Technicalities? Sure it was mid, but that wasn't the important part of the premise on this drama. Some K-Drama structurally written and behave so realistic it almost felt like an arthouse-indie movies. Some like to take them upnotch almost vulgar like makjang dramas. Some are so unrealistically sweet and over-glossed... One thing does not mean the latter is more superior than the former.. It irks me that you keep shoving the word 'mediocrity' as some kind cover to proof your statement. Just because its popular doesn't mean it's mediocre.
I get that you have different standards, and you wanted them to be more contextual... But this is a different drama, and contextually, it felt like you're howling in the wrong room.. If you want to criticize things about dramas being realistic and reasonable go criticize the recent N**flix... S**ebody, lol... sounds more fitting..

I agree with the OP.. But need to add something here.. As far as I can remember, I don't think the original webtoon stated Yeo Reum background story thoroughly.. It felt like it was told in a glimpse, I didn't know why her mother die, I didn't even know her mother face. The slow introductory phase of Yeo Reum past life isn't the important part... and it is a different storytelling style. And this is the reason, why I found this webtoon special.
What I really loved about this webtoon is its closeness with reality. The dialogue seemed to be dynamic and real as if you were talking with a friend. I relate with Yeo Reum grief, and I also relate in why the writer didn't go into details with Yeo Reum sad past life stories, bcos you know.. why ponder on stuff that has already happened ... Am I righttt...
Please don't compare this to My Liberation Notes 😝😝, I appreciate the slowness of their writings... and realistic struggle but it's a different structures, don't compare the two as if they were rooted from the same place. If you can't enjoy SS it's okay.. but pls don't belittle those who do..
