as a fan of the original (and when i say original i mean the entire IP; manga, jdrama, cd drama, radio drama) this did not disappoint! i do not know the actors like everyone else seems to do here nor do i care enough but their performance in ep1 did not disappoint! achi's actor is the right amount of grumpy and karan's actor definitely went to the machida keita school of heart eyes. i also like that tsuge and minato's story starts with what is implied to happen off screen in any other adaptation. if i have to compare it to the jdrama i would say that imo episode 1 works better in 20 minutes rather than 40 like they did here (i was totally expecrting to get to the sleepover in this episode!) but they added a lot of important details so i don't mind as much. will be docking one point for the scarf scene being skipped though. adding half a point for karan's smug face when achi enters his condo.

i wonder how much of the manga they will cover this time...
