The cast being attractive people does a lot of heavy lifting for this series.
I don't know if I missed out on stuff due to things being lost in translation but I was so confused most of the time.
First of all the fact that they are step siblings......we could have completely avoided that. I would have overlooked it but way into their adulthood they still introduced each other as brother and sister. That was so icky to me. Them meeting their coworkers and calling each other brother and sister and when they get together none of the co workers question anything??? Is there some sort of cultural context that I'm missing here??
The age gap between them was not big but the way they portrayed them made it feel like a lot. Like Chen Yi was also supposed to be minor but you are depicting him as such an adult figure and Miao Jing as such a child. The dynamic with him being the sole guardian and her being this helpless child was weird.
I don't really feel them falling in love with each other or anything. At what age/time so they recognize their romantic feelings? I feel like we never had a conversation abt this between them. That kiss between them when she comes back, they were arguing abt something and out of the blue she dares him to kiss her and he does it????I feel like I'm missing something big here cause that line of conversation never makes sense. I couldn't really buy them as a couple. Where did the shift from having to care for each other as siblings shift??? I really don't know. And they just start being together at one episode with any convo. All of their conversations felt so shallow and out of the blue to me.
The whole audit thing and the drama with the big boss was so boring and confusing af. Why did Chen Yi ever have to work with him anyway? I honestly couldn't give a shit abt that plotline.
I can't applaud the acting cause both of the characters felt so emotionless most of the time. I don't think its the actors fault, maybe a directing/script thing.
Their whole environment was also weird to me. At one point it seemed like his friends wanted him to stay away from Miao Jing but then suddenly they are supporting his relationship. Tui Li and Miao Jing being so close when they have interacted like 3 times was questionable to me.
Anyways glad I finished watching this, what a chore
