I'm afraid I won't be able to write a review for The Wolf. I'm afraid I will have a problem with getting points. When in the same drama I see nightmarish kitsch and flashes of genius, should I wrongly award the trash with a high score of five points, or hurt the flash of genius and give him only five points?
Should I punish the drama for one wooden actor, or reward it for another, whose acting is bordering on a masterpiece?
I've never seen such an uneven drama before. It reminds me a lot of "Princess Agents" which I hated from the heart, but watched for a phenomenal couple played by Li Qin and Shown Doe.
But January is far away and I can change my mind :)

I only saw four episodes, but the horses were the only thing I liked.
General remark, because I didn't see the whole thing, but I love historical novels and read a lot about the war times (I'm also a historian). Beautiful and well-kept and trained horses are only at the beginning of the war. Then everyone rides whatever looks like a horse and can move.

I can't decide if I like The Wolf or I hate it. Some scenes are pathetic and terribly boring and one thing irritates me so much that I feel nauseous. But there were also some scenes that took my breath away and I was like OMG! It's like this drama has several directors, each responsible for their own plot, but lacking one director who would neatly put it together. Some scenes are brilliant, others are terribly embarrassing. This will probably be one of those drama that you love and hate at the same time.

For me it wasn't BL but xianxia (fantasy variety) with light elements of horror. The charm of The Untamed is that you can see BL there if you want, but if you don't want BL, you just have a beautiful friendship story. A lot of people approached this drama - BL, I don't watch and I think they made a mistake. This drama has a few downsides to production, but XZ is just phenomenal. I watched hundreds of contemporary and costume k-dramas, c-dramas, j-dramas, I like a lot of actors, but XZ showed something really different. That's why he won so many fans so quickly.

If you like music and don't mind c-pop, you can start with the music show "Our Song" XZ is there as XZ, but with every episode, every performance he undergoes a fantastic transformation and shows his acting and stage genius. :)
