I came back here because I missed this drama so much. I literally love everything about this series. Yes, the issue of Xiaoyao's partner caused a lot of debate among people, but I really enjoyed watching this series. When you think of it not as a love story but as the story of two orphaned cousins, and you don't focus too much on the couples, everything becomes perfect. Zhang Wanyi's incredible acting and Yang Zi's amazing performance went so well together that they made me enjoy the series from start to finish. The rest of the cast also really enhanced the drama. Although Xiaoyao's choice was very controversial, everything went in line with the logic of the story. That's why I found every character's choice and ending logical, and thus, the ending of the series was satisfying for me. Each character ended up with the consequences of their own choices. I also want to say that the series had many impactful scenes. For example, the moment Xiaoyao reunited with her father in the first season was very moving for me. I can't help but praise Yang Zi's performance; it’s still one of the scenes I watch repeatedly. Although the second season is labeled as 'bad' on platforms like TikTok due to everything coming to an end and some people being dissatisfied, I never agree with this. The second season actually had more peak scenes than the first. The illusion scene, in particular, was one of the best things I watched this year. Again and again, I want to say that I love everything about this series. The story was very touching for me....

But seriously, what's wrong with the people editing this drama? In the scene where Ji Yang's inner demon is sealed, I was expecting an epic battle scene with Ji Yang, the Fox, and the Demon, but they just said the Demon was sealed without any fight. In the last scene, Ji Yang and Nan Yan's battle was going really well, and then suddenly the words '3 years later' appeared on the screen. What was that???
Before starting this series, I really thought it would be terrible because of the reviews, but it was literally an average fantasy Chinese drama. It's not that bad, but it's not that good either. It's watchable for those who have some free time.
Great cast, excellent acting, wonderful music... The only issue is that after a while, I couldn't empathize with any of the characters... In the first season, I tried to justify each character's actions to some extent, but I couldn't do that this season. Although each character started as a pitiful one with a sad past, as the series progressed, a bit of selfishness emerged in all of them. So, in my mind, I often couldn't justify any of them. All the characters started acting as if there was only one ending written for them. They seemed to have accepted something and found the effort to change things unnecessary.
Cang Xuan was selfish, overly obsessed with power. He didn't hesitate to use even those closest to him for power. Xiaoyao was selfish, at one point acting as if she was the only one suffering. Xiangliu was selfish because he was never fair to himself. His selfishness was only towards himself. Tushan Jing was selfish because, despite not having physical strength, he didn't even bother to use the other powers he had.
Each character drew their own fate. Cang Xuan sacrificed Xiaoyao for power. Xiangliu always kept his feelings to himself. Xiangliu always understood Xiaoyao, but Xiaoyao never understood Xiangliu. Jing, despite being portrayed as very wealthy and intelligent, never used any of his potential and remained like a loser. There was one thing, though. Jing openly showed his feelings independently of the others. This affected Xiaoyao. In the end, Jing was able to be with Xiaoyao because he was the only character who was open about his feelings.
Everyone chose their own path. I think these endings are good for them because they didn't take a step back from the paths they chose. Xiangliu was smiling when he died. Jing and Xiaoyao got married as they wanted. Cang Xuan is now the ruler of the world. A'nian married her beloved brother. But just Fenglong died very pathetically.
I really enjoyed watching it, I was truly amazed by Yang Zi's crying scenes! I realized that Zhang Wanyi was a very fitting choice for the character of Cang Xuan. I would love to see Yang Zi and Zhang Wanyi in a more romantic series together. When I watched the behind-the-scenes, I found Yang Zi and Zhang Wanyi very cute together.
