Ha ha, this is the first drama in years where I can't remember the characters' names. Either I have too much on my mind before the summer holidays, or WR uses their nicknames too often and they've stuck to me. :)
SMZ clearly doesn’t think BCF is suitable to lead the House whereas he readily offers the position to WXS. Irony…
Su in his heart chose Cabbage as his successor, but he did not announce it for several reasons. First of all, he wanted Cabbage to quietly learn the rules of the House and learn everything he needed to know as chief. Cabbage, however, is impatient and ambitious, probably having suffered humiliation in the past so he wants to be someone who cannot be pushed around at all costs. In my opinion, Su still sees him as her successor, but she doesn't want to tie him to House when Cabbage himself isn't convinced it's the place for him. Meanwhile, a progressive illness forces Su to decide on a successor. Seeing that he is losing Cabbage, he had no other option but to talk to Brick. You may ask, why doesn't he keep Cabbage with the promise of being the future leader? Because such a promise could eclipse Cabbage's judgment. He is not yet ready to be a leader, he still has a lot to learn and above all he has to decide if he really wants to stay in this House. Su simply wants Cabbage to follow a path that is his choice, not an imposed duty. And that is one of the elements that makes me really like this drama.
In past episodes, I heard Lei Chun being referred to as the one whose engagement was rejected by SMZ. Is it that…
If I haven't missed anything, the circumstances of the breaking of the engagement have not been thoroughly explained in the drama so far. It seems to me that the engagement was announced, but then the rivalry between the groups became too much and there could have been a very violent conflict and the breaking of the engagement. But these are just my guesses.
For the first time in a very long time, I have a drama where I can't wait for new episodes. Plot doesn't really interest me, but my heart was won by young men Su and Di. The three main characters for me may not exist, but Mr Su and Mr Di are in a class of their own.
I am a guy and I like it. It is not different from why females love this drama. You should understand guys are…
No offence, I meant no harm. When you write books or make films, you assume a certain audience - an age group, a gender, sometimes even an education. For example, most women prefer xianxia to wuxia and most men prefer wuxia to xianxia. Most men prefer crime fiction and most women prefer romance. This is not to say that everyone does. I personally prefer wuxia and crime stories and I know men who prefer xianxia and romance. I don't see anything strange about that. It's just that women are more willing to express their opinion in the comments. I just have a strong impression that this drama is especially liked by women. You explained to me perfectly what men like in this drama and I thank you for that :)
This is annoying to me, as well. Unfortunately, kisskh requires references to be able to remove inaccurate…
Thanks for the clarification. As a matter of fact, over a year ago I fought intensely to have rumours removed next to one name and learned to argue my case. "The source of the information (Douban) is not an official or reliable source of information. The official drama website does not list the cast." You can include the Weibo page of this drama as it already exists in this situation. Sometimes I also used harsh words on the principle that MDL loses its credibility by posting unconfirmed information etc. It's even better when several people ask for a change. You can call for action on the actor's topic. Of course no one on MDL verifies the veracity of the information. If a few people ask for a change and you put information in the drama topic asking people to only give information from reliable sources and that Douban is not one, it will eventually bear fruit. Actually very few actors have a tidy account because there are people who love to have achievements and post every rumour they can find. If fans don't keep a sharp eye on this, it will be free American again. So a lot of accounts could use a cleaning. I wrote here because I was only interested in GJ these days. I'm sorry if I caused you any unpleasantness. Do you happen to know which GJ project is a sure thing (i.e. currently shooting it or confirmed to go on set)? I don't know anything after Legend of Anle.
One small comment or request to the actor's fans - take care of the accuracy of the information on his account. I don't follow his career, but I wanted to see what he's currently working on and I found a whole bunch of rumours. This information chaos is not good for the credibility of your star. Verify the information on the official drama sites, don't rely on Douban because it's not an official or reliable media. You may like that so many dramas are by his name, but people who need reliable information on short notice only see unrealistic rumours. It really doesn't look good from a c-ent oriented passerby's point of view.
It's actually according to douban, so unless we get the proper list it can't be changed I think...
Douban is not and has not been an official media outlet. This place is rife with rumours and cannot be a reliable source of information. Any user can report a change on MDL and give a reason for the change, e.g. "The information that this and that person will star in this drama is just a rumour. Official sources (the drama's Weibo account or the drama's douin account) do not provide the cast."
