZX after seeing how she took care of her dad. I still see some people confused at how/why he started liking her, but he did point out in an earlier episode that her future boyfriend would be lucky to have her cause she’s so caring towards the people she loves.

It’s pretty obvious that Gu Wei’s been taught to strive for perfection from an early age, both in his personal and professional life. It makes sense why he would want someone different from that, someone who wouldn’t expect him to be perfect and let him show his flaws. Gao Xi and his parents already control his life enough, being with LZX let’s him be unrestrained in his desires and allows him to fully express himself.

Ep 13 (DVD version) thoughts: Grrrrrr Sansan. She thinks every guy will take her taunting as a challenge to fight…
You summarized basically everything I was thinking. I don't think the people around Gu Wei understand that he's an actual /adult/ and is considering a relationship with LZX with marriage in mind. He's obviously been trying very hard to make himself more favorable to her by always going out of his way and adjusting to her needs, and Sansan's constant reminder that he's 1) older than LZX 2) too busy for a relationship and 3) doesn't share the same interests as her are a huge blow to his self-esteem. Without the sudden interruption of the second CP and Shao Jiang, I think Gu Wei and LZX would've already been together at this point.

Even without the whole taking someone else's private health information and it being literally illegal, Shao Jiang has no right to be speaking on behalf of the Lin's when he's just a family friend. He's coming off extremely pretentious and bossy.

Gao Xi was already annoying but Shao Jiang took her down a notch cause I find him to be the most annoying SML I've watched. It's already burdensome when someone keeps pursuing you after you've told them you like someone else, but it's another thing altogether for that person not to back down and keep pushing their feelings onto you just cause they expect you to come around.

Gao Xi does the same with Gu Wei but she was never this level of pushy with it. Shao Jiang literally just came back after years of being abroad and expected everything/everyone to be the same, which is what he warrants as his right to be nosy in the Lin family and LZX's life.
Ugh, maybe I'm projecting a bit too much on this character but I really hate men like this irl :/

I'm loving the way Gu Wei's apartment already looks like their marital home cause he had Lin Zhi Xiao buy the furniture with him. Like they already look like a married couple but he hasn't even confessed to her yet 😭

I love the littlest detail in here like how Gu Wei smiles everytime he sees Lin Zhi Xiao is so sweet! ❤️
And the way he stares at her with pure love in his eyes, LZX you are one lucky girl.

I think my favorite thing about this drama so far is the characterization. All the characters feel like real people…
LZX and Gu Wei's relationship is the ideal relationship I'd want to be in if I had a s/o. Other dramas tend to put leads in situations that develop their relationship or throw other plot points that force the two leads together, but in this case, Gu Wei and Lin Zhi Xiao develop their relationship after gaining a mutual understanding of one another. Rather than it feeling like there's several things happening to get them together, it feels like they're slowly gravitating towards that themselves.

LZX is always bickering with her dad but when her dad goes missing she gets worried and scared for him. The whole scene where she yelled at him at the station and then cried outside the KFC after their exchange was so touching to me. Her feeling angry and worried cause she loves him, and then Teacher Lin wanting to go back home to take her list of things she wanted to do with her dad. The whole time he was scared he might pass away but the first thing he thought to do was fulfill his daughter's wishes with him :(
It just seemed like a very dad thing to do to me

One thing I am really enjoying about this drama is that they both have their own lives and their own struggles…
I agree!! Not just with the two leads, but I like that all the relationships in the story feel so real and genuine. LZX and her relationship with her family seems natural, and even the developing relationship between LZX and Gu Wei is organic. They're just two people with mutual respect and understanding for the other, plus the way they support each other is so healthy. I hope this becomes a trend for other modern cdramas to make their characters more realistic like this and have mature relationships.

Any idea in which ep Dr. Gu going to confess ?
With how fast things are moving in the plot, I'm guessing possibly ep. 10 or somewhere after that.

Yeah, I agree. It seems more natural for them to start a relationship if they didn’t first meet as doctor-patient.

I just reread the confrontation part and my original assumption was correct, Gao Xi and LZX talked to each other but LZX put her in her place LOL
but you're right she never apologized for trying to come in between them.

That's what I was hoping they wouldn't do in this drama but it looks like they need to create some kind of conflict, hence Gu Wei's ex and LZX's parents. I noticed they have LZX's childhood crush in the cast list too so I feel like they'll add him into the mix lol

Ah, yeah I do remember this. I felt like the part with LZX getting jealous was really short thought cause they resolved it so fast in the novel lol
Doesn't Gao Xi also apologize to LZX later or something and they become friends? I just remember Gu Wei and LZX ended up getting engaged because of all this.

This might be too soon considering we just got the first episode but I can already see some big differences from…
The whole thing with LZX and Gu Wei meeting at the bar never happened in the novel, the first time they met was at the hospital, and it wasn't under any weird circumstances. They first met at the hospital after Teacher Lin gets checked in to the hospital and LZX starts liking Dr. Gu from the start because of his kind eyes (which is sorta the same in the drama?).

LZX was never a cellist in the original too. She played the violin but she wasn't studying to be a violinist either, she majored in geology from what I remember lol
I also don't think Teacher Lin was this strict in the novel. He seemed really passive actually, and was always babied by LZX and her mom. Actually, LZX's mom was more against their relationship than the dad was cause she thought doctor's wouldn't have enough time to spend on a relationship. (Also why they kept their relationship a secret for awhile.)

Gu Xiao and Gao Xi look like they'll play bigger roles in this drama version too. Gu Xiao was more of an annoyance than anything in the novel cause he only showed up a few times. Also, it looks like they plan on making Gu Xiao and San San get together in this which never happens. San San ends up with someone else completely (Emperor Pei lmao), who happens to be a far away relative of Gu Wei's.

For Gao Xi, she's Gu Wei's ex who I think went to study abroad and then came back a few years later when Gu Wei and LZX were already in a steady relationship. She wanted to get back together with him but he just kept treating her all civil until LZX lay it straight for her lol I think it was also because of her that Gu Wei decided they get engaged to make things more official.

I actually liked that they changed things in this adaptation cause the flow of the story in the novel was kinda weird. Anyway, I'm looking forward to how everything will unfold as this continues to air.
