The movie is continuation. Its actually events between two episodes of the series ( I forgot which). They kinda skipped a long arc or case and now they put it in the movie.

Yo honestly Jihoon is lowkey creepy af. His smile seems so fake and creepy idk how to describe it. I wonder if we are getting more psycho Lomon!! loved him in "the guardians". I doubt they will go full psycho with this character but maybe some scenes. I also noticed that in the flashback, one of the two kids was not crying and very quiet. that was probably Jihoon. There must be a reason they chose to do that.
