Very Underrated

Some dramas arrive with huge hype.
Others quietly walk in, sit down, and then suddenly steal your whole heart.

Love Crossed was the second type for me.

I didn’t go in expecting something extraordinary. The virtual-boyfriend / AI idol concept sounded interesting, sure, but I was prepared for clichés, awkwardness, maybe even draggy episodes. Instead, what I found was a show where everything just… fit.

The plot felt fresh. Not loud, not overly complicated — just different enough to keep me curious about what would happen next. Every episode moved smoothly, and I never had that urge to skip or fast-forward. That alone already makes it rare.

The chemistry? Very much there.
The emotions landed.
The characters were lovable and easy to root for.

No one felt unnecessarily irritating, no conflict felt stretched beyond its limit, and the story knew exactly when to move forward. It’s such a comfortable yet exciting balance.

What I love most is the surprise factor. This is the kind of drama you start casually, maybe even with low expectations, and then suddenly you’re invested.

It’s not messy, it’s not chaotic, it’s not trying to be shocking. It’s simply a well-placed, well-paced, genuinely enjoyable ride.

"Nothing new, nothing terrible"

It is a predictable contract marriage drama. It follows exact formula you expect. You'll probably enjoy this if that's what you're expecting. The main couple did a decent job with chemistry. A lot of cute scenes and common stakes. I did enjoy it till some point but after that it was a drag. I think the plus point is that the actors look really compatible on screen.

Characters:
Again there's nothing new in this. A poor and determined female lea, a cold boss, a kind second male lead who treats female lead better, an annoying second female lead who tries to create misunderstanding, a mother in law hates fl but loves her in the end, a grandma who adores fl, a best friend who supports fl.

The performance by the cast was okay. The leads did a better job as a couple and their chemistry stood out rather than individual performance.

Overall, many people will enjoy this drama as it has the entertainment factor and people usually like cliches, but it was an okay-ish to meh for me.

Top-tier chemistry trapped in too many episodes

Skate Into Love stands out because of its icy, sporty backdrop. Figure skating, speed skating, competitions — visually, it’s fresh and fun, and I genuinely think the drama made me like ice sports more than I ever expected.

Let me be very clear about one thing: I LOVED the first 15 episodes.

The start of the show is packed with energy. The comedy is relentless, the childhood connection is hilarious from both perspectives, and the rivals-to-lovers setup is done at just the right pace. Plus — elite trope alert — he falls first. He starts off annoyed by her and somehow ends up whipped, and watching that transition is incredibly satisfying.

What makes the drama even better is how the leads break typical stereotypes.

The female lead is bold, confident, and almost alpha in her energy, which feels refreshing in a genre that often leans toward softer, overly delicate heroines. She’s strong, athletic, loud when she needs to be, and the actress plays her so naturally that it never feels forced.

And the male lead? Absolute love. He isn’t the usual cold, emotionless genius. He’s expressive, dramatic, sometimes petty, sometimes adorable — and that makes his chemistry with her so entertaining to watch.

Their dynamic really carries the show.

Now… we need to talk about the problems.

WHY are there SO MANY second leads???
The man has multiple people orbiting him. She has multiple people orbiting her. It becomes less “romantic tension” and more “emotional traffic jam.” After a point, it’s just exhausting.

But the biggest issue for me was the length. This drama would have been PERFECT if it wrapped up around 25 episodes. Instead, the plot keeps stretching, conflicts repeat, and I found myself losing patience. I actually had to read summaries for some middle parts and fast-forward through scenes — never a good sign.

There’s also a breakup that feels very forced, like it exists purely because the story needs extra drama to continue.

Still, I can’t deny the impact of the beginning. When this show is good, it’s REALLY good. It’s funny, romantic, refreshing, and full of personality.

So in my head, Skate Into Love is half amazing, half unnecessarily long — but the amazing half is strong enough that I still remember it very fondly.

I see the appeal, but it wasn’t fully for me.

A Love So Beautiful is one of those dramas you hear about very early if you’re entering C-dramas. It’s popular, it’s loved by many, and at this point it’s basically a classic high school romance. You don’t even have to like it to admit its status.

For me, though? It was more of an okay-ish watch than a favorite.

Let’s start with the main dynamic. The male lead spends a huge part of the show acting cold, distant, and emotionally unavailable, while the female lead is relentlessly, almost aggressively, in love with him. At first, I didn’t mind it — it felt like the usual setup. But as episodes passed, I started getting serious secondhand embarrassment from how hard she kept chasing someone who shut her down again and again.

And I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of the trope where the guy’s feelings only show up through jealousy after treating the girl poorly for half the drama. I know it’s meant to be romantic, but sometimes it just made me frustrated.

The time skip is another thing I’m conflicted about. Was it necessary? Probably not. But weirdly… I liked the characters more after it happened. They felt more mature, more aware, and the reunion had a sweetness that the high school portion sometimes lacked.

Now, positives — because there are some.

The drama absolutely maintains its vibe. It has that nostalgic, youthful, slice-of-life feeling that makes it comforting even when you’re annoyed. And I really loved the second lead and a part of me genuinely wished she would end up with him — he deserved better. I liked the second couple. Their storyline felt fresher, cuter, and even more engaging than the main romance.

