the Socrates/Alcibiades relation in the book pictures the relation between In and Siam, so is it the way to tell…
I love this way of seeing it.
However I just can't get out of my mind the fact, that Wang is a living copy of his dad (as his reminescences showed) and In sees it, and there must be a thought of the incarnation in his head. Also, let us not forget that In was much younger than Siam.
Anyway, it is quite interesting where will we be taken by this story. I'm looking forward to the next eisode. <3

In ep4, there was a scene where In said, "We can tell a lot from what people read," and then offered Plato's Symposium…
the Socrates/Alcibiades relation in the book pictures the relation between In and Siam, so is it the way to tell the boy the truth about his father rather, or a warning to him if he wanted to get closer to In? I think In is attracted to Wang, would he give him the book to push him away?
2 2
Kinda predictable: I think it was a triangle, Siam didn't love the woman but got married to her. He loved In but In loved the woman first and when he understood that his real love was Siam, it was too late. Then Siam just had an accident.
Now the boy is kinda incarnation of his father, but the mother will try to go for In as well. Beautiful mess.
But I may be wrong ofc.
The athmosphere is great, the philo stuff is interesting. The movie is a bit like a Shakespear play and the characters are psychologically deep, but...
damn, why is it again sooooo slow? Why oh why?
Plus, the woman is sometimes too teatrical, her part is exagerrated, it makes it difficult to watch.
Well, I am looking forward to the next episodes, but I swear if all this prelude ends up with just a horse lip kiss i will shoot myself. With a bow.

I see you have not watched Yaoi in the first place :D...The first minute of this drama is actually one of the…
PS..this should make the things clear once and for good. :)
Rape fantasy is a theme commonly associated with yaoi.[114] Anal sex is understood as a means of expressing commitment to a partner, and in yaoi, the "apparent violence" of rape is transformed into a "measure of passion".[126] Rape scenes in yaoi are rarely presented as crimes with an assaulter and a victim: scenes where a seme rapes an uke are not depicted as symptomatic of the violent desires of the seme, but rather as evidence of the uncontrollable attraction felt by the seme towards the uke. Such scenes are often a plot device used to make the uke see the seme as more than just a good friend, and typically result in the uke falling in love with the seme.[114]

While Japanese society often shuns or looks down upon women who are raped in reality, the yaoi genre depicts men who are raped as still "imbued with innocence" and are typically still loved by their rapists after the act, a trope that may have originated with Kaze to Ki no Uta.[126] Kristy Valenti of The Comics Journal notes that rape narratives typically focus on how "irresistible" the uke is and how the seme "cannot control himself" in his presence, thus absolving the seme of responsibility for his rape of the uke. She notes this is likely why the narrative climax of many yaoi stories depicts the seme recognizing, and taking responsibility for, his sexual desires.[127] Conversely, some yaoi stories such as Under Grand Hotel subvert the rape fantasy trope entirely by presenting rape as a negative and traumatic act.[128]

A 2012 survey of English-language yaoi fans found that just 15 percent of respondents reported that the presence of rape in yaoi media made them uncomfortable, as the majority of respondents could distinguish between the "fantasy, genre-driven rape" of yaoi and rape as a crime in reality.[65] This "surprisingly high tolerance" for depictions of rape is contextualized by a content analysis, which found that just 13 percent of all original Japanese yaoi available commercially in English contains depictions of rape. These findings are argued as "possibly belying the perception that rape is almost ubiquitous in BL/yaoi."[65]

I hope you have not forgotten that YAOI is a complete fantasy, or..? :D
Because you see, Yaoi/BL IS a complete fantasy.
The real life stories you'll find in the LGBT cinema.
Wishing you the best of luck,
Evana, full, grown, ass, adult.

Sei No Gekiyaku, one of the most beautiful yaoi /BL movies, is all about rape and torture. Yet we watch it, admire it and love it without thoughts to kidnap, inprison and torture someone.
This movie is the best example of the fantasy that remains fantasy, and noone has any doubt about it.
It is true what @bri73 says: condemning this scenes is an attempt for censorship. If we go on, we will have to ban 75% of yaoi/BL movies!
Tharn Type is a very interesting case here: we all know the drama story and we also know the real story, and MewGulf being the cutest couple ever.
Well, the movie is just a movie and we are adults and we know that the lack of consent in anything, not only sex, is usually devastating to relationships.
But Yaoi/BL movies are not there to teach young people approach to life: yaoi/BL movies are only fantasy, nothing else.
The LGBT cinema is a totally different story.

...and here is something about Gagaoolala and why I support it by subscription:
"Lin, a prominent gay activist in the self-ruled island, first had the idea for an LGBT+ streaming service while setting up the annual Taiwan International Queer Film Festival in 2014.

Looking to promote positive gay and transgender stories and to help other festivals to show Asian LGBT+ films, the idea for GagaOOLala was born.

“In order to survive, we need subscriptions and revenue but at the same time we want to bring in movies that don’t just entertain but educate and make an impact in politics and policy,” said Lin.

No countries in Asia allow same-sex couples to marry or enter civil unions, and Taiwan voters rejected the chance to legalize same-sex marriages in a referendum late last year.

Lin, 45, a trained lawyer who grew up in California but moved back to Taiwan in 2004, helped make and screen pro-LGBT+ films and shorts ahead the Taiwan vote.

Despite the rejection by voters, Lin still expects the government to introduce legislation on same-sex unions before the end of May in order to comply with a 2017 constitutional court ruling which set a two-year deadline for legalization.

“The defeat of the marriage equality referendum ... only brought out more determination from gays and their allies to be more vocal about their lives and the fight for rights,” said the father-of-two.

