If I remember well FL did say it was his child, the crown prince called ML father, and empress dowager even said that ML was now acting like a father something like that. Or was it an error of tranlation ? idk

I would more believe that his character has developed a conscience of his own, that's why he's not going according to the plot anymore.

The fact that even after Nie Xiguang opened her heart to her father about everything that has been weighing on her shoulders this man has still the audacity to first yell at her and after that stay silent, I truly hate him with all my heart. I wish a father like this on no one, not even my worst enemy. He is alive and in the same country yet acting like a dead father. And Nie Xiguang's mom apologising to Lin Yusen on his behalf she's truly a gem and deserves the world.
Btw not only he is not apologising for the Lin Yusen matter but he could've at least apologised for wrongly accusing her of calling the police, but no he stayed silent. He didn't even consider asking if it was her just to you know, give the benefit of the doubt to his one and only daughter like he likes to say 😒
