Jang Yoon Ju was so beautiful and bad. Somehow neither effect detracted from the other. Great great job on a seriously one-dimensional character, she gave her portrayal volume and strength and never let the craziness, when it regularly blew up, overwhelm the other actors, or the scene's structure. Gorgeous.
A kdrama feels incomplete without a cute kid. JuWon's little actor did a decent job. His character's main job/effect was to efficiently create a more attractive, responsible and kinder character for DongMin .
Hmm.. so Chairman came back and gave Yeong Ran full power. Let's see how it helps in the final episode. Also,…
I think we will get some of the old collapsing of cinematic time and somebody will interfere with Ga Seong just before she kills her stepdad..the friend has come back from her errands, the police can be called, Yeong Ran may save the day...This is definitely not a tragic show...in the end.
As for the romance - it is entirely necessary. The village life made the Bodyguard into a human being.... the…
I agree. Although the scenography and cinematography point in the opposite direction from realism, it doesnt mean that character arcs dont exist. The village is supposed to be a dream place, completely the opposite of this dark version of Seoul. Altho it is suposed to be remote, it actually feels most of the time as if it is on the opposite side of the door from the crazy fortress-house of the Chairman.
Dont get some of the comments ... binged 11 eps past week and enjoying this series That butler is annoying as…
I have watched this show on air and enjoyed it a lot.
Happy to hear that, on a binge, the humor and surrealism which has not been obvious to many of the weekly viewers here, comes out more clearly.
Honestly, in context, complaining about 'realism' disguised as criticisms of the 'plot' makes it sound like these people havent actually watched a lot of kdrama/films.
This whole show gave me the 'cool' vibes of the 60's series 'The Prisoner' with Patrick Mcgoohan. Also some of the weirdness of 'Fractured Fairytales'.
I know that some people are upset that Tae Poong didn't stand up for Mi Seon but we need to take into consideration…
I was amazed that MS said exactly that to TP at one point, I think it was before they left for bangkok. Women in kdrama have to express such complicated things with glances, they rarely get scripts which allow them to simply say what needs to be said. She was very calm and diplomatic too, the character wasnt written in as impulsive. So often a 'strong' women has no self-control in kdrama scripts. Nice writing. Everything is easy and natural, like yall are saying, but its radical nevertheless. So cool.
mid-ep 8 -- this is so interesting (trip to thailand). I had never thought about there being a network of overseas Korean traders, the same way that there have always been overseas Chinese...
I am not enjoying this 1 ep a night for the finale. It seems that these last four episodes were designed to be seen together all at once. Oh well, I will look forward to the binge-rewatch.
This is an extremely gorgeous series! NMW’s presence as a café owner is already a huge blessing for the show,…
So glad you pointed out Noh Min Woo's presence! Then I dont have to feel weird in saying that the fact that both Im Chul Soo and NMW are in this show is a sign from the universe that this will be great.
OMg it's almost here! It's been so long since Jae Wook has graced our screens because I refused to watch whatever…
god yes. DH was a horrorshow, figuratively and literally. LJW did a good job, (you could sayeven a wildly overthetop outrageously operatic job) but even he couldnt swim against all that massive pompous indigestible meaningless dreck.
he's never acted in a modern romcom, so people aren't even recognizing him in the romcom poster lol
8 Modern dramas: Memories of the Alhambra, Search:WWW, Ex.U, When the weather is fine, DDSSLLS, Move to heaven, Death's game and the Impossible Heir. 2 Sageuk/fantasy dramas (both Netflix): Alchemy of Souls, Dear Hongrang. This is his 3rd Netflix drama, and 9th modern drama. He is a little like Namgoong Min, very versatile so people forget about him in between big hits.

Does it mean that more kcontent will be locked up out of reach for netflix/viki subscribers? Right now TVING licenses to viki on occasion.
