Yeah, it happened with My First First Love as well
Yeah, that was really annoying too. It'll help if they were gonna give a heads up that they're breaking it into seasons so we can choose to wait and binge watch later on.
Wanted to watch because of IU but it took me awhile to get started because of my fear of ghosts (thank goodness for the humour here and there)... And I enjoyed this drama. Although, with the way Man Wol's past was unraveled, I can't help to think of how similar it is to Goblin.
Regardless, the settings and IU's costumes are really pretty and I really love the characters here. Each had their own story, which adds to the beauty of the drama (asides from Man Wol's).
The only thing I didn't like was the super brief reunion of Man Wol's and Go Chung Myung (the inn's first guest). I was preparing myself for the super touching and tear-jerking scene... But it never came because it was too brief. And I wanted to see more of Man Wol and Chan Sung scenes as a couple.
It started off as promising, refreshing even, as the drama tried to portray gender equality in a Sageuk drama. But I can't say I really enjoyed this. It just got a bit blend from the middle portion.
I have nothing against Cha Eun Woo, really. I quite enjoyed watching him in My ID is Gangnam Beauty, but in this drama, I feel that there is a lot of room for improvement in his acting. Also, he doesn't seem to have much chemistry with Shin Se Kyung. Rather, I find SSK to be more compatible with Lee Ji Hoon and it's not because of SML syndrome. The ending was also too brief, just enough to let us know what lives the characters are having.
Still, SSK portrayed her character well. I like how Hae Ryung doesn't get pressurized by society to get married and her persistence in believing and doing what she wants. Park Ki Woong too, did a good job here.
I really like happy endings, but that isn't why I wasn't pleased with the ending. Like a few others, the title itself (The Third Charm) gave me the impression that things will only work after the third time, a.k.a. a happy ending. So that's one disappointment.
What really got to me though, was the pacing and development of the drama.
1. The drama started off really, really well. All's fine and dandy. But... The second half seems like a melo drama, which is another genre on its own. I get it if this was one of those super long series whereby a lot of things happened and it becomes really sad, but it's not. It's only 16 episodes, so the pacing and transition between scenes is really messed up.
2. Some parts are too draggy. I get it that Jun Yeong had to find himself after their 2nd break up but... It was nice seeing him coming out of his shelf as he travels, but it got boring as that part was too long.
3. Second half of the drama explains almost everything in flashbacks, especially for Yeong Jae's life. So much so that I didn't think Yeong Jae was a main character anymore. It was mostly about Jun Yeong. But the main plot of this whole drama is their love story.
I watched this because of Seo Kang Joon, after completing Are You Human? so this is a real disappointment for me.
The first few episodes were rather dry, but it gets better after that. The plot was good, and Healer's character and job was very fascinating, with his savvy technologies and parkour.
I really love Ji Chang Wook here, especially his love scenes with Park Min Young. Although he's the cool and mysterious Healer, he's like an adorable, lost puppy whenever she's around. I like how both of their characters take turns to support one another during different circumstances, because unlike other dramas, it isn't always the ML who does all the saving and comforting. However, I can't say I like PMY's character much here, at least for the first half. Maybe it's because of her hair cut..? Still, I like them as a couple. JCW has more chemistry with PMY than his FL in Suspicious Partner.
Anyway, I thought everything was great except how the ending might have been a little brief. There wasn't really a reunion between Chae Yeong Sin and her mum, and Kim Moon Ho's relationship with the others.
Really wish Netflix can stop leaving us hanging with the wait for the next season for K dramas. It's annoying. I didn't even know that this wouldn't be the end.
It's also weird that we rarely see Eun Som and... The wait for all three (Eun Som, Tanya and Saya) to meet is taking way too long. My patience is slowly wearing thin..
This serie is better than reply 1988?Cuz I love 1988 but I doubt about starting this drama
I can't really say if its better because although they're both in the Reply series, I feel like the approach for 1997 and 1988 is different. I was doubtful at first too but I enjoyed it once I started. So maybe you can give it a try as well? :)
i know. it just abruptly stopped. leaves you hanging. im guessing there'll be a sequel?
Ikr. This is happening with all the K Dramas that are released with Netflix. It's really annoying, them splitting ONE season into seasonS, and always leaving us hanging. This takes away one of the joys of watching K Drama, in my opinion.
The beginning was slow and didn't have much of a plot. However, things started to pick up in the second half. I really like Hwang Sun Oh, because he's like an adorable yet sad puppy in front of Kim Jojo.
