This is a superbly well made grand production with huge budget, great costumes and props, and much attention to details. Of course the acting and premise is also great especially Chen Kun my favourite Chinese actor. Nini is good too.
What the drama suffers from is it's too long and draggy, and some writing parts may be distorted due to this. If not this couldve been a perfect 10.
My guess is nobody cares. Online networks such as Tencent isn't interested in this show enough to buy it, TV stations…
To make people care maybe someday someone can spin JY work into BL since most network/audience care the most for BL dramas now since The Untamed/WOH..haha. Just extend any original bromance in the novels with some BL hot steams hehe.

Haha make sense. ROCH is among First Tier JY work after all and expectations are naturally high. Welp Tencent/IQiyi/Youku would've bought the license earlier and produce by themselves afterall if they really wanted it like they made HSDS2019. The new version DGSD(also 1st tier JY) with Tony Yang also is being shelved and the released stills were not bad, can see they put good budget in the production values-i.e there are good landscapes and costume details are pretty good for visual values although some casting results remains to be seen such as WYY.
Tencent is filming its own JY adaptation 'feihuwaizhuan'(young flying fox) now but not the kind that worth expecting since this is only 2nd tier JY work and TBH, from leaked filming stills it's low budgeted-filmed only in Hengdian confine and set in Qing dynasty (QJJ the ML is bald and braided! Ugh!) anything set in Qing dynasty are ugly for aesthetics value i.e hairstyles/costume designs unless it's 90% palace centric where all cast wear beautiful wealthy clothes.

DGSD and ROCH are both among Jin Yong's top works. Why is it taking forever to release? It has been 2 years since HSDS2019 aired which was pretty good and enjoyable to me. I'm iffy about WYY and XLN but interested to see how they will pen up the story this time.
Fei Hu Wai Zhuan is currently filming but is not among Jin Yong better novels and the world is set in Qing dynasty so visuals like costumes and hairstyles wont be beautiful.Not really looking forward to it, besides the budget looks shabby. Not feeling the cast either.
They are taking forever to release this. Hope it means the post production work is good sjnce there are ample time. The budget looks pretty good, can see they put some thoughts to go to real scenic locations for beautiful real landscape.

The best character in the novel is Xing Fei's char. So clever and nice. ML is ok. FL1 in the novel a bit unlikeable but who knows they might change it to be more likeable for Liang Jie haha.
Other supporting roles aren't memorable or remarkable enough. LOL at Tencent making Peter Ho and LYS supporting roles again. Maybe age catching up.
