Why did i watch this. why!
This is a rant and will not help anyone. But please don't watch this drama or prepared to be frustrated.We were promised a red flag, dark, ruthless, crazy mad ML. Well he was for the first few episodes and then he turned to mush.
I watched the whole drama waiting for him to show up but he never did.
And where did the highly trained assassin FL went. Oh she was tending to the crops.

It will want you to fall in love again and it will break your heart.
Let me start with how much I loved this series then I’ll come to what I didn’t like.This is one of the most beautiful romance that I have come across after a long time. The way it was filmed, the story, music, cinematography, the acting and oh man Jerry Yan. What more can I say. This beautiful story stayed with me for days.
Apart from the chopped edits which I heard were due to censorship and Han Yu. I loved everything about this film.
Han Yu character seemed like a stalker. No matter even if they were childhood friends. The FL put up with it for the sake that his family had done so much for her which wasn’t that clear so I felt his presence a nuisance and his persistent courtship overwhelmingly unbearable. The second love story started very strong but then it just went from cute to crazy.
But nothing can make me give this beautiful masterpiece anything less than a 10. I have never given a 10 to any show. I think this 10 is for Jerry Yan as well.

Watch it for the love of Zhang Linghe if nothing else
Let me first write why everyone should watch the drama: Zhang Linghe looks absolutely gorgeous as angsty angry ML.I'm not a fan of Bai lu but she acted so well. Their relationship will forever be iconic.
The story was fast paced unlike most of c-dramas (I'm used to watching k-dramas so no offense here to c-drama lovers as I'm used to series ending around 16 episodes).
The bad parts: badly edited and directed. It gets confusing at times. wasted enough time on Consort Shu character which was not necessary.
All in all this drama is a treat and one of the best to come out in recent years. A must watch.

A treasure in c-dramaland - Beautiful Heartbreaking Full of Life Lessons Story
Oh where to begin.The FL wakes up to redo her mistakes only to learn you cant turn back time. Its heartbreaking but beautiful story. The romance is on another level with FL bent on undoing what can't be undone. And the ML was the epitome of a rich boy who was selfish and embroiled in his own love. And when he realizes his folly, the pride doesn't leave him. What a perfect characterization. I simply loved the ML character.
A part of me wished the drama had ended where Xiwu leaves the food Hua Qian makes for him. Alas the reality kicks in.
