I've heard good things about this drama, but I'm finishing episode two and I'm disappointed. The idea is ok, but there were already many scenes in this drama with potential tension, and I didn't feel it at all. The suspense wasn't building or shocking. The rhythm is just too steady. I'm also disappointed with LYF's acting. I've liked him for a few years now, and he's had some really good roles, but he's bland in this drama. Barely correct. Boring. I know he can afford to do more. I'm not giving a rating for now. I'll still wait. Currently, it would be barely a 2.5, but I hope it improves. I also hope to see a scene where LYF's acting makes my jaw drop and I say: "This scene is worth a 10/10".
I've long wanted to write that when I watched The Rise of Phoenixes I thought Xiao Zhan should star in something…
Like Sparrow. I love this drama. It kept me in suspense from the first episode. Xiao Zhan as a double agent/spy with his angelic face would be incredible :)
My dream next project for XZ, its some serious historical or fantasy (not xianxia), but with great production,…
I've long wanted to write that when I watched The Rise of Phoenixes I thought Xiao Zhan should star in something like this, just such a borderline insane role. It's a great challenge for an actor, and I'm sure Xiao Zhan would have excelled in this role. Chen Kun was excellent and Zhan Zhan would be just as good. The role is difficult and ambiguous. This is my dream. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that such dramas are hardly made nowadays and Xiao Zhan being a slave to his popularity may be doomed to play popular roles like the thousandth xianxia about unhappy love because, after all, Xiao Zhan cries so beautifully.
I have watched seven episodes and so far there has been nothing interesting except for one scene (spoiler below). The only interesting character is 13. They talk, talk, talk.... And even when they fight it's in that boring way where they wave their arms and do stunts on a rope. Really 13 and that scene are keeping me watching the drama and it's already 7 episodes!
SMZ is destined to die. For the sake of the plot, his character cannot survive. Presumably, the dying man hides…
Just knowing that characters I like would be killed off, I prepared for it and watched at a time that suited me. It also helped a lot that I didn't see the moment of Di's death, that it was left in the realm of understatement. I paused the episode with SMZ and didn't return until the next day. The girl has to cope as best she can. Probably if SMZ had died then, I would have been devastated, but pulling him out of the storyline and leaving room for doubt and conjecture lessened the emotional impact. Maybe that's why I expect SMZ to be a symbol. Di has disappeared somewhere in the snow, and so has his opponent. The wuxia world relies on legends of heroes, and nothing fuels a legend like the fact that no one witnessed the death and no body was found. ML's father was also found years later. This subtle aesthetic of understatement and symbolism is what draws me to this drama. The scene of someone's death can be shown in dozens of different ways. How Heroes shows it is a way that is not invasive to my heart. It's... natural. So unless there is any shocking twist, yes, I will enjoy this drama till the end. Thank you.
SMZ is destined to die. For the sake of the plot, his character cannot survive. Presumably, the dying man hides…
I, for one, am satisfied with the screenwriters' work. There is no drama that will appeal to everyone. I like this drama. It doesn't lose its wuxia spirit while not being a slave to the form. But of course everyone has the right to like and dislike what they want. I just stopped being disappointed with the scriptwriters a long time ago when the plot doesn't go the way I'd like it to go. Every author is entitled to their own vision. And if I think I would have led the story better, I write my own. That way, the wolf gets to eat and the sheep get to eat :)
SMZ is destined to die. For the sake of the plot, his character cannot survive. Presumably, the dying man hides…
It may be so, it may be so, only then there will be no decisive duel between the two MLs. I just know that now SMZ is still alive but he won't be alive in the final episode. Unless the writers totally surprise me. I wouldn't mind, because he's my favorite character :)
By the way I am a little surprised that the disease attacked so quickly and so strongly, after all he kept it well in check. It would be interesting if he pretended to be so seriously ill to deceive his opponent and attack suddenly. That would also be a solution, but probably not tragic enough for wuxia, yet ML lamented in the first episode that he was left alone. Eh, actually it's all the same to me. It's going to be the way the scriptwriters came up with it, or the way the director came up with it, and my speculation has no influence on it. There are too many possible solutions and it all depends on the effect they want to achieve, which I don't know :)
Anyone else feel SMZ is still somehow alive? I don’t know why but I have that feeling. Will add feedback once…
SMZ is destined to die. For the sake of the plot, his character cannot survive. Presumably, the dying man hides in the place where he met his beloved and dies in her arms. His body will never be found so that the legend circulates around the world that he is alive and gives people hope and bards a theme for their songs. At least I, being a bard, would write such a song :)
If I were asked that question by an actor, not a character, I would answer: "If you died, my heart would break…
If they keep SY's character steadfastness, loyalty and patriotism, I will definitely enjoy the drama. I had a huge dissatisfaction in JoL. I need more YBY. I hope we won't have to wait long to see what kind of character SY will be :)
If I were asked that question by an actor, not a character, I would answer: "If you died, my heart would break…
Thank you for this information. It gave me hope. SY reminds me a bit of YBY from JoL and I love that type of character. I love men who can sacrifice private happiness for higher goals.