My only complain now is... Why is Netflix splitting up K Dramas into seasons when it's only 16 episodes? No offense, but them making K Drama release like those of U.S.'s dramas is getting on my nerves. I have to rewatch the previous "season" episode because I can't remember the detials and this sucks. Netflix is gradually making watching K Dramas a chore tbh :/
I'm very annoyed with Sa Rang, Eun Ho's supposedly "best friend". Her character was barely there when Eun Ho went through those terrible things and only Tae Woon stood by her side. And it's fine, really.
But in the recent episodes, she comes squeezing in, acting like the victim (because of pride, I assume, she doesn't tell anyone about her mum's issue) and everyone's saying how "thoughtful" of a person she is and that she has a reason for being so bratty. I'm sorry, but if memory serves me right, she was the one blurting out everything "surprising" that Eun Ho has told her. How can such a person be thoughtful? Mature, yes because of her family's financial circumstances but not thoughtful.
This is just really getting on my nerves. I tried to overlook it but they made it so bad in this episode. Also, I find certain character developments hard to follow because they seem like different people now, as compared to the first few episodes. Like Dae Hwi and Nam Joo's relationship - it was portrayed and hinted as something superficial, but turns out they really liked each other? Bo Ra who suddenly became more outspoken, then there's a flashback to how she was before the incident with Hee Chan and surprise, she used to be buds with Young Gun.
The plot isn't bad. But the flow of things and the character development is just too abrupt. The only thing that made me continue watching was Tae Woon and Eun Ho's relationship., and thank goodness that this took up most of the airing time.
Although I started watching because of Lee Joon Gi, this drama is still okay overall. However... My main dissatisfaction comes from the female lead Jo Yang Seon, played by Lee Yoo Bi.
I didn't think she was compatible as LJG's love interest but it was still okay for the first few episodes. Though it got increasingly difficult to watch her scenes as her acting is not up to par, especially with crying scenes. To make it worse, she has so many of those and I cringed every time it happens. The only time I thought she was okay was when she got made up to be sent to the palace as a maiden (she shed a few tears without me cringing).
Sadly, it doesn't stop there. In the latter half of the series, she became an annoying character whose only role seems to only be making unnecessary trouble for LJG. It's okay if it happens once, twice or even thrice, but for it to keep happening makes her character a real nuisance... That I start questioning her intellect. For someone who used to be the prince's childhood friend, I was disappointed.
I don't have anything against this actress, maybe she just doesn't suit the role in my opinion. But her character's development is all on the scrip writer.
I pretty much enjoyed this drama, but it was rather draggy in the middle portion. However, I really love the last few episodes. The revelations at the end were so good, it made me forgot about the draggy and bad parts (i.e. some scenes and characters were rather abrupt).
Though I like the main pairing, I ended up liking the Rong Qi & Rong Le pairing more eventually. Rong Qi's just... hard not to love. His story and death made me cry. Thus, while I understand how his death fits into the plot, I'm unsure about the necessity of Fu Chou & Heng Xiang's deaths. Even the emperor's death at the end was rather abrupt...
Thats what I am most disappointed.I thought Xiao Tai and Qing Yu would be a good couple, but suddenly after three…
Yeah, I agree with you. Wait till you watch the later episodes... This show had potential but it kinda went down the drain after the "after three years" period.
Though not usually a fan of tragedies, I really love this one. Lee Yeok and Chae Kyung's love story is too sweet to dislike, no matter how sad it ended up to be. I cried at the end when the pair met for the last time, and when the mad king finally got his late father's approval.
The leads did a great job portraying their respective characters, with Yeon Woo Jin's ability to express so much with his eyes and Lee Dong Gun's mad yet lonely king. I also like Park Min Young better here, rather than her roles in Secretary Kim and Her Private Life.
I just really miss their love story and hopes it continues for them in another time.
Having one annoying female in the show is hard enough, but two? Really? Both Ming He and Xiao Tai are annoying my badly an I don't know if I can continue watching.
Ming He's character doesn't make sense to me from the start. Sure she's jealous, but she's equally nuts. Of course Qing Lan will hold Qing Mi dearer to him; they've known each other over ten years while she only knew him for several weeks/months. Seriously?
The initial part of the drama, it was portrayed that Xiao Tai ans Qing Yu had mutual interest in each other. However, after the 3 years, she suddenly say she likes Yi Qing since young? Like seriously? And she starts acting like Ming He #2 AND continues acting like a brat. *rolls eyes*
I really enjoyed this drama. Never have I thought a guy would be so accepting of a girl's fangirling, but Ryan did it. Also, Kim Jae Wook and Park Min Young have such good chemistry. Gonna miss this couple.
Regardless, the settings and IU's costumes are really pretty and I really love the characters here. Each had their own story, which adds to the beauty of the drama (asides from Man Wol's).
