Thinking of starting this: what's it like? Does it drag? I've never been able to complete a sageuk before because…
The romance is very lukewarm and boring, the actors suck (with a couple of notable exceptions) and the writing+directing is absurd. The type where there's a fight of one against 6-7 who dutifully wait for their turn while the hero tackles them one or two at a time, and then at the end they again wait until the mains have their dramatic scene before attacking. If I weren't part of the subbing team I would have long dropped it. Comedy? Hardly any. Go watch Forbidden Marriage if you haven't already, for a good, balanced fusion sageuk.
Not sure it was fair. The fiancé was a lot less skillful...
But they were six who went to murder an innocent 12-13-year old child, whose only crime was to be born the son of a prince. Another teenager, 4 years older, was his only protection, and managed to defend him by defeating them. In this situation, are we talking about unfairness?
Uuughhhh.. why does the tyrant king has to be so cute???? Hahahaha
Because the actor is a sweetie trying too hard to play a villain by rolling his eyes etc., but not succeeding. I love this guy, but in this role he sucks.
Finally some good action and the chips are down now. The friends will stand together! Too bad they just did not…
You call that "good action"? You're sure easy to please. The enemy respectfully waiting until the mains have their moments of emotion, their dialogues, their glances etc. before attacking. Total BS!
by the way, why does king look like a girl with fake moustache.. he is so young and so paranoid about dead king's…
Yes, it was the wrong choice of an actor. He's not that young either, but has a baby face and he usually plays wistful, sweet characters with deep romantic eyes. He's trying to be a baddie here, but unsuccessfully, it's too far from his comfort zone as an actor.
Sometimes, I feel like we should start a "betting bracket" - who will survive and who will die. I'm rather surprised…
This kind of fantasy sageuk usually doesn't have deaths of the main leads, it keeps it light and with a sugary happy ending. It's not Tree With Deep Roots (but that's a MUCH more satisfying watch, with stellar actors, which this one has not).
Comedy? Hardly any. Go watch Forbidden Marriage if you haven't already, for a good, balanced fusion sageuk.