The trailer was very biased. It absolutely did not go to my heart or my mind. However, I understand that most of this drama's target audience is young girls dreaming of love. Of course, we don't know how the drama will be led. We don't know how far it deviated from the book. I hope SY stays true to his ideals and his vows, because if he gave them up for love in the drama, I wouldn't be able to respect such an ML.
Anyway, you gave me some hope that maybe ML will be my type after all, despite that unpleasant trailer for me. Thank you :)
Im 28, I always knew I was a child deep in my heart because I'm really enjoying this one >.
Unfortunately, the passing years and the experiences we gain make us look at the world differently. In addition, the more a person experiences, the more they come into contact with reality, the harder it is for them to believe in fairy tales. It is no longer enough for him in a movie that they love each other so beautifully. He really needs something more in the plot. This doesn't mean that all these anime or teen series are bad. They just don't meet our needs anymore. It's... sad because we are losing something that really gave us fun. But on the other hand, we are starting to understand dramas that we used to find boring and too complicated. When I watched Douluo Continent (a fantasy c-drama) I didn't identify with the main characters, but with their masters and had a great time. When I watch drama now, I more often identify with the parent, guardian, teacher, old king instead of the young and naive main character. And you know what, you can find a lot of pleasure in that too. Of course, if that character is portrayed well :) So I prefer not to think that I lost something, but that I gained a new perspective.
No the rating is not why the people think like you lol, but enlighten me what your 14 year old likes? IE?
Yes, and sometimes it only takes a few minutes to love a drama or hate it. Sometimes all it takes is one character's smile for you to not be able to tear yourself away from the screen, sometimes one sentence will put you off forever when others rave about it being a masterpiece. It's completely an individual taste.
If I were asked that question by an actor, not a character, I would answer: "If you died, my heart would break…
To me, the whole trailer was creepy. I really hate plots where a teenage girl seduces a priest who has vowed celibacy. I can put up with her seducing a teacher, although I find it totally unethical, but never a priest who vows chastity. I grew up with the idea that vows should be kept. Depending on the circumstances, one can be released from the vow, or release oneself from the vow, but the justification for giving up the vow may be that it was forced, not that one has found great love. I may not be a romantic, but I have never in my life thought it permissible to sacrifice honor, country, beliefs, or someone's life for love. So if ML has even a little bit of honor and sense of duty in his heart, this drama will be an endless torture for viewers. I wish you to enjoy the show.
Now a side note. Totally lack of romance and I belong to the people who think that love is a chemical disorder in the brain. A chemical imbalance in the brain can have symptoms of mental illness, which is why some people "love to madness". If ML has been forced at a very young age to take this path in life rather than another, if he has convinced himself that he must live this way, and suddenly there is someone who gives him something he has never known - love, he can really begin to descend into insanity. A person with strong ideals colliding with unfamiliar emotions experiences a strong emotional conflict. If there is no one to ease the tension, if both sides pull in their own direction (the superior in one direction and the lover in the other), an emotional breakdown is almost certain to occur. A person cannot live in such a state. There is a very high risk of destructive or self-destructive behavior. The person in the process may be released from the vow, because forcing the person to keep the vow may lead to irreversible mental changes (insanity) and even death. This is the only case where love can justify a departure from the oath.

I for one am watching AoS for ML. He's funny Sometimes it's hard for us to pinpoint why we keep watching a drama. Maybe there's an element of it that works on our subconscious, or maybe it's just something we need at that moment. Or maybe there is nothing better at that moment. Liking the characters is certainly an argument to watch something despite other shortcomings :)
Wow, the last part of the trailer killed me. His expression... I really wanted to hug him and tell him, that "yes,…
If I were asked that question by an actor, not a character, I would answer: "If you died, my heart would break and I would follow you." How lucky I am to be older than him :)
Im 28, I always knew I was a child deep in my heart because I'm really enjoying this one >.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for that :) I've been enthralled by c-drama, wuxia, Heroes lately. Of the k-dramas, I was entertained by From Now on it's Showtime. So there are still dramas that make me excited. I don't know if this is the place to say, but the c-drama The Untamed has captured the hearts of a lot of women in every age group. Even a famous 50+ singer admitted that she was thrilled. Likewise two famous actresses 40+..Don't read the comments because the drama has a lot of crazy fans, but I was brought to my knees by this drama at about the seventh minute. ML knows how to stir up emotions like few others. The drama itself is a 5/10 for me, but I've seen it a minimum of 10 times and always with pleasure. This guy just evokes a special kind of emotion in women,

Again, have fun watching TLP :)
