I feel like in episode 5(?) when she was eating and he said something about not eating... the way she reacted, he might have caught on a little. I love this drama so much right now ;( Even though Chong Zi is young she's much better than many older Wuxia drama's female leads. Her reasoning is pretty much understandable and she's not annoying at all. It's breaking my heart how she's treated because of her evil breath. Especially how she's treated by Sima Maoyuan and the other Sage (he's the most unreasonable character of them all). It broke my heart how in the 10 episodes Luo said she's not his disciple anymore :( I know he doesn't mean it but it still hurts. I feel like the time she's going to die I will be very sad.
If you are not sure whether to start watching this drama I recommend you to wait for a few more episodes to come out... this drama is so good. I'm not usually a fan of this trope but the actors and script really do their job.
The second male lead can give her the love and care she wants but she's blind. I know it's the first love but it looks more and more of unhealthy relationship and somehow even Stockholm syndrom.

I'm really conflicted with this drama. I'm on episode 10 and it's bothering me how much Ruan gave up for him and he is just indiffrent. It's true from the comments below that he has little respect for her even after their divorce even though you could see that he somehow liked her and still do. I'm not sure if it's the writing or the actor's interpretation. What really stuck with me is the scene when she comes back to the hospital and Ning told Ruan to take off her lipstick (and she started wiping it off, I wanted her to stand up, honestly in episode 1st when they were in Africa I thought she's going to be pretty badass after divorce, but she quickly refused this idea). Like bruh what the hell, really, the whole scene my mouth was wide open. I hope that from what I read below in ep 22-21 HE will do something because right now SHE DESERVES BETTER. Get Ruan a male lead from meet yourself or someone else, not this jerk.
It is so refreshing to see an experienced actor playing the male role. I swear If they got someone inexperienced this drama would lose its spark. He created such amazing chemistry, his kisses, every time I was like damn, and also how this drama was written, such a breath of fresh air that was very much needed in dramaland. Finally watched a female lead that isn't a doormat. Please more of them. It was my first time watching these actors and I hope I'll get to see them more. Yoo Teo and Kim Ji Hoon are total beasts.

Hello there 🙌 I came to tell you that I finished Alchemy of Souls and also AOS: Light and Shadow like 4 days ago, and I must tell you that I kept your comment in my mind for all this time, and the truth is I waited with episode 20 till season 2 came out. So I have finished the series and loved it but Yul still was on my blacklist (especially for what he had done in his imagination to Buyeon in season 2 hehe). But being honest I think season 2 came to my liking more 💕😎
Finished part 2 in 2 days :( Even though the last two episodes weren't my cup of tea, I loved it. I will miss the amazing chemistry. Jang Uk and a girl with 4 names. It is this kind of show that you'll not easily forget and the emotions will stay with you for a long time. It is amazing how the Hong sisters are capable of writing such a beautiful script. Waiting for more of their dramas and especially for more projects from the actors that played in this drama 😭

Jesus, I thought that after they got together the scenes with Hongdu and Yao will lessen but what do I see at the end of episode 39 😎The chemistry is overflowing. I love Crystal's natural acting and as I have watched Lixian in "go go squid" you can see that in this drama he feels much more natural. Overall one of the best dramas in the aspect of writing romance... just feels more adult and not forced.
