A very light show but it has that small perfection that deserves a review. We dont need to get knocked out of our socks by a masterpiece every week. There are other shows which fill your evenings with the pleasures of humility and consistency.
The beautiful Zhu Li Lan plays a street girl, Shen Tiaotiao, with a hidden past and insanely good luck. The actress has a perfect balance in tone, never too heavy nor too light, excellent in movement, with an expressive face. She was only 24 when this was shot, and her ML was only 17.
Huang Tian Ci is absolutely uncanny -- at the cusp of adulthood himself, he could shift clearly and quickly from the ten-year old mental age of the stricken heir, Lin QingLan, to the 20ish scholar and swordsman ML in his phases of lucid recovery. I look forward to watching as many of the supporting roles he has done as I can. May he do another romantic lead soon.
A pretty show with a clear script, easily recognizable characters and some tragic loft to its stories of desire, entitlement and betrayal. But above all, the ML and FL fall in love very satisfactorily, forever and ever. Really lovely ballads.
