This drama is very uneven. It has really cool scenes, great ideas for the plot, only to bore the viewer with pointlessness and unnecessary length. I'm halfway through and feel like quitting, because for the last few episodes the plot has nothing interesting in it.
I like ML, a big plus for his sneakiness, but FL is boring and completely monothematic. Not her fault, all spoiled princesses are exactly the same. A girl who thinks she's allowed everything, that she has no responsibility, that her behavior has no consequences for others etc.
And then there is the artificially constructed tragedy. As if the scriptwriters were forcing tears on the viewers. Somehow it does not work for me. In the most heartrending scene in episode 13 I thought only about the fact that bad dubbing spoils everything for me.
And yet it's a much better drama than what c-ent currently offers.

I was wondering today about the podium in the competition for the most handsome characters played by Xiao Zhan. The contest was held in my imagination, but why don't you join in?
Third place, equally Ji Chong and Yan BingYun. The former has a wonderfully wild beauty and a smile that steals hearts, the latter is an aristocrat with a delicate physiognomy but a flame in his eyes.
Second place, Beitang Moran. Oh, man, Grace, charm, sophistication, perfect face and a pure, slightly haughty but warm gaze.
First place is obviously Wei Wuxen, and I don't know if any character in the history of c-drama can beat him in beauty and natural charm. Those eyes are the purest gems and that smile.... Anyone who has seen it knows that WWX is an absolutely perfect beauty!

Suppose they want all four of them to star in this drama (I mean the fans, not the producers, since this is clearly a fan-made rumor). Anyone who has been dealing with c-dramas a little longer not on tw and the like, but more through Chinese media knows that Chinese fans will never allow such an arrangement of actors. In China, the position of an actor on the list is extremely important. Here we have three giant names and one big name. I'm not talking about acting skills, just popularity. Let's assume that XZ as a gentleman will give way to ladies, but actress fans will have a regular blood war and whose name will appear first. Besides, the position of these actresses makes it impossible for any of them to play 2FL.
As for the gents, if Immortality ever sees the light of day, LYX will gain a lot of new fans, but even more toxic fans. With XZ anti-fans, the internet will be torn to shreds.
This combination of actors may be a dream for the fans, but for the producers, it's a nightmare that will eat up too much money and risk putting the project on ice forever due to bad fan behavior. This is why I say that such a project is unrealistic. I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable.

Someone who comes up with such rumors must not only have an unbridled imagination, but also not a clue about C-ent. Two goddesses, a god and a prince in one production? ABSOLUTELY UNREALISTIC.

The style of filming, the aesthetics and even the acting reminds me of The Wolf. They were filmed around the same time. GMP, however, premiered earlier and avoided being butchered by the censors. I suspect that if they had reviewed a little later, GMP would have had to sacrifice a few scenes too. I mention this because The Wolf was the first drama of this style for me, so I'm rating it slightly higher so far. Both have that idiotic tragicism, but The Wolf had some comedic elements that I don't see in this drama so far. I'm watching GMP for now because it has more pluses than minuses, but like The Wolf it has brilliant and hopeless elements. It's watchable, but I'm on episode six and there hasn't been anything that's made my heart beat faster yet. Putting the protagonist in a situation of certain death and making it a cliffhanger every other episode is kind of boring when you know he's going to live for at least 40 more episodes. After all, ML can't die at the beginning of a drama unless he's supposed to reincarnate :)

Any rumoured dramas that he will lead in future?
From what I've heard, just old rumors, which you can check out a few posts below. Recently, it's been a trending rumor that he will be appearing in a drama with Song ZiEr, where he will play the CEO. The rumor is cool enough that many fans would like to see him as the domineering CEO, especially after the commercials from earlier this year and it would be a whole new incarnation of Xiao Zhan. Plus, shooting for a drama like this usually takes a short time and the role doesn't require much preparation. But of course, these are just rumors and fantasies of longing fans :)

Xiao Zhan should go home and visit his parents in Chongqing. Beijing could be the next city for the Covid 19 lock…
He is not of those who flee from danger. Besides, if he has a job in Beijing, there is no way he can leave. During the previous lockdown he was also in Beijing doing dubbing for Douluo Dalu and recording two or three songs, so even during the lockdown he can work and besides, maybe this will be an opportunity for him to read some new scripts or catch up as a reader and as a viewer?
A lot of fans are definitely worried about him but he can take care of himself plus the people working at XZ Studio really care about him. I'm sure they love him no less than we do and will keep him safe :)

