then don't watch it cause whether you like it or not, it's kind of connected to them and Army's would watch it…
"Don't watch it then." Thanks for proving my point about insufferable BTS fans

Maybe you missed the most important aspect of the whole scene, the religious? As a christian, suicide is the biggest…
Catholicism is not like post great awakening christian religions where god can see your heart, it is very tied to ritual and semantics. They baptize babies right after birth cause of this. It doesn't matter that the baby is innocent--you want heaven, you must get baptized--no baptism cause you died hours after birth? Hell for you. You died in the confession chamber seconds before getting absolution even tho you had every intent to confess? Hell for you. So this actually makes PERFECT sense according to catholic theological logic. I'd suggest doing some research on the religion if you want to understand better.

They should've chosen a more charismatic actor to play the Anjin. It's such an important character but I feel…
Really? He's so bold and unrelenting, though. I find his character really interesting and important in providing a contrast to the culture and beliefs of the Japanese. And I love that he's just a normal dude, I find that way more realistic and interesting--he is completely out of his element, and was just your average ship captain not some famed or noble fighter or something--and in Japan has no power and doesn't speak the language or even know how to fight in their way, why would it make sense for him to outshine characters like Toranaga and Mariko and some of the others? IDK I find him just as compelling as other characters in his own way. He's a good actor, if you've seen him in other things, and it would make a lot more sense for him to grow into more of a hero character in coming seasons

Am I the only one that thinks ep.9 was amazing and that ending was perfectly fit?! 😅 with so much substance…
I was weirdly disappointed when she didn't end up dying in the seppuku, even though I didn't want her to die, cause it has been such a beautiful episode and lead up to her death, I thought it would have been more moving for her to die. And then when she died at the door I was upset again cause they made us think she would live. This is me saying I agree lol

I did not expect to love this drama this much, turned it on randomly cause I love the FL actress, but each ep I get exponentially more and more invested-- why did I choose an airing drama to start, the wait is TORTURE.

This is one of my favorite writers, and I love bromance. My first thought is that this is gonna be awesome, but then I saw it's loosely based on BTS storylines.

I'm worried the BTS connection is gonna overshadow the story, writer, actors, everything, there will be no respect for the show itself. I just wanna watch a good drama, I don't really care about the group or how it relates to that.

Sorry I just can't stand unattractive male leads on my screen so I am gonna skip this one plus Disney sucks so…
Thank you. It's not as fun to have superior taste in dramas when everyone else does too, gotta have you bottom feeders to make the rest of us look good

I’m not worried at all that this age gap romance will have no chemistry .. because this is by director Ahn Pan…
Him casting Yoo Ah In for SLA was so brilliant. I can't think of any other actor his age who could have pulled that off in the same way. PD Ahn knows talent when he sees it.

I came down to the comments just to post about how after looking at the promo pics I have no doubt the leads will make us yearn with the chemistry. Wi Ha Joon has a very strong vibe to him, like a piillar. And Ryeo Won has a very free spirited feel to her characters, so I think they will match well and the age gap won't matter.

Not gonna lie, I dropped this numerous times, but kept trying to watch it because everyone kept raving about it…
I am in the same boat! I keep starting the first ep and then not finishing, and then coming back and trying again. I may be doomed tho cause I can't go 10 eps with nothing.

Can I drop it? I am on ep4 and bored…if I drop it will I be missing something spectacular…I think I am bored…
You made the right choice. This peaks at ep 6 and it's a slow and steady decline thereafter.

If you are interested, go watch Yeo Jin Goo in Beyond Evil!! He did such a great work there.
Beyond Evil is def his best role. He acts across one of Korea's greatest actors and does not at all seem lacking

I usually dislike Yeo Jin Goo in historical roles but this was one of his better ones so that's nice for a change.…
I agree so much at the lost potential. There are any number of ways they could have taken this with both the clown/king staying in the drama with parallel arcs. I would have loved for the King to find some more humanity while Ha Seon got more corrupted by the court, then had the king come back and watch all hell break loose as Ha Seon and Lee Gyu had to face what they’d done and justify whatever moral choice they would then try to make. Thinking about the tension of the second half like that makes me sweat. And that's just one possible path for the plot.

YJG is a good actor but he struggles to show as much charisma in "good" characters compared to tortured ones. So I just found the king so much more interesting even though he didn’t do anything—he also had better chemistry with the queen even though she hated him. Ha Seon was so flat to me. By the end even the most interesting character of all, Lee Gyu, who had been all these wonderful shades of grey, had become so watered down even the actor playing him seemed bored.

It was fine but could have been so much more. Me and my friend like to pretend this show ended when they killed the king, and say this was our favorite 6 episode drama.

Pride & Prejudice?I would not call either male lead proud and arrogant, the big brother especially, he even refuses…
OP is referencing characters from a novel, not the traits of pride and prejudice LOL.

"She doesn't give a damn about traditional values, manners, social classes, and anybody else except friends and family members." -- This literally is an exact description of Elizabeth Bennet, the main FL of Pride and Prejudice, I'm sorry but this is so funny

I was sure this drama was on ep 14 or something because of how passionately everyone is hating on it, but it's on episode 6 and people are this angry. This is fun.

All of this could be true and that doesn't mean they're not honoring his memory by shedding light on an important issues. How can they be cashing in on his story when no one would even know the connections but for you guys spreading these posts calling out the tiny details? You're just a random fan of his, so what do you think gives you the right to gatekeep anything about him as if you somehow knew him? You liked his music and obsessed over his public persona--you did not know him, only those close to him knew the real person he was. If something needs to be said publicly let that be done by his family and friends, not some delusional fans. You're the one cashing in on his memory to try and make yourself feel important or relevant by stirring up drama that isn't even there.
