Quick questions: Did they swap the main lead of the story? In the novel description, I presume it's a female lead but in the tv show, it's Tian Jia Rui?
Posting here in the comments so no one gets spoiled. I think that the final scene after Ji Ling brings Lu WuYi…
Thanks for the comment @DistantDream and I agree with you @Yara_love! The vessel idea wouldn't have worked out so they were definitely going to have the 10th dragon. As for Ji Ling, he never erased himself. It's the recreation of Ji Ling that goes into the past, thus the original Ji Ling still existed. In the original plan, Wu ShiGuang was supposed to appear much earlier to ascend to Dragon Deity. In that timeline, I don't think Ji Ling would have gotten to the point of suicide but he def would have sacrificed himself once Wu ShiGuang appears.
How DARE Tian Jia Rui make me feel so many emotions AT ONCE. How can he make Ji Ling so carefree and innocent and ABSOLUTELY LOVABLE while also making the Dragon Deity look so regal and ABSOLUTELY DEPRESSED. I was honestly getting so much whip lash cuz...I won't go into spoilers in this comment...BUT STILL I AM IN PAIN.
Tian Jia Rui, he definitely pulled off every single character he played, giving them life and stories that were independent of one another. Seamless execution.
Now, I'll be moving on to Fangs and Fortune (I know, I'm so late to the game) to feed my growing obsession (please butterfly demon possess me so there's extra love for Tian Jia Rui)
Posting here in the comments so no one gets spoiled. I think that the final scene after Ji Ling brings Lu WuYi out of the past is that those two go to an alternate reality where spirits and demons don't exist. In that alternate universe, Lu WuYi is a real person and not pieced together by Jiu Ying. She also doesn't have a fragment of Jiu Ying because the Queen didn't have time to put it in her before Ji Ling killed her. Meanwhile, since Ji Ling managed to kill Jiu Ying when impersonating the Queen and taking Lu WuYi out of the timeline, I suspect that the universe they're in was reverted back to what should have been (i.e. Chi Wen's original plan). That's why once the refresh happens, Ji Ling is not there and Wu ShiGuang is already the dragon deity. In their original plan, Wu ShiGuang would have been sent to the Shiling sect once he was of age, acquired the dragon's powers and rid the world of JiuYing ages ago. With that burden laid down, Ji Ling would then have fulfilled his duty and perished and so Li Jie never got a chance to figure out who he was cuz the other butterfly demon would have also passed on once Ji Ling was put to rest. In this universe, You Chi would have probably accompanied Wu ShiGuang to the sect very early on and was taught discipline and strength instead of being raised in the forest with his laidback persona.
That's my interpretation at least. Feel free to add any thoughts below!
Is this really funny? I'm looking for something really funny but it's very rare for a historical cdrama to have…
This is a personal opinion, but I thought this show was really well done in the comedy aspect. The execution was well thought out and even when they start touching on the more deeper themes of the show, they still sprinkle in the comedic scenes to lighten the mood. All in all, I thought it was a great show. Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for a good laugh.
I actually love how the character development for YM was slow. It allowed to focus the first part of the show…
I'm actually so glad to see your comment. I think a lot of people don't like Song Yi Meng because we are seeing her from a god's perspective where we understand how everything is happening but she is seeing it only from her perspective which is that if she follows the events of the script, people she cares about will die. I also really liked how they took their time to emphasize this and let her come to her decision by herself without other people forcing her and instead, trying to gently guide her through facing her fears and embracing her feelings.
When the cast went onto the chinese variety show Hi 6, they said that a clip of that show was going to show up in ep 1 of the drama. Has anyone seen it/knows of it?
omg I just got to this part too, this show is making me cry and laugh all at the same time I love it so much.…
IK RIGHT! I felt so bad for laughing but then I had a moment of appreciation for the writing and the acting. It's phenomenal that they were able to pull that off so well. I'm excited to see what comes next!
