Also the main highlight is the watchman! Finally we got to know him honestly not unexpected we saw it coming but still the way they put it at the end of the episode T-T. Ig my heart won’t be at ease until next Monday lol.

Ok but no one is gonna talk about the drunk Dan Oh scene? I was mad because Ban Ya ruined my drunk San moment but at least we got to see Dan Oh drunk T-T. The scene we all didn’t ask for but didn’t know we needed ! San is really smitten with Dan Oh the way he closed his eyes 😫😭

Looking forward for more and I’m wondering if Dan Oh would remember later on?

As of now he’s “using” her to get to Lee Seol but I think a “you’re my woman because I’m the king” trope isn’t unexpected at some point. Maybe he’ll fall in love and try to lock her up to keep her as his?

We can see in ep 11 trailer Kang San shoots an arrow at the king so maybe his identity is exposed (?). Or the Mokinhoe or whatever (Yoo Ha organization) starts making moves which lead to the king pushing Dan Oh on the cliff to have Lee Seol show up to save her (?)

Still, I really really hope nothing goes like this; crazy king, please leave my Dan Oh alone :,(

Ok so I realized something… idk if the cast list order counts but apparently In Gyo Jin, the actor who acts the “failed scholar” is listed the 4th support actor, right after Inspector Jang, the king and eunuch. I expected him to be listed along with Ms. Naju but he isn’t so I guess he has a lot more relevance in the story than being his current character. I previously wrote it in my other comments but the way he seemed uninterested when inspector Jang talked about offering him a position for finding Lee Seol means something. Normally I expected him being a bit shocked (?) like he seems an honest man so maybe ask Dan Oh or smth which he didn’t, he seemed normal as if nothing happened.

Not sure if any of this means anything but I hope we get to know more in ep 10 in a few hours…

Guys, since Kang San is Lee Seol and Yoo Ha is his illegitimate brother, who is Shi Yeol? At this point he (and the scholar who fails every year) is the most suspicious character with many question marks around him. The other time the monk addressed him “your majesty” and asked what he could address him otherwise (meaning no other way is worthy of addressing him). There is something very weird about him. Maybe he is the grand prince’s son (grand prince is the brother of Lee Chang and former CP).

Basically the queen mother says she watched her son killing her “two other sons” (if I’m not mistaken) so there’s a high possibility that Shi Yeol is the grand prince’s son and the cousin of Kang San and Yoo Ha. As I rewatch the episodes, I see that Shi Yeol is far more invested in Hong Ju than expected of a watchman so my suspicion of him being the watchman weakens every time I see them together “the watchman should be doing something more useful”.

Chile, when Shi Yeol left Kang San drunk at the kiseng house alone with Ban Ya (😒) I thought how can he do it as the watchman? Also Kang San seems to not know much about the watchman as he asked his father’s bodyguard about the watchman’s whereabouts, which means the watchman isn’t as close to Kang San as we might think. If watchman is Shi Yeol, Kang San wouldn’t have to ask anyone for him as they live together.

Kang San protected Shi Yeol the other day. Why did he do it when he is not the watchman?
1. To fool Inspector Jang into thinking that Shi Yeol is Lee Seol so that Kang San can go undetected (very unlikely cuz Kang San isn’t evil).
2. To save him truly because he doesn’t want other people hurt because of him (likely to happen).
3. He knows he is royalty and they are related (possibly his cousin or even brother) so he saves him (also likely to happen).

The way Kang San and Shi Yeol interact together makes me ship them not as master and protector, rather as brothers/cousins.

I read the other theory in the comments about the failed scholar being the watchman which is so interesting cuz why not! We should expect more plot twists coming our way. We can’t really say a lot as we don’t have enough screen time of the scholar yet but THERE IS something fishy about him. Also he didn’t seem very surprised when Inspector Jang talked to him about Lee Seol.

Omg it would be cool if he was! I became a bit concerned after Inspector Jang offered him a government position if he found out from Dan Oh who Lee Seol is. I do trust his character, he seems very loyal and the fact that he is staying at the inn back when Dan Oh’s father was alive says a lot.

What if… what if Dan Oh’s father’s death has to do with the rebellion? What are the odds that his death date matches the rebellion dates “coincidentally”? Maybe he was someone very close to the crown prince that Lee Chang had to kill in order to successfully revolt? And for that, the failed scholar stays by Dan Oh’s side to protect the family AND at the same time to remain hidden for as much as possible to protect Lee Seol? So like he’s living a double life? I’m not very convinced by this theory that he’s the watchman however we can 100% say there is something fishy about him as he’s been there for a decade “failing” the state exam every year which doesn’t make sense at all.

