Welcome to Cdrama land. You may have misunderstood that individual as they only said they were just hoping for a good ending.
Little personal advice for newcomers to cdrama land, I would highly recommend not coming to the discussion page when the drama is airing as usually a lot of ppl will put theories or spoil stuff and might not use spoiler tags (that is only recommended if you do not want the ending to be spoiled). Sometimes actors themselves spoil it and it gets spread here. Some ppl can already get a hint of what type of ending a drama might have based on the actor that plays it (as they have a certain type of script they always pick). Also trailers or the intro/outro might spoil it too. This drama, which is adapted from an unfinished novel so we do not know the ending but there are other dramas where the novel is finished so ppl know the ending. With that being said, if there is a drama adapted from a novel with a good/bad ending, it might not be the same in the drama. A lot of the times the drama goes away from the novel’s true ending, whether it was initially happy or sad.
🆘I try to understand sth…. I hear here how great the lead actor is at acting, but this actor is always dubbed,…
What makes a great actor depends on several factors, including how one portrays the characters. But it really comes down to personal taste, so what makes a great actor is subjective. Some people might consider those who graduated from acting school as a great actor whereas those didn’t not so much. Some might consider visuals and youthfulness as determining factors. Some might think those who can do it all (act, dub, improvise etc.) as a great actor. It all depends on who you ask. Some might consider not dubbing your voice is a big deal whereas others not so much. Chinese Entertainment Industry is huge and fast paced and I think voice dubbing is normal there and has been for a long time (though actors are increasing in dubbing their characters due to fees). I consider dubbing as creating more jobs. Also, I think costume/period dramas are huge thing in China compared to the US, it makes sense why certain actors would choose to be dubbed - they might not have the correct accent/dialect for it. They might get criticised for it which can be career ending whereas in America or other places it might not be as harsh. Furthermore, if an actor used the same dubber for his characters, it makes sense to stick to it rather than switch it up. Overall, each country has their own unwritten rules, customs and ways of doing things. One cannot use rules from other countries entertainment industry and judge everyone the same way.
Yall, October is few days away. But I am super busy. The way everything is getting released at the end of the year whilst it was drier than the Sahara during summer 😭😭😭
If there’s an express, it’s usually for the last 6 ep. We are currently at 30, so maybe at 34?
That’s because IT IS going slow. Idk whether Tencent have done this format before but usually they do 2 eps a day with a bit of break each week. The 1 ep then 2 ep the next day (irregular schedule) is YOUKU special. I guess only iQIYI sticks to 2 eps, even if it takes breaks. I feel like 1 ep ain’t enough.
In 1st ep the person who tried to kill ML was not FL but other girl. I am right? Or they already explained who…
in ep 21 ML tells FL that Lu Wen broke the agreement and attacked him that night, FL was surprised. It’s safe to say from the next preview and her reaction that it wasn’t her.
What have I watched??? This is the by far the worst drama in 2024, way overrated
I wouldn’t say that tbh, we had fox spirit matchmaker (red pact). Amazing cast, horrible plot. Was a complete let down. This year so far has been a bit iffy when it comes to costume dramas. The only one that had an interesting plot throughout is the Double. But this drama is alright.
And the worst dad award goes to… 🥁🥁🥁 NY’s dad. The guy is just unbearable. The Dragon Lord imo is the only one for NR, selfless all the way to the end.
haven’t started watching even though I absolutely love ZLH. is it…is it that bad?
Yh, I’m like you, I’m fan of cdramas. I watch anything and everything regardless of who’s playing the characters. The only person I might have a slight bias towards is Zhao Lusi cuz she’s the reason I started watching cdramas, but other than that I’m here for a good time.

It’s not bad but its not that great. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I am enjoying it even though the plot is a bit iffy. But I guess from reading the comments, it was becuase of problems with resources. But I do recommend you to watch the first few eps to see how you feel about it.
I finally finished watching it. I was delaying watching it as I knew from the novel how it was going to go.
Time can heal almost everything, but not my heart over XL. I am happy for Jing and XY, but heartbroken for XL.
I have made up my mind about my personal ending. This is somewhat inspired by The Vampire Diaries (if you know, you know). Jing and XY will live a fulfilling life with many adventures, kids, grandkids, and grow old together until death parts them. After all, everyone will taste death sooner or later.
For me, the afterlife is a peaceful place where you get to do things you couldn’t do in life, whether it’s fulfilling desires, addressing regrets, or achieving unfulfilled wishes.
Jing dies first. In the afterlife, Jing will reunite with his other buddies (Shen) and explore the world beyond XY.
As for XY, she dies a couple of years later. She has spent a long life with Jing and is grateful to have experienced happiness. She reunites with XL, someone she couldn’t be with in life despite loving him. In the afterlife, there is no war, and they are no longer on opposite sides. XL has no responsibilities or the burden of an army. He can finally express his love for her without any obstacles. XY also reunites with her parents. After XL died, he met Chi Chen, so they are already familiar with each other. XL told her father everything about her while waiting for her. They lived happily ever after.
CX dies of old age after serving his country for a long time. He kept the country out of war and reigned as a great king. He can finally rest and reunite with Feng Long, exploring the world without worry.
This might be delusional, but this is my version of events.
Listen, hear me out, I wouldn’t mind a three-way relationship between Jing, XL and XY. I mean, XL already experienced what it feels to kiss Jing so might as well go full way 😂. And CX can go enjoy himself with the many women he married or FL. That’s the ending in my head.
For those who don’t know and still comment “S1 is better than S2,” just know that they are not actually separate seasons. They are only labeled as S1 and S2 by name, but they are in fact the same season. The context is that the Cgovt introduced rules restricting the number of episodes a show can have to 40. Some found loopholes and began airing shows longer than 40 episodes in parts. At that time, they would air “Part 2” directly after “Part 1,” meaning the shows were not impacted and would air back-to-back, avoiding any confusion. Some shows that did this were Love Like the Galaxy and Immortal Samsara.
This show was probably going to do the same, but when it was airing, the Cgovt implemented additional rules stating that if a show had several parts or seasons (a way around the rule), they must wait at least a year (don't quote me on this) to release the next part, like a grace period. I do not know whether these rules applied to this show since it was all filmed and airing, but I guess the team didn’t want to take any chances. This is why it’s in seasons, but in reality, it’s the same season. Also, due to censorship, which cut about 7 episodes from 70 to 63, there will probably be some plot holes. However, this is not the team's fault, but rather due to censorship. I do think however that they should have been smoother with the editing.
