Ep30 Fantastic. The death of Prince CX!!!!!!! The way he saw the spirit of Wei QiLin shove CY's blade deeply in. A real duel. And that is wuxia boys and girls.
ep30 CY to ZX at the battle of Lucheng: I am not hiding behind anyone. You take your pick!
They fight together but separately. Where are all the whiners about the Marquis not being glorious enough?
Or maybe, I am starting to think, the problem is that killing isnt glorified enough some viewers. While this isnt an anti-war film, it is definitely a pro-peace show. The music and battle scenes, while not startling if you watch movies which tend to detail the messiness and depressing nature of battle realistically, may not be martial enough for people whose entertainment includes more killing.
ep30 fighting the battle on a road confined by natural obstacles? Is this to give the Marquis' numerically smaller force the advantage? Oh for a map! Where are all the forces arrayed?
So much disappointment in today’s episode……. Director only focus on fl …….cant he give a decent fight…
We finally get the rare good battle scenes for an FL. Why is it a problem that the ML only shines in love so far? There are lots of other shows where the reverse is true, or some other formula is used. And Zhang LingHe is not a wuxia star! But right now ChangYu is UNIQUE. Why get all curdled about it?
ep29 Anybody else who got totally confused by the Prince CX's camp being in LUOCHENG, and General He being quartered in LUCHENG? Reading subtitles is a hard life.
If an imaginary map could be drawn up those who are visually inclined might be happier. Especially the secret path behind Mount Heng.
As a novel reader.. I kind of understand. This drama is actually female centric, the plot actually revolves around…
Once you settle into the idea that ChangYu is the emotional one who reacts immediately and openly reflec ts her thoughts, while ZX is the closed off one -- when he locates his emotional self he turns out to be a very steady person emotionally. The director successfully carried TXW into exactly the right space. The growth of the Marquis seems backwards bec of the way the drama starts when he is so weak. His fellow soldiers talk about what a terror he was before, but that is always offstage. Even when he gets back to Marquis'ing, he is already a changed man. ZLH does not have powerful emoting skills, so the director is using that to create a more subtle arc for the Marquis than he has in the book. A total green flag...almost.
But I think what I am trying to say is that the Marquis character so far is very strong emotionally, once he and ChangYu clear up the lying. And that is attractive and may get more so today! or tomorrow?
ep29 Fighting in the falling petals of spring on He JingYuans front porch... the remembered bout in snow between Wei QiLin and He JingYuan -- ChangYu may have your spirit sir, and her mother's beauty, but TXW does definitely not have your 'builfd' (bonedensity and weight and height?)! Ficional reality vs, the needs of a blockbuster.
After today I definitely have a total crush on QiMin. But you know, people going crazy from love and poor treatment are always solidly in the classic and operatic tradition.
It is time to create a way to talk about the novel, the leaks of off-takes and deliberately misleading shots by the team, the creation of AIs all over social media; we could think about them ALL AS ONE PHENOMENUM, since we really cant differentiate between them all except for the novel's actual existence in chinese, very long chinese. They all constitute extra chapters/fan fiction/alternate stories. A creative but alternate show. NOT the one we are actually watching.
I of course am an old-fashioned advocate for watching the whole show before passing judgement, but at least lets comment on the actual show. Rumors that QiMin tries to kill his own son, untrue. QianAQian poisons him, untrue. But I sort of resent having to think about that ahead of time.
It might make it easier also to understand who in the discussions is just looking for clicks and who is actually watching the show.
Fantastic.

CY to XZ/JH: "you have read too many storybooks. Did you think I would be moved to tears!"
Well, I was.
What a complex way to tell a story, with a magical armature but a clever and modern set of commwnting characters...

QianQian: As if I would sit there and wait to die!
that's my modern girl.
