The movie was fine. I wouldn't rewatch it. I feel like I was to blame for what happened to Jun's mom. I really didn't want a romantic a relationship to form in this movie. I love platonic relationships which would have been so fitting but I did not want my wish granted that way damn. They really wanted Jun's mom to suffer and that she did and then some. I had to rewatch the club scene where Mr. Long was got/bested after seeing the scene where Mr. Long beat/killed every single one of those guys in the end. It was a surprise to see compared to the beginning. I loved how comfortable the town/village people were. They were so nice and I loved seeing how Jun helped Mr. Long as soon as he seen him; their growing father-son relationship was nice to see. The ending did seem random. It was too coincidental that they would have seen him in the cafe BUT I did like how they were crossing the street. This is a solid 7.
I just finished it and idk how I feeeeeel. Mobu is getting the triangle AND the age gap tropes. Let him live. HE PRETENDED TO BE A HORSE TO MISS A FLAG. But it truly is No BL, No Life.
I am only writing here cause of a moment in episode 4 has me dead af. Mobu always acts a certain way to avoid BL moments but when he started to do horse noises WITH THE GALLOPING NOISES. I cannot contain just how much I love this show and how much I appreciate Ki Reh for translating (where they've done an immaculate job at translating).
I watched this the year it came out and only watched it once. I still remember a lot of the movie. I finally came here to give it a rating. This movie could has been a 10 for me (and I personally think it should have won an Oscar), BUT the ending of the movie always rubbed me the wrong way like it didn't make sense. I give it a rating of 8.5 cause of the ending that was added for the male's gaze.
This was disappointing. Such a good premise but the dialogue, humor, and where the movie was heading made this hard to finish. It was predictable and not in a good way (I usually like spoilers and when I guess things right).
Recently rewatched this movie after watching it back in 2020 and it is still such a great movie. I have seen several movies with Park Sung Woong and he is phenomenal with all that he does. Just seeing this Korean male actor of his caliber that has performed some gangster-ish villain roles doing this movie really well, along with those kissing scenes was refreshing. I feel like many actors from Korean BL shows/movies need to watch this since some seem to be blase or afraid of embracing their respected roles which shows in their acting. Personally, I do feel like that is what is holding them back since they seem uncomfortable (again this is just my opinion). My standards are high for shows and movies that focus on mlm relationships which is why I do not watch most Korean BL shows/movies.
The storyline focuses on the main character's (Okita Makoto) progression of basic human acceptance and becoming more empathetic. Many characters aid him in this journey and one character is a gay man with a boyfriend. Their dynamic does help Makoto's development and their relationship is important since it poses several hurdles within the story. Some could view this as having a "bl side plot" because of these characters but I would disagree since the majority of the story/plot is not about the couple's romance. The LGBTQIA+ tag is very fitting for this series. Regardless, this needs to be watched by all. It is lovely and heartwarming.
This was such a good show. When a show can make you feel all types of emotions and then drastically change your opinions on characters, it is fucking good. I was annoyed/frustrated, sad (would tear up a bit), relieved, excited, shocked, and pleased with certain outcomes. I think episode 2 and 10 have to be my favorite episodes but the ending of episode 11 was just so good. Almost everyone acted so well (I am so sorry to Madoka's actor). Those asking where to watch this show translated will have to apply to the drama-otaku site which have occasional open applications. I had to wait over a month since I missed an open application date. If you do get accepted, don't be rude and leak the media you find there that is only supposed to be found through the site.
I gave this an 8 since it did made me think of how people just die and leave those to mourn which made me cry. Some events in the movie were just so abrupt that I feel like this book could have been adapted better. In my opinion, Miyazawa didn't really show much acting range in this movie and Ryohei did a much better job acting. I loved Miyazawa in His, though.
Just watched this on Gagaoolala. This was an interesting one. There were more characters that I disliked more than I liked but their behaviors made them more human/realistic. Loved Naoya the whole way through, they were such an endearing character. I did grow to like Katsuhiro and Fujikara midway, and the relationship of all three growing closer was nice to see. I was kind of expecting to see a child at the end but I am pleased with that ending.
I felt heartache all throughout and then reprieve. It was confusing at times but it made sense more than halfway through. Really, a lovely movie with great acting.
I watched this movie years ago. I remember looking up sad movies and had "Blue Valentine" recommended which I did not like at all (did not care for the plot of characters and did not find it sad). This movie was supposed to be similar to it and I did watch it. I did not cry with either of these movies, but Happy Together let me go down a rabbit whole about Leslie Cheung's life. I did cry when I found out he died by suicide. I have to appreciate a movie like this regardless. The acting was astounding but I did not care for the plot/conflict or the dialogue.
A 2 hour movie. I felt the first 50 minutes but the remainder of the movie went so quick. A movie that can make…
Also, can someone explain to me why we are to interpret that they are dead? I was kind of shocked to see that people in the comments were saying they were dead. Maybe I am missing something but the way I interpreted is that they are alive post storm? After I watched the movie, I did go on wikipedia plot for the movie where it mentioned that they emerged from the bottom of the railcar. If all else, maybe I did not want to believe that the director/screenplay writer was going to do a tired and cheap trope. Also, I want justice for the teacher. I felt so bad for him. He was actually genuine and did not even feel any animosity towards Minato for kind of causing his life to spiral.
A 2 hour movie. I felt the first 50 minutes but the remainder of the movie went so quick. A movie that can make you feel anger, frustration, annoyance, shock, and sadness is always good. Just a roller coaster of emotions and I do not think it should be overlooked or dismissed by whatever anyone here is saying. The acting was great and I always love media where it makes you change your own perception of a character throughout. IF ANYONE HAS A LINK TO THE DIRECTOR'S CUT, PLEASE SHARE.