I also have to admit, whenever the main leads were actually good together, they were really nice to watch. Those moments reminded me why people love this drama so much.

In the end, I understand why A Love So Beautiful is considered iconic. It captures young love in a way that sticks with people. It just didn’t always work for me personally. Still, I enjoyed parts of it, and the later versions of the characters — especially after the time skip — made the journey feel worth it.

Recommended — only if unhinged rom-com nonsense is your thing.

(I'm only giving this positive feedback because I have watched it long back. If I have watched it for the first time now, I'm not sure this would have been my review)

My Girlfriend Is an Alien was actually my first ever Chinese drama — and my first drama in general — so I know I’m probably biased. Back then, I absolutely LOVED it. I remember finishing it in two days because I just couldn’t stop watching.

Looking back now, I can admit it’s kind of funnily unhinged. The premise is weird, dramatic, and sometimes ridiculous, but when it works, it really works. From what I remember, the story was entertaining, light, and easy to binge. It doesn’t try to be deep or extremely logical — it exists to make you laugh, swoon, and enjoy the ride.

The show depends heavily on the main couple: the cold, distant boss and the chaotic, perverted alien girl. And honestly? They carry it. I really liked the female lead — she’s cute, silly, shameless, and very lovable. The chemistry between the leads felt natural and fun, and the actors did a good job making the romance believable. Compared to some stiff performances you sometimes see, this felt refreshing.

If I had to complain, I’d say the last few episodes started to feel a bit repetitive. But for dramas like this, I don’t think you’re supposed to take the plot too seriously anyway. It’s more about entertainment and vibes than tight storytelling.

Also, can we talk about the second female lead / villain? So. Freaking. Irritating. But at the same time, that’s pretty common in many C-dramas, so I guess she did her job well.

Even now, after a few years and with my tastes having changed, I still like it. Logically, I’d call it an okay drama. But emotionally? Because it was my first experience and because of how obsessed I was back then, I can’t help giving it extra points. I was satisfied with the ending, and it still has a special place in my heart.

Don't miss out on this masterpiece!!

Detective Chinatown honestly shocked me in the best way possible.

First of all: this show is CRIMINALLY underrated. The drama is divided into 3 parts/stories.

The first arc? Absolutely top tier. The way the story presents events that seem supernatural and then slowly reveals the very human greed and schemes behind them — I loved that twist. Every reveal felt smart, satisfying, and a little mind-blowing. It pulled me in immediately and never let me go, especially in those opening episodes.

Then comes the second part, which isn’t exactly a traditional case but more of a character-driven build. Even though it changed the format, I still found it gripping because the tension and psychological play stayed strong.

But I have to confess something.

I got attached to Lin Mo. So when the series shifted to other detectives, it felt like emotional betrayal . Their stories were interesting too, yes, but I wanted more of him, more of his methods, more of his journey. A part of me really wished those other investigations had been separate movies instead.

And can we talk about something nobody seems to discuss???

I know this isn’t a romance drama, but Lin Mo and Sa Sha’s chemistry stood OUT. I kept waiting for more crumbs, more development, anything. Yet barely anyone talks about her or ships them. In an already tiny fandom, the shippers are almost extinct. Am I alone here??

Despite being a thriller, the drama balances comedy surprisingly well. The humor never ruins the tension; it actually makes the characters feel more alive. That mix is hard to pull off, but the show makes it look effortless.

I finished it thinking: how is this so good and still so under-watched?

A clean watch

Professional Single was one of my earliest C-dramas, and I remember absolutely loving it. The funny thing is, even now when I think back on it, I realize I still do.

The whole story is set in an art college, and that setting alone gives the drama such a calm, pleasant vibe. It’s the kind of show you put on when you want to relax and just spend time somewhere nice. Nothing too heavy, nothing too stressful — just romance, friendship, and a bit of comedy blended together in a really comfortable way.

I like that the drama is very level-headed. It never becomes extremely silly or irrational, and it doesn’t try to force unnecessary drama either. Is it realistic? Not really — college life isn’t always this pretty or happy. But it also doesn’t completely ignore problems. There are stakes, just handled softly. It shows a version of campus life that most of us would love to experience, and that’s part of its charm.

And the vibes? Warm, easy, comforting.

Now let’s address the VERY obvious thing — the height difference. I know many C-dramas use this trope, but here it genuinely feels extreme. She looks so tiny next to him, and somehow it becomes ridiculously cute and adds to their overall dynamic.

I also appreciated the female lead a lot. She isn’t trying hard to act cute; it comes naturally through her clumsiness and personality. That makes her feel more genuine and less forced. The male lead did a really good job too, and together their love story feels clean, soft, and satisfying without unnecessary toxicity.

One more thing I truly appreciated — it didn’t drag. You know how some dramas start losing energy toward the final episodes? I never felt that here. It stayed consistent and pleasant all the way through.

At the end of the day, this drama might not be revolutionary or super deep, but it gives you something equally important: comfort. It’s easy to watch, easy to like, and sometimes that’s more than enough.