Ok but I really wanted a drunk San with Dan Oh moment :(( like fr the moment I saw the wine at the hazing ritual I thought to myself there must be a drunk San scene. Too bad Ban Ya kiseng ruined my moment 😤 like bruh just get it he doesn’t want you so stop laying yourself all over and get a life! Also I wished Shi Yeol would take him home since I thought he was the watchman and it would be dangerous to leave him drunk in Inspector Jang’s place (the kiseng house basically). I really wanted him to give her the pastry he got her 😣💔 I hope we get at least one real drunk San with Dan Oh scene cuz it’s too funny and cute 😫

Ok so here are some of my thoughts (didn’t read the novel)
1. The “3 kings” are as follows: Lee Chang (the current king), Lee Seol (Kang San) and Jung Yoo Ha. I added Yoo Ha to the list because it’s very obvious he is a royal, either the brother of Lee Seol or his relative. Him being the “hidden child” of the Jung family was very sus at the beginning and even more sus after the death of his “mother”, then we got spoon fed by the minister and kiseng house owner that he is of royal blood.

2. Kim Shi Yeol isn’t a random fun character, I’m sure he is the watchman or smth. He also saved Kang San when poisoned. Both Kang and him pretend to not know each other to prevent being found out. He joined the inn out of no where right after Kang San came so there’s no way other than Shi Yeol is shadowing Kang San and protecting him. Shi Yeol told fl older sister “is it because of me” (that she is living as a ghost and is supposed to be dead)? So as many ppl expect, he must be the watchman who killed her fiancé and now feels bad about it or smth. However, I remember at a time, a monk came to Shi Yeol and addressed him as “your majesty” as in king, which is very confusing. Maybe he poses as Lee Seol and represents him so that no one knows what Lee Seol really looks like? Orrr is he Lee Seol brother? Did the “3 kings” mean 3 living royals other than the current king?

3. Speaking of the watchman, Yoo Ha is also kinda sus (although i believe he’s a prince). The day Dan Oh was in danger and Kang San came to protect her, Yoo Ha took Dan Oh somewhere safe then went to “check on the situation” and out of nowhere the watchman comes and fights inspector Jang. Inspector Jang confirmed it was the same watchman he fought before (the one who killed his son). Given that Kang San (Lee Seol), was in danger the watchman who comes will be the real watchman (?). Then Yoo Ha comes back and says “everyone was gone when I arrived”. It’s very sus but I’m keeping my theory as him being a prince cuz it makes more sense that way.

4. Ban Ya (the noble kiseng) will first feel bad for fooling Dah Oh into being her friend to gain her trust to become a spy for Inspector Jang. However she will then see how Kang San treats Dan Oh and become jealous of Dan Oh (idk I feel it, most characters like Ban Ya end up like this). Maybe at some point she knows some info about Lee Seol and spills it to inspector Jang, but then when she realizes it’s Kang San she will either stop and protect him or proceed with her plan because he rejected her (?). So I’ll label her as a pre-villain for now.

5. Ok since Kang San is Lee Seol, he must have realized from the beginning that Dan Oh is the girl who saved him. I suppose it was when he came to the inn to get his bag in the first episode, and he told her how shameless she is for stealing it and he should talk to the owner; then the servant came and called her “My lady”. He muttered to himself “Lady?” That’s where he knew it was her. Flashback to 10 years ago in the same place, when they were sitting outside after they cried, the same servant came looking for her. So basically he knew it since day 1. This must be the reason why he was kind to her and protected her in secret even before she knew anything.

6. The minister who proposed making Yoo Ha king is a good man, as well as kiseng house owner. I believe she is the mother of Yoo Ha or she was closely aquatinted with his parents or something like that which is why she was shocked when she heard who he was. I’m also rooting for queen dowager 💯. I hope her character doesn’t flop or smth. I want her to live and see a good king being throned.

The confusing part rn is “3 kings”. One is Kang San, one is Yoo Ha (most likely to be cousin of Kang San) and then we have current king. Shi Yeol doesn’t seem to fit anywhere except for being watchman, or maybe he’s second son of former crown prince (Lee Seol younger brother).

Edit: I realized something about Shi Yeol. Since Kang San is Lee Seol, how did SY know the name “boksil” and why did he specifically name a very similarly looking dog like Dan Oh’s dog with the same name. He’s not Lee Seol, but he must have witnessed the scene. How? He was secretly there “shadowing Lee Seol” because he is the watchman.

