Yeah I’m pretty sure the emperor was not able to have his way with her that’s why he spread the rumors in order to keep her without any choice. But I believe they won’t consummate. If they do I might drop this drama ;(. a few hours before the new episodes come. Ok here's my villain and event list updates: Fu Wang: def the final villain. It becomes clearer and clearer after every ep and preview. He will forcefully take fl to the palace and try to force her which she will reject with all her might. To pin her down, he will spread rumors that both of them are together which will make XD furious and mad. That's where things start turning dark. We see him in tmrw's preview throwing the boots fl made him :( I got so sad seeing it cuz he didnt trust her.
Prince of Nanyuan: I'm pretty sure he was not the murderer. Why would the killer write his name all over the carriage and have his own medal (or whatever it is) on while killing. While killing... He's a noble, a royal. He can easily order his men to kill a mere "eunuch" right? Also what does West Shu's prince have to do with a eunuch? Also the "lanterns" on the carriage scream its Fu Wang... "The lantern Prince". Like... he once made lanterns with his nickname on to show fl so basically its an original idea of his. Also Prince of Nanyuan mentioned he's allergic to the scented sack thing (or whatever it is) and he would get rashes if he had it on. Actually I'm glad Fu Wang didn't give him death sentence cuz if he did, XD will have one less ally.
Empress Rong An: She's driving me crazy... crazyyyy. Normally we would she the fl love rival is another young beautiful girl but no. The empress T-T like plz cmon this is so funny (not bad actually, gives us a new route of the drama instead of the typical boring ones). If you think carefully it goes like this: Consort dowager vs Ex-Empress --> prize: a eunuch And oh gosh... she will turn the whole world upside down once she discovers he was a fake eunuch and that her fantasies could've been true. Like fr. I mean... she got so mad when a letter sent to her said "XD brought the best doctors to treat BYL and stayed in her room the whole night" and became so jealous. At that moment she pinned BYL as her enemy to revenge on.
Anyways she can't be the murderer of XD brother because - she is allies with Prince of Nanyuan and remember, the carriage in which the murderer was in had the lanterns with Prince of Nanyuan's name. Yes the empress was in love with him, or should i say wants him for her plessure. Im sure she will go crazy after discovering he is a fake eunuch. (in the novel it is said they actually had that kind of relationship.. even though she thought he was a eunuch. So glad they made him hate her and not do it in the drama). I see her as a stepping stone for the leads in order to get rid of emperor.

Fl marrying the emperor is unavoidable ig cuz its part of the main plot, so I hope it will be against her wishes (i dont want her to give herself up) and also hope they dont consummate. I agree with you. They changed many parts which is kind of annoying but honestly the ml in the novel was too dark and based on the novel reviews, he was a bad character (many didn’t see it romantic at all). His bad actions cannot be justified no matter how horrible his childhood was. I’m actually glad it was not him who killed the concubine cuz this will contradict his character (I mean his revenge is against the murderer of his brother). Also in the novel he assaulted the fl (?). Like, I want some darkness but not the toxic darkness if you know what I mean. That’s a reason why I didn’t read the novel cuz I know I would hate the ml. I prefer the lighter version as long as he is not toxic
Ok so here are my expectations for the villains based on some factors (flow of story, trailers, opening scenes etc). I might be wrong and yall are welcome to say what you think. Note: I didn’t read the novel.
1. The final boss is the emperor. Although he was pictured as that weak "lantern prince" I believe he did it on purpose to fool everyone in order to get the power for himself. He is NOT IN LOVE with Bu Yinlou, he IS OBSSESSED with her. He used Xiao Duo to sit on the throne. I feel like the young prince's death was no way an accident but he did it purposefully to eliminate the only heir of his brother the late emperor. As many of yall said before, they dont cast Peter Ho just to be a shabby character. Also, he is the first possible murderer of ml's brother.
2. Prince of Nanyuan will become an ally. Idk why but I have this feeling that he was not behind ml's brother's death. Instead, the ml was set up by someone to believe it was Prince of Nanyuan. This is kind of obvious from ep 20’s trailer (which airs tmrw). And also, eunuch of Fu Wang was worried that they will collude together (its like giving us a hint) however Fu Wang said this is not possible as each of them threaten the other's position (Fu Wang was ignorant of this possibility which made me more certain it will happen). Prince Nanyuan def has an evil aura around him but i have this feeling that he is not completely evil
3. Empress Rong An is a villainess but not the final one. She is against Fu Wang for the power of the throne. "The enemy's enemy is your friend". The leads will USE her to fight against Fu Wang because at the end of the day she is evil and power thirsty. Her end will be at the hands of Emperor Fu Wang, either framing her or catching her doing something bad. Also, she is the second possible murderer of Xiao Duo's brother. Maybe after he discovered a secret of hers/ she used him in an evil plan then killed him to shut him up/ she made him her escape goat and framed him.
Now that the empress has returned to the palace and Emperor Fu Wang came to West Shu for the fl, things will spice up and we will be able to tell a lot more from the coming eps tmrw, ep 19 and 20. Also if anyone read the novel, please spoil the villains for me T-T