“Taiwan will is still going to be the first country in Asia that will have marriage equality or civil partnership.”

hahaha....yes, I do know what Gagaoolala platform is. I subscribe it to watch the movies legally. I also talk with the filmmakers and actors sometimes. They are not uncomfortable neither with the yaoi term nor with the explicit scenes inspite of the fact that they are LGBT people very often.
Obsessed? Yes, in a positive way.
I do not spend 90% of my time for watching the BL, like you do, though. ;)
I am interested in history, cultures, humanity, nature and I read a lot: the job of a tour guide demands a lot of knowledge, I couldn't be giving 90% of my time even to something that I love the most. ;)
You have a problem with fetishising gay people? Look at the BL industry! It prays on LGBT people using them as a bait, making new and new BL dramas that are undistingishable one from another, choosing only handsome actors that do not even look like normal people, always perfect and always white, feeding their fandomes with sweet portraits of perfect boys that are attractive so much to the girls dreaming of having one for themselves. And this is the problem. Not the "rape scenes" like the one in the drama above.
Aam Anusorn could tell you something about the toxic and homophobic environment of the BL industry and its even more toxic fandome consuming sweet boys but hating them being in any kind of real relationship.
Eh...so much for "fetishising" LGBT people ... and you, telling me that using the term YAOI I fetishise them... :D. No, I do not. I just love the story of not quite accepted homo(erotic) love and I love to watch people dealing with the feelings (including erotism) that are stronger than themselves. I also love the weird stuff that can be found in Yaoi, just like people love weird, weird stories of mangas.
Long live YAOI!

Dear, the term yaoi is not outdated and never will be. It comes from japanese and it is the very root of the genre that you.ve decided to call BL, saying that it is not the same, although it is exctly the same.
What's more, this is not up to you to decide which term has to be used. I will use the YAOI. Ok?
And I will use this term till the end of my days, YAOI is sacred for me and I will never change my mind on that no matter how terribly disgusted you may be bcz of that. :).
Yes, I am a fujoshi.
FU -JO - SHI.
I've been a fujoshi for 20 years now.

And, say what? I am a part of LGBT community. I am also a mom of an LGBT kid and a friend of many LGBT people. What's more, I am an LGBT activist. And a fujoshi, a person who loves watching YAOI, someone who worships YAOI and loves YAOI over any other genre of human art.
YAOI is my life. YAOI with the explicit sexual scenes and without them. And YAOI gods are here with me, blessing me with new and new ships.
And they are kind with me bcz I understand that YAOI is a type of art where sex is nothing more than our, fujoshi's/fudanshi's fantasy.
So face it. There is nothing else you can do about it. :)

"Yaoi (/ˈjaʊi/; Japanese: やおい [ja.o.i]), also known by the wasei-eigo construction boys' love (ボーイズ ラブ, bōizu rabu) and its abbreviation BL (ビーエル, bīeru), is a genre of fictional media originating in Japan that features homoerotic relationships between male characters.[a] It is typically created by women for women and is distinct from homoerotic media marketed to gay men, but it does also attract a male audience and can be produced by male creators. It spans a wide range of media, including manga, anime, drama CDs, novels, video games, television series, films, and fan works. "Boys' love" and "BL" are the generic terms for this kind of media in Japan and much of Asia; though the terms are used by some fans and commentators in the West, yaoi remains more generally prevalent in English."

The BL actually IS yaoi. It comes from yaoi, it is a fantasy, it has nothing to do with reality. The BLs just like yaoi, are 90% written by women and produced for women, and the BL fandome consists of women mostly.
Just face the truth, please.
Perhaps you think yaoi is the explicit sexuality only. Well, wrong, yaoi is not hentai. It doesn't have to contain sex scenes but... it often does which still doesn't make it hentai.
The famous Sei No Gekiyaku is explicitly sexual, and it is all about rape, yet by its own, japanese creators the movie is classified as BL and yaoi.
Please, to know more about the genre you would have to go back to the time where it all began, to Japan, and see all the complexicity of the phenomenon over the time and countries.
BL is yaoi and there is no limits to the fantasy it shows. It contains rape and violence, also psychological violence, that are nothing but fantasy and as such are not harmful to anyone, nor they teach to accept rape and violence in the real life.
Please watch other BL's/yaoi, like TharnType, Addicted Heroin, Pornographer, No Regret, Playboy And The Gang Of Cherry, Make Our Days Count, Junjou Pure Heart, etc etc. Pure yaoi/BL.

This movie is absolutely amazing, I frankly do not understand how come it is so underrated? Is it due to lack of sense of humour or maybe just because of expectations for a common BL? Well, it is nothing of classic BL although the subtle tension is there all the time, but it is a crazy, mad , wild comedy in the first place, absolutely crazy, almost Jim Carrey type stuff...and you don't have enough of the main characters. I love it, for me it is an absolute 10. And I watched it with no subs!
And just to give you an idea, watch this edit ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miTQu-MYW9M

And let me just say, it is great that so many Fillipino and Thai actors are out, and at the same time it's sad that there are very few japanese and korean ones, not mentioning chinese ... :(

It is YAOI and it means fantasy. The rape here is not rape. We watch it but we do not believe it. That's one thing.
The second, in this drama there is no rape. And you will see it if you watch the drama to the end.

It has one really good scene, and it is in the aquarium.
Apart from that it is just a really cute shounen-ai, with sweet leads and the seme being sometimes sweeter then the uke.
You can't have the KinnPorsche beefsteak all the time, you need a sweet lollypop for change sometimes...
