Yes it's true. I regret to say that some of the main characters are boring because they have to follow certain main character patterns. Supporting and episodic characters often leave the actors a lot of space, because the author of the original novel or even the director doesn't pay as much attention to them as to the lead character. The actor has more freedom and, if he is talented and creative, he can create a real work of art.
My beloved characters are Ji Chong and Yan Bingyun and neither are ML. The two are incredibly valuable to the entire storyline, and were played as if each was telling their own story and not just a gray backdrop to ML. XZ is able to give life to any character, even if the screen is only 5 minutes long, his hero is wonderfully real and alive. There is no such date and it probably won't be. Don't worry, a lot of the dramas premiered without a prior date announcement. A few days ago "The Wolf" was launched and it immediately became a hit, so the procedure will probably be repeated.