I ❤ him, can't wait for The Longest Promise. The sweetest guy but also with the most unhinged fans 😅
I don't know how horrible of an experience you've had that you're so negative about his fans, but you're talking about a group that is considered the most responsible and understanding fan group in China that has been shown as a role model many times.
Of course every actor has unbalanced fans, but as a group compared to others Xfx have earned the respect of passersby. And they have a basis for that. I'm sick of people reading some lie from a few years ago and blaming his fans for everything. It has been proven and explained thousands of times that the fans were innocent and that all the action was caused by paid marketing. For over two years now someone keeps telling the world what bad and crazy people Xfx are, but no one gives evidence. Will there ever come a day when fans of other actors stop dumping all the dirt on Xfx? They do ten times worse things themselves, but only Xiao Zhan fans are publicly lynched. It's been like this all through 2020, everything bad in this world is Xfx. Fans of other actors tear each other to shreds and no one notices, and when Xfx says even one word that can be used against them, it is immediately used.
I'm not saying this in your context because I don't know you. It's just that there's been a wave of people spitting on Xfx again and I don't know what for. Your comment just gave me a place to express my powerlessness. Because if Xfx start defending themselves, they will be considered unhinged fans. But honestly, if for years someone constantly blames you for something you didn't do and considers you the worst evil, you might lose patience. Xfx are at the end of the day just people too, not walking saints.

I don't know why there are so many negative comments , I have seen this drama for 4 times already and about to…
Because the drama was watched by a lot of kids who were enthralled with the anime and the drama is definitely different from the anime in almost everything. The anime was (or is) very popular and if someone is a die-hard fan of the anime, there's no way they'll like the drama. It bothers them that the actresses have too long skirts and too small breasts and such. Additionally, those who have read the book also have their own ideas about the characters and there are always plenty of voices against how the adaptation was done.
I treat this drama as a completely separate creation and I have also watched it several times and had a great time doing so. Especially on episode two.

this is not even a totally serious serial... Hell!?dropped @ eps 6
Later it gets very serious when the boys go through a baptism of fire. The drama was shot by two directors - one specializes in military style romantic idol dramas (boring and poor quality) the other director does decent military scenes, gives serious psychological elements. I don't like the first one, the second one is excellent. It's a bit of a shame that this discrepancy is clearly seen in this drama. Episode 18 is decent serious work, episode 19 is excellent and after that it is often quite serious.
I'm not urging you to watch it. I just know that the beginning irritated me too, but the second half of episode 18 totally surprised and impressed me. This is exactly how the baptism of fire should be shown in my opinion. The aftermath of that baptism is also shown very well. There are some memorable scenes there.

I know this drama doesn't appeal to everyone. It's understandable that people have different tastes. I just want to say that yesterday I watched a few episodes again and I was delighted with the way the camera was handled - long takes, wide sets, close-ups, dynamics, cuts... I'm not talking about the whole drama, because it has better and worse scenes, but about those episodes where the ninth company was going through its baptism of fire (18-19). I really applaud the cameraman, director and editor for these few episodes.

And that is why Xiao Zhan will choose projects carefully and work with those companies he wants (or at least I…
2020 has taught fans not to believe any rumors. Some channels say one day that Xiao Zhan will not star in JoL2, that he has been swapped with another actor, the next day they prove that he will star in this drama. I only trust the official reports, and they are silent about YBY's role. As long as they are silent, I have the right to hope :)
If Xiao Zhan cut his hair very short, it may (or may not) be a hint that he will be wearing a heavy wig in the summer. Longer hair under a wig is a nightmare. However, I remind you that Xiao Zhan is still on the set of WDB, so if he did anything with his hair, it was for this role. His character served in the military in his youth, so they may shoot scenes of him as a young recruit. Because of the hairstyle, these will probably be his last scenes on this set.
Of course, if he cut his hair :)

I got this from this FB’s page. Xiao Zhan is always amazing. 💜💜💜https://www.facebook.com/xiaozhansean/Jebsen…
And that is why Xiao Zhan will choose projects carefully and work with those companies he wants (or at least I hope so). I realize this sounds arrogant, but Xiao Zhan must also already realize that he is called the god of wealth, so he must be careful whose pockets he fills.
I predict that YGY will be an absolute financial success, bigger than Douluo Dalu and The Untamed combined, because it focuses more on the typical female viewer.
I honestly wonder what dramas Xiao Zhan will choose now realizing his responsibility. The pressure some companies put on him must be huge.
I think we'll see him in the second season of JoL. A drama without him will sell well, but with him it will be an international financial hit. Only a fool would want to replace him with someone else.
On The Wind Blows from Longxi May 1, 2022
These are the kind of dramas I like - realistic, well shot, making the viewer think, questioning what is true. Paradoxically, I don't have enough of the female element. Focusing the plot solely on one thread also tires me out a bit. Side plots are important, though, because they allow you to take a breath. I miss it here. Still, the drama is very good. It hasn't been an equally good drama for years.
