yes i think what makes this the best version is the fact that the ML is waaaayyy more human with emotions and can really feel his love/turmoil for her from early on, unlike in the other adaptations where he is just unnecessarily BLAND! shows that big budgets aren't what make a story great!!!!

i definitely fast forwarded all the namkang and dan scenes hahaha. Dan was a great character/actor but the scenes were so boring and no chemistry at all!!!

he is 10000000% Kwak Dong-yeon's CLONE. anyone else see this???? i think they were separated at birth, even their acting expressions are the same hahahaha. both great though <3

I think Ma Wang is great!!!! He somehow balances comedy with still being mysteriously attractive and dark. I think he’s great!

The first episodes were great, then I started to doubt it between 3-5 but now it just totally back on the rise and getting better every weekend!!!!! thank heavens cos Seung Gi is amazing in every way in this!!!!

thats awful!! sadly a bad script and character will still make get people angry at him despite how good of an actor he is :( such a shame

oh no the comments are so so bad but i love Shi Won usually how could he possibly be this bad?!!?! will probably watch after its finished airing and give it a chance for its ratings to get better.... :(

But I mean besides the confusion (in my spoiler comment below) i don't think this drama was as bad as everyone is saying in the comments. I agree that the chemistry lacked at times but the story and cinematography were great and there were some great funny/tear jerking scenes throughout. it was a bit slow paced and I had to pause at times to think 'wtf is meant to be happening' but it was still a pleasant romcom to watch compared to some complete shit that came out this year!! i recommend if you want something non-mind stressing and conveniently have time to spare :)

also he will never get old but she will age and then die and then he goes back to the water realm?? (the same thing confused me in Goblin... like ok it all sounds great in the end but 50 years from now youll all be in a weird situation....)

I don't get why the deities couldn't get the father out the water but So Ah could? Like is there a reason to that - they didn't really explain the ending very well. why did he have to give her protection to get him out the river when he could of just wished him out the water idk it was kinda confusing/not thought through????

the music in this was seriously good -- really felt like a collage drama loved it!

wah... park bo young's acting in this is superb. the personality switches are so so well done and even till the last few episodes she still portrays herself as bong sun without sun ae but with her own personal character development. INSANE! love love loved this <3 <3 <3

ONLY disappointment was I wish they actually ended it with sam dong and hye mi being able to be together, its quite depressing that he succeeded but is still lonely and suffering; just a 10 second reunion after all that time would have been way better :'(

ok so I've just finished this, regretfully a lot later than I should have because i would have appreciate it a lot more a few years ago. regardless i still LOVED it despite Suzy's awful acting (as usual, although must admit slightly better than her recent work). I have never wanted BOTH male leads to succeed equally than I did in this drama and still felt happy with the ending!! everything was tied up really nicely and leaves you feeling good :) IU was greaaaaatttt (singing, but also just cute AF) and the whole story is a classic -- seriously recommend as a watch if you can look past the outdatedness of it. watching JYP acting was also the funniest thing!!! HES SO GOOD HAHA
