Their relationship doesn't change that much; they just change the settings and the names. Wu Bi's original name in the novel is Gu Hai while Su Yu's original name is Bai Luo Yin. Coz if you combine their names, it's Hai Luo Yin which means Heroine in Chinese, and hence the title of the book was "Addicted",

Wu Bi's dad in the novel, is a highly-ranked military officer who wishes Wu Bi to follow suit and join the military, but he refuses and do not wish to do so coz he thinks that his father has something to do with his mother's death.

Then he moved to the little town where Su Yu stayed with the help of his aunt, who got him into the school that Su Yu was studying.

Wu Bi also has a girlfriend who is very macho-looking (the book stated she looks like a man), also Su Yu has an ex-girlfriend who will come back at the later part of their high school arch.


But before you read, I must warn you that it has a fair few of trigger warnings such as rape and kidnap.

As someone who has finished the novel, the main story about them being step-siblings is intact, but they added additional characters like that little girl (daughter of the aunty who owns the breakfast stall), of whom, in the novel, the aunty does not have children. They also altered some of the settings as well.

You can check out the novel, it's titled "Addicted" by Chai Ji Dan.

They renewed the drama for a season 2 in June 2022, production hasn't start since then as most of the actors are busy with other dramas. The production will start next year.

Yes! And also, the reason why all of this shit-hole happened is because of him. As Ruyi said, things can be prevented if the Emperor isn't so stuck up with himself and keeps things in order.

He kept pushing the blame on others but not himself. In his eyes, he only has himself.

He kept saying that he loved Ruyi dearly but refused to stand up for her whenever she was framed for something she didn't do. Ruyi has to take the matter into her own hands to prove her innocence with the help of Hai Lan and a few other concubines.

He's the one who kept Wei Yan Wan close and taught her step-by-step till most of his children and concubines were harmed by that snake.

He also schemed Consort Shu by giving her medicine that will prevent her not having any baby after they're done with intimation matters.

He also doubted Noble Consort Chun for the death of the Empress and her maid coz Noble Consort Jia framed her with the hairpin Chun lost earlier (she asked her maid to drop the hairpin on the death scene of the late Empress maid)
