It would have been much better if the two young leads could at least minimally act. She wasn't that bad, but he was completely expressionless the whole time. And, the story... What, he goes on his first visit to her house and immediately chases her through the house grabbing her here and there expecting sex then and there? Then he starts talking about love. And what love? He never thinks of how to protect her, secure her position, everything is done secretly from his father, because he knows very well that his father will be against it. Before leaving, he promises to write, to send his news, yet three years pass and no news of him, neither does he seek news of her. I get it, communication was difficult at those times, but when there's a will there's a way. As soon as he got the palace position, I didn't see him rush to send for her, instead he calmly waited for the king to just happen to send him on an official job in that region. Really? It was a coincidence she wasn't dead before he arrived. And yes, the pansoori was a test of endurance. No doubt the performer was a virtuoso, he did all sorts of things with his voice, expressing emotions, going up and down skillfully, but the harmonies sounded cacophonous to my Western ears. We were lucky to have the film to watch while listening, but when I think of the audience sitting on a chair and just listening to it for five hours... it would be torture!
The whole time I was asking myself: "What am I watching?" and then "Why am I still watching it"? The movie is all over the place, doesn't make any sense, scenes follow one another without rhyme or reason jumping like a monkey on drugs, and the dance sequences are all exactly the same. The two main leads are very sweet, but that's all. What a noisy yawn fest!

Poor actors, though. If the trend continues, they will be forced to do much more intimate things on screen like their European and American counterparts.
Hurt his feelings? She soothed his feelings, cured him from his despair and depression, made him believe in life and love again, made him realize his kingly potential and influenced him to implement changes beneficial to his people. It is you, I think, who hasn't been watching.
The best thing about this drama is the ending. It did not dwell too much on how to end the evildoers but instead…
Where did they call him His Highness? Only in the flashbacks, when he was still crown prince. As for the Great Queen Dowager, she is daebi mama, "Her royal highness". Not her grace. I'm talking, of course, about Joseon titles, not the ones for European royalty in which I am not knowledgeable at all. MBC TV has given the drama licence to Viki on condition that the drama will get shown in its own platform first and Viki can show it only after a few hours. Also, it's not subbed by volunteers, but by paid subbers (who suck, frankly. If I gave you some examples of their English, you would laugh). We only get to edit those subtitles afterwards - but our hard job gets unnoticed because everybody impatiently watches it as soon as it becomes available (I can understand that).
