a fun watch

Exciting and fun to watch, excellent binge. 2023, 16 eps x 1hr10mins ea = 18 hrs40mins watchtime. A criminal-on-criminal revenge story with an excellent plot , good acting and good dialogue, but light on big action scenes and chemistry between the leads. It is best seen as a heist/con show, not a romance. An interesting take on the nature-vs-nurture debate. A lot of violent bullying may be too offensive for some viewers; for a kdrama it is relatively mild.

Chun Woo Hee (soon to be seen in My Youth) really shines and her struggles with what her past has made her are really finely done. Kim Dong Wook is an acquired taste, consistent across all his roles but somehow differently complex in each one.
A great gang of young con artists, as well as Yoon Park, Park So Jin and a fun soundtrack.

This show has legs as a rewatch because it is easy on the eyes and the heart. Director, Lee So Hyun, Writer, Han Woo Joo. A well-done CJEntertainment production. I happily enjoyed the rotational camera shots (conversations on the diagonal! sleeping on the wall!), and looking back I realize that the cinematography created a discreet but definite noir atmosphere, shadowy and angled. The dialogue delivery was also a little b-genre-ish, low-voiced , portentious with lots of reaction time. Very, very , very enjoyable for the cinephiles amongst us...