Ok I’m kind of mad at the rushed “happy ending” because to me, it wasn’t like that. Firstly, I don’t see how fl got Justice for her family, I mean as in revenge. The queen just took poison and went crazy, thats it? Ok, they announced to everyone that her family is innocent and all but I still think it’s not fair enough for her. Also, why would ml take a year to confess? And why did they stop there after he confesses. I really wanted to see her at least become queen or something. Jang Garam and Myung Jin ending was nice as well as the Sergeant. The visuals are amazing and acting is good. I hoped the final events would be delivered with more details but oh well.
At least I got to see fl in girls clothes…

Here’s a list of what I expect/want to happen (hopefully) (based on me and trailers; I didn’t read the novel):

- Emperor:
* He ends up dying (please T-T). He deserves it. Like, the fact that he forced fl to stab and kill her own cousin (still can’t get over it) is so disturbing, even if he didn’t end up dying. If I were fl I would go crazy honestly and plot the downfall and murder of emperor even after I had known my cousin is safe. I’m still wondering why she didn’t have any nightmares or PTSD after it T-T? Guess the screenwriters didn’t really think of adding details (?) I hope the emperor leads a horrible death for all the psychotic things he did.
* Alternative route: he still lives and becomes a lonely crazy tyrant who doesn’t care for his subjects and his people eventually turn against him for being bad. There’s a possibility of him killing his eunuch too.

- Wanwan
* She becomes Princess Reagent over the country since her brother dies and they bring a young relative to be a child emperor (?) while Wanwan marries the prince whom she loves at the same time.
* Alternative route (more realistic): Wanwan runs away with the prince while empress dowager becomes reagent over a distance relative child emperor.

- BYL and XD
* Both leave the capital to travel the world with Ba Gong Gong.

- Tong Yun ands Cao
* They still remain married in the capital.

- Prince of Nanyuan
* (I’m writing while I still didn’t watch ep 31 and 32 because I have a lesson now T-T so I’m not sure if anything happens to him in these episodes: whether he is executed or runs away successfully) will probably be killed by emperor/ he commits suicide.
* Alternative route: he ends up running away and might eventually help XD and BYL in killing emperor.

- Alternative route to everything I expected above (not very likely to actually happen) —> Prince of Nanyuan doesn’t die and XD decides to plot rebellion with the prince in order save BYL from emperor. Emperor dies, empress dowager has to surrender and is moved somewhere else. Wanwan and the young prince either break up or remain together. Prince of Nanyuan takes throne. XD and BYL leave the capital together with Ba Gong Gong.

- Alternative route to my alternative route (very possible actually if Bu Yinge doesn’t die in ep 31/32) —> Bu Yinge has slept with the emperor before, she gets pregnant and gives birth to his son. After emperor dies (maybe from craziness or he gets killed) the Princess/empress dowager become regent over child emperor. Bu Yinge is executed after she gives birth.



I don’t want the empress dowager to flop because she was the one who opposed BYL entering the palace (and by this she basically saved her life for the time being). Also I want BYL and her cousin reuniting scene to be shown so I can rest in peace.



Wait… what if one of our leads end up personally killing the emperor T-T? That would be amazing T-T. But it’ll probably make it so dark.

Does anyone know when this will air T-T? Also where can I read the novel?

ikr tbh i was disappointed the most with Wanwan. Like the others are expected tbh cuz their the villains duh. Wanwan.. so annoying. Even more than Tongyun at this point. When it comes to Wanwan she gets protective of her love but she doesn't care about others like wth. Ig we shouldve saw it coming cuz she's the sister of Fu Wang (birds of same feather flock together).

Ok idk if any of y’all noticed this but while i was randomly seeing tmrws trailers I noticed something at the end of ep 26 trailer. The empress said “since XD went crazy for a woman, I’ll join him in it”. This made me replay the trailers again and again. Does she mean she will join him in “going crazy” on BYl in a sense of targeting her to get rid of her orrrr is it in a sense of “protecting her” and keeping her safe for him. It’s so confusing. I hope it’s the latter. Her facial expressions in the trailer were not evil at all in my eyes… sad but not evil. Like she gave up. Like she is guilty and wants to fix her mistakes (?). A remorseful expression. (Hope I’m not delusional T-T).

This lead me to notice another thing in the trailer. She and the emperor were never in good terms but in the trailer it seemed to get worse. She was questioning how he is going against her for BYL (as much as I understand) which also gave me a hint that she might collab with XD and BYL (?) to go against the emperor since they are against him anyways. But this still won’t make sense because in XD eyes the empress is his n1 suspect who killed his brother as of now. I hope his questions get answered quickly cuz I believe it’s the emperor who killed the brother because he saw something he isn’t supposed to see.

Anyways we have a little less than 24 hrs for the episodes to be released T-T I like the empress tbh a very funny character. I don’t want her to flop. Let the darkness be for the dark ones (aka emperor).

Oh my goshhhh it will make sense if they reveal it that way 😭? I hope they reveal her identity soon cuz cmon I’m dead to know about her 😭. Did you read the novel? Your comments are always detailed and in depth, very interesting theories