To be honest, if not Xiao Zhan I would not even try to watch this drama :) I was all for XZ in 70's but I had…
It's not a trailer, it's a "how it was made" style clip. Note that the main focus is on the production process itself and the producer narrates. They show how the script was created, what good cameras they used and a very vague introduction to the characters. Someone might call it a trailer, but that's probably because they don't have or know a more appropriate name. I don't know the correct name, but it's definitely not a trailer the way a trailer should be. It's more like a BTS promo video.
Yesterday I wrote that this drama is well made and I understand why people like it, but I think it's worth specifying that I have not fallen in love with it. I still can't finish the first episode. I'm not saying this drama is bad, I haven't seen enough, I just didn't find anything interesting in it for me. Well, I rather don't go mainstream at all and those popular dramas rarely appeal to me. I know that a lot of people praise the beauty and talent of the actors and say that just looking at them is enough for them, well, looking at them doesn't give me elevated aesthetic experiences, so it's not enough for me. Maybe one day I will come back to this drama, but not likely today.

He, he, thanks, but I'll stick to watching the drama rather than reading about it. I think I'll naturally know what it's about if I watch more than 20 minutes :)
Is this worth watching in terms of plot, characters, acting , romance …? Also a huge + if the cinematography…
Song Dynasty. Start watching. I've heard good things about this drama, so out of curiosity I started and although I'm still in the first episode I have to admit that it's nicely shot, no flying on swords or ropes (and there was already one decent fight scene) and has a good pace. I'm surprised that already the first episode is an eye catcher. In the first few minutes I wanted to quit this drama, but by the fight scene I burst into laughter so I'll give this drama a chance. I think it's worth it.
Could it be that Tencent, under the pressure of viewer criticism and fearing colossal losses, has finally learned to shoot dramas? It can't be! I'm in the first episode, not yet halfway through, and I already know why this drama is popular. I won't say anything about the plot because I don't know it yet, I'll just say about the cinematography and editing. First of all, the long camera shots not only make a good exposure of the place but also of the characters. The dialogues in the exposition are boring but short and provide adequate information. The several minutes long shots with simultaneous exposition of the broadside and the characters are rare not only in c-ent, so they attract attention. Before they can get boring, however, there is fast-paced action with appropriately fast-changing shots. This change of rhythm between slow poeticism and fast-paced action is exactly what most viewers like, because it is picked up naturally. A big plus. I personally am annoyed by the music, which is too much and a bit cliché but it looks like we will have a few leitmotifs, which is a big plus. Although hardly original, the music is nevertheless well chosen to create the atmosphere of the scenes. Good cinematography, good editing and appropriate music is something that really works for the viewer. Tencent has learned to hire the right people for the right jobs :)
I found it. I recommend it. The trailer was terrible, but this clip piqued my interest in the drama.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6hHa3ToH5Y&ab_channel=%E8%85%BE%E8%AE%AF%E8%A7%86%E9%A2%91
From what I gather, it's after the master-student stage (sure she'll make sweet eyes at him because he's handsome and cool and she's a teenager, so it can't be otherwise), but after that they'll be at each other's throats. She's supposedly pretty good at fighting and commanding an army too. I heard that current trends are changing to male-centric because 1) more and more young men are watching such dramas, 2) girls watching dramas would rather look at the handsome ML than identify with the FL. Since there is a lack of source material on ML, but plenty on FL, producers are buying lesser-known female-centric books and shifting the focus from her to him. This shouldn't affect the characterisation of the characters, rather the increased screen time for ML and the emphasis on his longing, not hers, which I personally think is a pretty cool ploy in theory, because in practice how it works out remains to be seen. If the producers had taken a very well-known book, they could not have done such a trick without exposing themselves to a large group of fans. With a lesser known book, hardly anyone has a problem with it. So I expect ML will have some really cool scenes, but FL will also get her share of it, she won't just lie and smell like the ladies in the harem, she'll just kick ass and probably kick ML's ass once or twice :)

And that is one of the elements that makes me really like this drama.
And as for MDL you are right. It is their reputation that is going down the drain if they still have any.
